Every suicide must be seen as tragedy. The amount of that tragedy is sometimes extraordinary. For example, when families experience multiple suicides. The consequences should be, by enhanced postvention to prevent a PTSD-like syndrome and to consider more often the administration of SSRI in persons bereaved by suicide. When manifest phases are prevalent, substances like lithium are recommendable. The importance of psychotherapy and psychosocial intervention has to be emphasized.

The fact, that recently some new compounds and also subgroups of antidepressants appeared, justifies a reevaluation of that theme. Especially the class of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors is able to show a very favourable lethal dosis, contrasting very much to the classical tricyclics.

Jaspers exerts the same attitude in his philosophical as well as his psychiatric works. Thus, a permanent polarization is to realise: on one of two sides that, which is to be postulated--and on the other side that, which can be comprehended by empathy. Though the extension in the first group is sometimes bold-researchers today, express themselves with much more caution, despite the fact that more data are available today especially biological ones--the approach is similar anyway.

In two thirds the medication of melperon in a geriatric sample yielded good (and often very good) results. The most important item in evaluation process was psychomotor restlessness. We tried to apply a new approach: nurses had the task to score the patients.

The recent developments of depthpsychology and neurophysiology makes a new orientation and interpretation of dreams necessary. Koella for example describes night-mares of persons taking Beta-blockers. Of course, the great ideas of Freud and Adler should be integrated, not abandoned. Most of all influences of biologic factors on quality of dreams should be discussed.

[Development of a psychological superstructure in phobic patients]. / Die Ausbildung eines psychischen Uberbaus bei Phobikern.

Firstly the importance of a (behavioristically interpreted) psychic superstructure, that is formed by hypostatizing avoidance behavior and more direct reflex-mechanisms like rituals is emphasized. Phobic syndromes (in a larger sense) as well as their therapy should be understood in a better way. Just for this reason that superstructure should complement Freuds unconscious psychic life. Lastly possibilities of multidimensional work are commented.

[Retroviruses and their importance in neurology]. / Retroviren und ihre Bedeutung für die Neurologie.

Retroviruses comprise spumaviruses, lentiviruses and oncoviruses. After these taxonomic remarks neurologic-psychiatric-syndromes (multifocal leucencephalopathy, dementia-complex, vacuolar myelopathy and others) are described, that could be observed as manifestations of the "acquired immune deficiency syndrome". Some therapeutic measures are discussed, especially the administration of Zidovudine that shows good temporary results. Essentially Zidovudine works by misleading the Reserve Transkriptase by offering a "Fake-thymidine"--so misleading replication. Lastly the hypotheses concerning multiple sclerosis are put in relation to lentiviruses. Some animal variants of the viruses and their neurotropic features are described. This discovery has lead to those speculations--however, these speculations remain unsecure.

[Tiapride in the treatment of irreversible tardive dyskinesia--initial experiences]. / Tiaprid in der Behandlung irreversibler tardiver Dyskinesien--erste Erfahrungen.

Twelve patients on a chronic psychiatric ward with NL-induced permanent TD were treated with 300 mg tiapride daily for at least 3 weeks. Clinical assessment of TD was performed with AIM-Scale before and after 3 weeks' therapy, showing a significant effect of treatment. These preliminary findings were controlled in a blind study, showing again a significant therapeutic effect of tiapride.
