[Brazilian congresses -- bridges to freedom and nursing transformation]. / Os congressos brasileiros--pontes para a liberdade e transformação da Enfermagem.

This study concerns the comprehension of the converging points in Brazilian Nursing Congresses as well as of their contribution to the production of nursing knowledge. The investigation method used was that of historical research with a documental analysis of the Proceedings of Brazilian Nursing Congresses from 1977 to 1987. The main converging points appearing in the lecturers' speeches refer to: higher and secondary education; nursing care; healthcare policies; the image of nurses and its transformation over the years.

A few considerations are developed on how the disciplinary power, from Foucaut's stand-point, has been enacted on the members of the nursing team working within the hospital space, allowing in this way to know, to ponder and to make a new way to introduce changes in the area of Nursing.

[CAPS of Florianapolis: a group experience with psychotic clients outside the mental hospital, for 10 year]. / CAPS--florianópolis: uma experiência de grupo com clientes psicóticos fora dos muros do manicômio, durante dez anos.

It is an experience report done with chronic psychotic clients, in a process of institution disconstruction, that have been followed by a nurse in a CAPS*/NAPS from Florianópolis, during ten years, it is from 1989 to 1999. By the end of this period, it can be visualized that chronic psychotic clients, when they are in a systematic outpatient attendance with a link in a therapeutic group, can keep a reasonable health life, reaching their goals, overcoming their crises and keeping themselves out of the mental hospital.

[Leisure and recreation in a clinical unit: what the participating patients think and feel about it]. / Lazer e recreação em unidade de clínica médica: o que pensam e sentem os pacientes participantes.

This paper is a report of experience, accomplished with intern patients at two units of a University Hospital (H.U.), whose main objective was identifying how the intern patients perceived leisure activities and recreation during their hospitalisation, and what was these activities effect on the patients involved.

[Understanding the questions on health and disease from adolescents in Azorean families--sexuality and reproduction]. / Compreendendo questões de saúde e doença de adolescentes de família açoriana--sexualidade e reprodução.

This work presents data on a qualitative research conducted with adolescents from a community characterized by Azorean cultural traits. Besides focusing sexuality and reproduction questions of these young men and women in their relation with the sociocultural context, this study also brings to a focus the duty the nurse has to understand such relations, so as to be in a position to offer effective care.

Inflammatory pseudosarcoma (pseudotumor) of the bladder.

Inflammatory pseudosarcoma of the bladder is a rare benign entity that cannot be differentiated from malignant tumor at radiologic examination alone. Only pathologic examination can enable a definitive diagnosis. The authors report two cases of these benign tumors in patients with no history of bladder disease or trauma; the tumors were large, demonstrated invasion into local tissues, and recurred in one case after incomplete transurethral resection.
