RESUMO

The effectiveness of vaccination against virus hepatitis B (VHB) in the arid region of the Aral, endemic with respect to VHB, was evaluated. The character of specific immune response in 101 immunized children and in 12 adults belonging to a high risk group with respect to VHB. The vaccination of children was shown to be highly effective (96%). The average concentration of anti-HBs antibodies in these children was 856--133 IU/L after completed vaccination and 733--238 IU/L after revaccination. The comparative analysis of antibody levels in children at different periods after complete vaccination indicated that the level of anti-HBs antibodies in recipients decreased with the increase of time elapsed after the moment of vaccination. The effectiveness of the immunization of adults was low, which was probably due to the specific features of immune response to vaccination characteristic of their age and, in one case (a female recipient), to the presence of HBsAg.

RESUMO

A significant decrease in the absolute content of T-lymphocytes and an increase in the percentage of macrophages were revealed in patients with acute and chronic brucellosis, persons vaccinated with live brucellosis vaccine and in persons with a positive reaction to brucellin. At the peak of acute brucellosis infection and at an early period following immunization with live brucellosis vaccine a high percentage of cases showing the presence of T-lymphocytes sensitized to brucellosis antigen was observed.

RESUMO

The presence of HBs--Ag in the blood was established in 1.8% of practically healthy persons, in 29.7% of virus hepatitis patients and in 86.0% of serum hepatitis patients. The immunological study of clinically healthy HBs--Ag carriers revealed a statistically significant decrease in the number of T and B lymphocytes and an increased level of serum IgA, IgM and IgG in the blood. Among donors, 7.6% were found to have lymphocytes sensitized to HBs--Ag and 15.4% were found to have lymphocytes sensitized to liver antigen, while for HBs--Ag carriers these data were 62.5% and 50%, respectively.

RESUMO

Morphological characteristics of the liver and the presence of HBsAg in the blood serum, liver tissue, and pericholedocheal lymph nodes were examined in 25 patients with chronic liver diseases and 2 asymptomatic carriers of HBsAg. The antigen in tissues was demonstrated by indirect immunofluorescence and histochemically by staining with alcohol-arsein and aldehyde-fuxin. The antigen was found in the blood, liver tissue, and hepatocyte cytoplasm in both carriers and 10 patients. In 5 patients with liver cirrhosis and HBsAg antigenemia the antigen was also found in the liver tissue, in 1 patient it was absent in the blood but found in the liver, and in 2 patients it was absent in the blood and in the liver. In 5 patients with chronic hepatitis the antigen was demonstrated in the blood serum and the liver, in 12 patients it was not detected either in the blood or in the liver. In 8 patients enlarged pericholedocheal lymph nodes were examined, and in 6 of them HBsAg was detected in macrophages of the lymph nodes.

RESUMO

Quantitative content of T- and B-lymphocytes in the peripheral blood was studied after Mendes in 30 patients suffering from chronic opisthorcosis and in 30 practically healthy persons; immunoglobulins--M, G, and A were examined after Mancini, and the presence of autoantibodies in the blood serum was studied by indirect method of mast cells degranulation. There was revealed a reduction of the T-cell count to 28.8 +/- 2.28% (normal value--52.9 +/- 3.32%) and a fall of IgM level to 163.4 +/- 16.2 (207.2 +/- 10.5 in donors) in the patients; macrophages count was almost doubled. Autoantibodies to the antigens of the liver, gastric mucosa and the gall bladder wall were revealed in 1/3 of the patients.
