RESUMO

The enthalpies of sublimation of five substituted pyridine N-oxides were determined by the Knudsen effusion method with mass spectrometric control of the vapor composition within the framework of the second law of thermodynamics. The sublimation enthalpy of mono-substituted compounds 4-X-PyO depends on the nature of the substituent X and increases in the order CH3→NO2→OCH3. A difference is noted in the nature of dissociative ionization of disubstituted derivatives 2-CH3-4-NO2PyO and 3-CH3-4-NO2PyO. The relationship between the packing of molecules in crystals and the ΔH°subl values is considered.

RESUMO

AIM: To study an influence of cytoflavin therapy on the cerebral hemodynamics in patients with various stages of hypertensive disease (HD). MATERIAL AND METHODS: One hundred and forty patients with HD, I-III stages, were randomized into 2 groups: patients of group 1 received complex treatment (antihypertensive therapy and cytoflavin), patients of group 2 were treated with antihypertensive therapy. The control group consisted of 30 healthy people. The changes in cerebral hemodynamics using the algorithm of the complex ultrasound study of cerebral vascular system were assessed. RESULTS: Disturbances of hemodynamics at all structural/functional levels of cerebral vascular system were found in all HD stages. There were a decrease in the blood flow through the common carotid, inner carotid, spinal and middle cerebral arteries, reactivity of veins of Rosenthal, blood flow through veins of Rosenthal and inner jugular veins and an increase of blood flow through spinal veins. The hemodynamic study showed that in group 1 there was the increase of blood flow through common carotid, inner carotid, middle cerebral arteries in stage I and through spinal arteries in stage I-II of HD; improvement of the reactivity of veins of Rosenthal, restoration of blood flow parameters through the veins of Rosenthal and inner jugular veins to control values, the decrease in blood flow velocity through the spinal veins in all HD stages. CONCLUSION: HD is accompanied by the damage of all structural/functional levels of cerebral vascular system. The use of cytoflavin in the complex therapy of HD exerts a positive influence on the cerebral hemodynamics reducing the severity of arterial insufficiency in the initial stages of disease, improving microcirculation and venous hemodynamics in all HD stages.

RESUMO

AIM: To evaluate the impact of incorporating cytoflavin in a treatment regimen for patients with different stages of hypertensive disease (HD). SUBJECTS AND METHODS: The results of treatment were analyzed in 140 patients with HD (53 with Stage I, 50 with Stage II, and 37 with Stage III). According to the treatment regimen, the patients were divided into 2 groups. A study group (n=74) received combination treatment involving antihypertensive therapy and cytoflavin intravenously dropwisely in a single dose of 200 ml of 5% glucose solution for 10 days, then 2 tablets twice daily for 60 days, with a total cycle time being 70 days. A comparison group (n=66) had antihypertensive therapy only. Thirty apparently healthy individuals (a control group) were examined to have reference values. All the patients were examined using conventional clinical and laboratory studies. The patients' complaints and neurological status were assessed using respective questionnaires over time - before and after treatment. RESULTS: The incorporation of cytoflavin in a treatment regimen was ascertained to reduce the degree of anxiety, depressive, dissomnic, and cognitive disorders, improves quality of life in patients with Stage I HD, and lowers the degree of asthenic and autonomic disorders in all disease stages. CONCLUSION: The found efficacy and safety of the drug may recommend its incorporation in combination therapy regimens for Stages I-III HD.

RESUMO

We examined 60 patients with constitutional venous insufficiency, suffering from hypertensive encephalopathy of I and II stages, mean age 43,4± 6,3 years. Patients of the main group (n=30) received Cytoflavin (2 tablets twice a day) and standard therapy (acetylsalicylic acid and antihypertensive drugs). Thirty patients of the parallel group received only standard therapy. At the 25th day of the study, there were the decrease in the number of complaints, including specific "venous complaints", the reduction of cephalalgia syndrome, asthenic and autonomic disorders; the improvement of quality of life and better cerebral hemodynamics on all structural and functional levels.

RESUMO

Empirical relations between the (90)Sr concentration factor (CF) and the calcium concentration in freshwater aquatic systems have previously been determined in studies based on data obtained prior to the Chernobyl accident. The purpose of the present research is to review and compare these models, and to test them against a database of post-Chernobyl measurements from rivers and lakes in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Finland. It was found that two independently developed models, based on pre-Chernobyl empirical data, are in close agreement with each other, and with empirical data. Testing of both models against new data obtained after the Chernobyl accident confirms the models' predictive ability. An investigation of the influence of fish size on (90)Sr accumulation showed no significant relationship, though the data set was somewhat limited.

RESUMO

Two promising strains of laccase producers--Lentinus strigosus 1566 and Steccherinum ochraceum 1833--were found by screening of basidiomycetes. The cultivation conditions increasing the enzyme yield were selected. The maximal laccase activity was observed in the case of submerged cultivation of the mycelium immobilized on polycaproamide fibers in rich media in the presence of 2 mM CuSO4 in combination with the optimal inducer, namely, 2,6-dimethylphenol for L. strigosus and 2,4-dimethylphenol for S. ochraceum. Under these conditions, the activity of S. ochraceum laccase amounted to 33.1 U/ml and that of L. strigosus, to 186.5 U/ml. Anthracene was transformed with S. ochraceum laccase, and its oxidation to anthraquinone was demonstrated by mass spectrometry.

RESUMO

Simplified dynamic models have been developed for predicting the concentrations of radiocesium, radiostrontium, and I in surface waters and freshwater fish following a large-scale radioactive fallout. The models are intended to give averaged estimates for radionuclides in water bodies and in fish for all times after a radioactive fallout event. The models are parameterized using empirical data collected for many lakes and rivers in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, UK, Finland, Italy, The Netherlands, and Germany. These measurements span a long time period after fallout from atmospheric nuclear weapons testing and following the Chernobyl accident. The models thus developed were tested against independent measurements from the Kiev Reservoir and Chernobyl Cooling Pond (Ukraine) and the Sozh River (Belarus) after the Chernobyl accident, from Lake Uruskul (Russia), following the Kyshtym accident in 1957, and from Haweswater Reservoir (UK), following atmospheric nuclear weapons testing. The AQUASCOPE models (implemented in EXCEL spreadsheets) and model documentation are available free of charge from the corresponding author.

RESUMO

Sapoviruses were found, for the first time, to be circulating in children with acute gastroenteritis in the city of Moscow. On the basis of a genetic analysis, they were classified as belonging to genotypes 1 and 2. Two groups of sapoviruses that are essentially different from the strains presented now at the GenBank NCBI were described within the case study.

RESUMO

The decadeoxynucleotides d(pTTC)3 and d(CCATCTTTT) transcription by E. coli RNA-polymerase was studied. The nucleotide composition of d(pTTC)3 transcript was shown to be consistent with that of the template, but RNA-product was several times longer than the template. With nonanucleotide d(CCATCTTTT) the poly(A) synthesis was observed. This fact may be attributed to the reiteration on the TTTT-cluster. When using the oligonucleotide primers d(pGGA) and r(pAAAA) complementary to the templates d(pTTC)3 and d(CCATCTTTT), accordingly, the nucleosidetriphosphates concentration being reduced and the RNA-polymerase "holo" being replaced by "core", the considerable decrease in the unhomogeneity of the transcript length and in the length itself was found. With d(pTTC)3 as a template the length of RNA-product was found to be of 24-25 nucleotides and with d(CCATCTTTT) it was of 18-19 nucleotides. The sequence of RNA transcribed from both templates in the presence of primers was in accordance with the structure of templates.
