Telematics in primary health care: a concerted action (AIM-PRIMACARE A2105).

The AIM Concerted Action 'Telematics in Primary Care' tries to identify how the applications of telematics to general practice, in the framework of primary health care, can be further developed to improve the quality of health care in Europe. The concerted action started in January 1993 with a broad survey of the 'state of the art' in the different EC-countries. Three working groups will look at the following aspects: communication and data-flows, GP-systems for medical records and contextual aspects of telematics. Preliminary results will be available at the end of 1994. The concerted action hopes to contribute to enhance the importance of primary health care within the AIM-programme.

[Osteochondritis dissecans of the elbow (presentation of 2 rare cases)]. / L'osteocondrite dissecante del gomito (presentazione di due rari casi).

The authors show two cases of dissecting osteochondritis of elbow, confirming the frequent absence of a clinical symptomatology in the initial stages of such disease and the benignancy of its course. From a careful study of the casuistries present in literature, what emerges is the rareness of this location, together with a prudent therapeutical trend with periodic clinical and radiographical checkings, reserving the surgical solution to the cases of articular free body with episodes of block.

[Arthrography of the operated meniscus]. / L'artrografia nel menisco operato.

The authors performed 20 double contrast arthrographits in syntomatic patients after meniscectomy. The results demonstrate that the lesions occur more frequently in partially excised menisc compared with totally existed ones. In some cases no meniscal regeneration has been found for menisci excised 2 to 4 years before.

The authors had first experiences of hip arthrography in prostheses loosening in 1967. Now they explain the results obtained in 51 cases, aknowledging the limits of such a method in a few cases, but generally accepting the value of it for correct therapeutic choices.
