[Characteristics of surgical approach using for patients with renal cell carcinoma, complicated by postcava tumor thrombosis].

The postcava tumor thrombosis had about 1/3 of patients with renal cell carcinoma at the initial examination. Reconstructive interventions were performed on the postcava for 38 patients (24 men, 14 women). The postcava thrombectomy was applied in 15 patients. The thrombectomy with postcava resection were carried out in 13 patients and plasty- in 6, prosthetics-in 4. An actuarial 3-year or 5-year survival rate of patients consisted of 59.4% and 42.2%. The performance of reconstructive interventions on postcava with its involvement was justified and provided satisfactory results in patients with renal cell carcinoma.

[The possibilities of surgical and combined treatment of patients with locally-disseminated renal cell carcinoma].

A comparative analysis of surgical and combined treatment of renal carcinoma in 84 patients has shown that preoperative embolization of the renal arteries failed to reduce blood loss and duration of operation, failed to increase recurrence-free period and 3 to 5 years survival of the patients. Specific features of combined interventions are described.

[A method for forming a urinary bladder from the sigmoid after radical cystectomy in patients with bladder cancer].

A procedure was evolved and tested for forming a urinary bladder from the sigmoid in the course of radical cystectomy carried out for invasive bladder cancer (20). A sigmo-sigmoid anastomosis ("end-to-side") was used by means of an apparatus suture.

[Application of radiofrequency ablation for treatment of localized renal carcinoma].

An evaluation of the results of radiofrequency ablation of renal clear-cell carcinoma (pT1aN0M0) in 7 patients is presented. The longest follow-up was 26 months, the shortest--4 months. No complication was reported. A review of the literature and our own experience point to radiofrequency ablation being an effective procedure of thermotherapy for small-size peripheral renal neoplasms.

[Evaluation of biological sequelae for cattle in the zone of the Chernobyl accident]. / Otsenka biologicheskikh posledstvii dlia krupnogo rogatogo skota v zone Chernobyl'skoi katastrofy.

The influence of Chernobyl NPP outburst on cattle from farms in Russia and Belorussia was examined since 1988 to 1996. Changes in the level of thyroid hormones and imbalance in cAMP/cGMP ratio with increased cAMP concentration in blood were found. The content of cAMP and E, F2a prostaglandins was varied because of the disturbances in the rate of their metabolism. Two critical periods of pregnancy in cows were revealed. In the first half of pregnancy (the 4th-5th month) disorders in thyroid prevailed. In the second half (7th-9th month) changes in testosterone, progesterone, estradiol and estriol concentration were the most actual.

The hypothalamic-hypophyseal-cortical multifetal sheep system reaction was examined to respond the sharp single action X-rays dosed 0.96 and 3.84 Gr. The primary irradiation answer was accompanied by expressed hypercorticoidism, which essentially increased with irradiation dose rising and followed the induction of CRF-hypothalamic activity. The secondary sheep hypercorticoidism preceded the clinico-hematomancy and depended on irradiation dose. Hypercorticoidism-2 resulted in blood free bioactive cortisol content increasing. The compensative decrease of named system activity favoured to beam illness outcome. It the prognosis was poor the free and reached its peek before animal death. These data can be used as a test for beam illness outcome prognosis.

Life span of lymphocytes in cattle in the norm and during lymphatic leukemia.

Comparison was made of the rate of in vivo elimination from blood and organs of cattle of lymphocytes labeled with 3H-thymidine in the course of seven days in the norm and during lymphatic leukemia. Significant delay in the elimination of labeled lymphocytes, and especially of lymphocyte precursors, from the blood, spleen, and lymph glands of the animal was established in the stage of lymphatic leukemia that was examined.

DNA polymerase activity of lymphocyte nuclei of cattle lymph in the normal state and in lympholeukemia.

A comparative study wad made of the DNA polymerase activity of lymphocyte nuclei of cattle lymph in the normal state and in lympholeukemia. No significant differences were found in the specific DNA polymerase activity of the nuclei of normal and leukemic lymphocytes, both in the absence and in the presence of exogenous "activated" DNAs. The DNA polymerase activity of both types of nuclei was a maximum at pH 7.8 and a Mg2+ concentration of 4--6 mM. The DNA polymerase activities of lymphocyte nuclei of the lymph of healthy and leukemic animals did not differ in sensitivity to the inhibiting action of actinomycin D and in thermal stability. It was concluded that in cattle lympholeukemia, there are no significant changes in the DNA polymerase system of lymph lymphocyte nuclei.
