RESUMO

Genetic and epigenetic changes were investigated in chronically irradiated Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) populations from territories that were heavily contaminated by radionuclides as result of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident. In comparison to the reference site, the genetic diversity revealed by electrophoretic mobility of AFLPs was found to be significantly higher at the radioactively contaminated areas. In addition, the genome of pine trees was significantly hypermethylated at 4 of the 7 affected sites.

RESUMO

The methods of simultaneous identification of hematological blood parameters are described, i.e. general hemoglobin concentration, relative concentrations of hemoglobin derivatives, erythrocyte volume concentration, some erythrocyte aggregational parameters, checked on the same methodological basis. The tests were carried out on the banked blood samples. Their authenticity and accuracy are proved by the data derived from other independent methods. The preference of the offered approaches used for blood parameters tests compared to the ones presently used are being discussed.

RESUMO

A study was made of the effect of dioxyacetone, a natural metabolite of carbohydrate metabolism, on blood rheological properties of man in vitro and experimental animals, with the drug being injected intravenously. It was discovered both in vitro and in vivo that dioxyacetone exhibits the remarkable rheological efficacy, provided its concentration in the blood amounts to 100 mg/100 ml.

RESUMO

The effect of the commercial preparations, egg white lysozyme and horse-radish peroxidase, as well as that of purified enzymes isolated from human saliva on lymphocyte biosynthesis of nucleic acids and protein was studied. Mitogenic activity of lymphocytes was found to be stimulated by crude preparations of egg white lysozyme and peroxidases of plant and animal origin. Lysozymes of the saliva and egg white purified by ion exchange chromatography and gel filtration had no such properties. As a result of egg white gel filtration, a new mitogen of the non-protein nature with a molecular weight several times higher than that of lysozyme was obtained.

RESUMO

Production of enzymes was studied in parotid, submandibular and mucosal salivary glands as well as in exfoliated epithelial cells, emigrating leukocytes and in dental bacterial plaque. alpha-Amylase and iodide peroxidase were mainly secreted into mixed saliva by parotid and submandibular glands. Alkaline phosphatase was produced mainly by mucosal salivary glands. These glands secreted also about one half of alkaline and acid proteases, acid phosphatase, both ribonucleases, lysozyme, alkaline peroxidase and lactate dehydrogenase. Role of leukocytes and epithelial cells as well as bacterial plaque was relatively negligible in formation of mixed saliva enzymes.

RESUMO

The cooperation of specific and nonspecific factors of humoral immunity in the regulation of granulocyte locomotion was studied. Bacterial antigens of dental plaque, immunoglobulins, lysozyme, peroxidase, ribonuclease and trypsin were found to moderately stimulate chemotaxis and granulocyte chemokinesis. Of these, the most pronounced chemotactic effect is induced by ribonuclease and chemokinetic one by lysozyme. The strongest chemotactic stimulus is generated during activation of complement by the classical pathway. Production of the complement chemotactic factor by the classical pathway was dramatically increased by lysozyme and decreased by ribonuclease and trypsin. The treatment of granulocytes with antimicrobial enzymes diminishes their susceptibility to the chemotactic factor.
