RESUMO
A 39-year-old man with foveal hypoplasia, nystagmus, and decreased visual acuity was found to have multiple, cutaneous, hypopigmented macules. Macromelanosomes were demonstrated in normal skin on histopathologic examination. The patient's constellation of findings along with a strong X-linked inheritance pattern in family members led to the diagnosis of X-linked ocular albinism, which is an uncommon condition that is characterized by congenital nystagmus, iris translucency, hypopigmentation of the ocular fundus, strabismus, foveal hypoplasia, photophobia, and impaired vision.

A 71-year-old man presented with a six-year history of a pruritic, erythematous, blistering eruption of the face, chest, and arms. Clinical findings, histopathologic features, and phototests were consistent with a diagnosis of chronic actinic dermatitis. The patient also had contact allergy and photocontact allergy to multiple allergens. A discussion of chronic actinic dermatitis is presented.

A 41-year-old woman presented with a 10-year history of grey-brown macules bilaterally on lateral forehead, temples, and malar aspects. Histopathologic examination showed dermal melanocytosis. Acquired bilateral nevus of Ota-like macules (Hori's nevus) is a condition usually found in middle-aged women of Asian descent. Pathogenesis is unknown, and effective treatment has been achieved with pigment-specific lasers.

A 57-year-old woman presented with a history of dry skin with an associated sensation of burning and itching. It had been previously diagnosed as psoriasis. Clinical and histopathologic examination were consistent with pityriasis rubra pilaris, and treatment consisted of acitretin and narrow-band ultraviolet B phototherapy. Pityriasis rubra pilaris is a papulosquamous disorder of unknown etiology, which can be treated with retinoids, methotrexate, cyclosporine, and narrow-band phototherapy.
