Eleven cases of pancreatic cystadenocarcinoma were studied with respect to the differential diagnosis from that of pancreatic pseudocysts, using diagnostic ultrasound as the initial investigative technique. Most of the cases presented an ultrasonic picture that correlated well with the gross pathology, but this correlation was not reliable enough to be considered characteristic in differentiating such masses from pseudocysts. The authors divide the cystadenocarcinomas of the pancreas into four echographic classes. In all but one of the classes, diagnostic ultrasound was insufficient by itself to render an accurate diagnosis. In such cases other techniques, i.e. CT, tissue biopsy, and especially angiography, were required for a reliable diagnosis.

Radiological appearance in 70 cases of pulmonary affection due to Mycoplasma pneumoniae are described. The most frequently seen radiological images are those in which a focus of bronchopneumonia sometimes associated with areas of atelectasis is observed. Reticulonodular lesions are observed less frequently but pseudomiliary or even pseudotumoral images may be present. Pleurisy was found in 17.1% of the cases, which is contrary to the data of the published literature, but no mediastinal or hilar adenopathy was observed. The authors emphasize the frequent unilateral localization of the lesions in the lower pulmonary zone, but stress that the classical migratory character of the lesions is difficult to evaluate in an affection which often involves multiple lesions.

The existence of renal agenesia was noted in 25 cases of about 1,500 abdominal angiographic examinations. Clinical symptomatology and radiological findings are discussed and some cases reported.

Measurements of the incident dose on the eye have been taken during the tomographic examinations of the middle ear. These measurements have been effectuated without any protection of the eye, and with a Pb-diaphragm protection, thickness 2mm. The tomograph which has been used is an Italian one (Eurostrator-Zuder, Genoa) provided with complex radiation movements (circular, spiral) and which gives technical resutlts such as the Polytom (generally used for these researches) but which has a focus film distance of 1m instead of 1.40 m. The average incident dose on the erystalline lens is high (11.7 R): the use of the Pb-diaphragm reduces the dose considerably (0.65 R) without any significant imperfections on the radiological image.

Pulmonary haematoma is relatively rare. Though on the increase as a consequence of a rise in the number of road accidents, it is not necessarily traumatic in origin. Three cases (two post-traumatic, out of 250 serious chest trauma cases examined) observed at the University of Turin chest and lung surgery centre over the last three years are presented. Data from the literature are also cited. A description is given of the typical radiological features: roundish opacity with distinct edges, homogeneous, in the site the pulmonary or subpleural ligament, slow involution. This picture may be sufficient for diagnosis when the history is not clear.
