[Possibilities of reflexotherapy in the treatment of post-traumatic eye complications]. / Vozmozhnosti refleksoterapii pri lechenii posttravmaticheskikh oslozhnenii glaza.

Reflex therapy was used in the treatment of 448 patients with various post-traumatic conditions of the eye and its appendages. Both routine methods and the methods developed by the author were employed. Good results were achieved in the majority of cases. For the first time visual function was improved in the patients with optic nerve atrophy.

Penetrating wounds of the corneoscleral area are remarkable for particularly severe course of posttraumatic period, this being explained by direct injury to the ciliary body, impaired anatomic relationships in the anterior chamber corner, formation of this corner recession, this resulting in detachment of the ciliary body and development of the hypotonic syndrome. The authors suggest a new surgical technique of reconstructing the anterior chamber corner in its recession and detachment of the ciliary body with the aim of correcting the hypotension and fortifying the ciliary body at the site of its anatomic localization. This method was used in the treatment of 32 patients with subatrophy, detachment of the ciliary body, and hypotension; positive effect was achieved in 28.

[Characteristics of the ambulatory care of patients with posttraumatic pathology of the eye]. / Osobennosti dispanserizatsii bol'nykh s posttravmaticheskoi patologiei glaza.

The paper generalizes experience with dispensary work in the Department of eye trauma and prosthesing of the Helmholtz Institute for the period from 1985 to 1988. Analysis of 3000 patients with various posttraumatic pathologies allowed to single out dispensary groups of patients depending on localization, severity of trauma and other pecularities of posttraumatic periods; to determine optimal terms for dispensarization of these patients; and to define rehabilitative measures depending on clinical pecularities. The developed system of dispensarization of patients with posttraumatic pathology should be widely used in ophthalmologic practice because of high effectivity of the system.
