RESUMO

We propose and demonstrate asymmetric 10 Gbit/s upstream--100 Gbit/s downstream per wavelength colorless WDM/TDM PON using a novel hybrid-silicon chip integrating two tunable lasers. The first laser is directly modulated in burst mode for upstream transmission over up to 25 km of standard single mode fiber and error free transmission over 4 channels across the C-band is demonstrated. The second tunable laser is successfully used as local oscillator in a coherent receiver across the C-band simultaneously operating with the presence of 80 downstream co-channels.

RESUMO

We report on the performance of 100 Gb/s coherent non return-to- zero (NRZ-) polarization division multiplexed (PDM-) quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) transmission over 16 x 100 km of standard single mode fibre under constraints of typical transparent terrestrial networks, employing Erbium-Doped Fibre Amplifiers. We first evaluate the impact of cross non linear effects onto the performance of 100 Gb/s coherent PDM-QPSK signals and we investigate the impact of shifting one of the polarization multiplexed tributaries by half a symbol duration with respect to the other one. Finally we show that this solution is robust against channel-to-channel cross-talk from transparent nodes and does not suffer from performance degradation stemming from co-propagating 40 Gb/s channels.

RESUMO

A novel dual-control configuration of nonlinear loop mirrors is used for all-optical soliton synchronous regeneration. Simulations show substantial improvement in transmission in this device compared with singlecontrol devices, owing to chirp-free modulation. The absence of chirp is confirmed experimentally through a spectral analysis of the dual-control modulator.

RESUMO

Polarization-independent two-wavelength nonlinear-optical loop mirrors are analyzed theoretically by use of a Jones matrix model. The model is then applied to study the effect of fiber polarization group-velocity dispersion and control duty cycle on the extinction ratio in nonlinear-optical loop mirror demultiplexing.
