RESUMO
Continuous, 12 hours-long cardiotocographic recordings preceding intrauterine death of fetus (in 29 week) with non immunological hydrops were analysed. The features of CTG recordings were: absence of short and long-term variability, absence of tachycardia, presence of late decelerations, and terminal bradycardia of short duration.

The cardiotocography beside ultrasonography plays fundamental role in supervision of fetal well-being during gestation and labour. There were performed an analysis of 32 labour cardiotocograms according to Fisher and referred them to pH of fetal umbilical vein. There were proved high significant statistical relation between Fisher's index and pH p = 0.0002 (r = 0.61) and BE p = 0.0006 (r = 0.47) umbilical vein blood. In prediction of fetal acidosis the value of Fisher index in pH < or = 7.25 and described the sensitivity 100%, false positive 72.7%, false negative 0% and accuracy 75%. Obtained date do not differ from those given in literature. The low positive prediction and related with this high percentage of false positive results determine the fault of this indirect method of fetal status estimation.

There were performed measurements of AFI in 32 women during labour and they were referred to pH of neonatal umbilical vein. It was proved by significant statistic relation p = 0.034 (r = 0.375) between AFI and pH of umbilical vein blood. In anticipation of fetal acidosis with AFI < or = 5 cm with pH < or = 7.25 it was determined that: sensitivity 66.7%, specificity 58.6%, positive predictive value 14.3%, negative predictive value 94.4%, false positive 85.7%, false negative 5.6%, accuracy 59.4%. Obtained data do not differ from those given in literature. Measurements of AFI < or = 5 cm help in identification of the risk group (fetus in danger, of acidosis during labour) but due to low specificity and low positive predictive value (66.7% and 14.3% respectively). Clinical decisions should be made after consideration the result of the other tests of fetal well-being.

The relation between umbilical cord blood pH intra partum cardiotocography, amniotic fluid index and Apgar score was studied in 32 newborns. We found that cord blood pH, intra partum cardiotocography, amniotic fluid index, and Apgar score were rather poorly related.

Examinations of acid-base balance and activity of CK, GOT, GPT, LDH enzymes were performed in 32 full-term neonates after delivery. Statistical dependence was stated between GOT (p = 0.012) and LDH (p = 0.00012) activities and pH of umbilical venous blood. Statistical dependence was also stated between GOT and LDH activities and HCO3 and BE (p = 0.0008). Elevated values of GOT and LDH might indicate past fetal asphyxia.

On the basis of vaginal secretion cultures in 520 pregnant women admitted for labour, the susceptibility to drugs was studied of bacteria present in it. Four basic antibiotic groups were taken into account: penicillin derivatives, tetracyclines, aminoglycosides, cephalosporins. A higher resistance to the studied drugs was found of Gram (+) than Gram (-) bacteria, while the highest susceptibility was found to cephalosporins, and the lowest to aminoglycosides. Of interest was the high sensitivity of microorganisms to penicillin derivatives, which is of significant importance in view of their slight side effects and relatively low treatment cost.
