RESUMO

A 42 years-old female presented with right inguinal swelling with one year of evolution. Magnetic resonance imaging was suggestive of inguinal endometriosis adherent to femoral vessels. Due to the rarity of this pathology (prevalence 0.3-0.6%), clinical suspicion is essential. Surgical excision is the treatment of choice.

RESUMO

Computed tomography showing portal and mesenteric venous gas and intestinal pneumatosis, rare radiological signs that, together, favor the diagnosis of mesenteric ischemia (70% of cases). When present, mortality is around 40-90%. Surgical exploration is mandatory with assessment of the extent of intestinal ischemia and appropriate treatment.

RESUMO

Traumatic injuries of the external carotid artery and its branches are relatively rare in clinical practice and they may occur following head injuries. The superficial temporal artery is particularly susceptible to injury, given to its superficial course and the fact that it is overlying the temporal bone. The authors report the clinical case of a 88 years-old female treated of a false aneurysm of the superficial temporal artery and they proceed to a review of the literature.

RESUMO

The authors report the clinical case of a 12-year-old boy with an extensive superficial venous network in almost every area of the body, present since birth and worsening in recent months, with the occurence of superficial venous thrombosis. No other changes on physical examination were noted, no symptoms and no analytical or imaging findings were found. Histological examination of the lesions revealed ectatic superficial veins without any proliferation of endothelial cells and the amount of elastin in the walls of these veins was decreased. The patient was diagnosed as a Bockenheimer's syndrome. The main features of this rare syndrome are described and discussed.
