Abordaje integral de la salud mental en hospitales generales / Comprehensive approach to mental health in general hospitals

La publicación ôAtención en Hospitales Generalesö forma parte de la serie ôRed de Abordaje y Atención en Salud Mental Comunitariaö, y tiene como objetivo acercar sugerencias y recomendaciones como herramientas de trabajo que orienten a la adecuación, la creación y el desarrollo de Servicios de Salud Mental dentro del ámbito de atención de hospitales generales. Se halla enmarcado en la Convención de los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad y la Ley Nacional de Salud Mental N°26.657, de su decreto reglamentario N°603/2013 y el Plan Nacional, entendiendo que la atención de la Salud Mental no debe efectuarse en instituciones monovalentes, si no que promueve, cuando sea necesario y se hayan rebasado las posibilidades de atención en terreno, la internación en hospitales generales. Estas Recomendaciones incluyen lineamientos y sugerencias para la adecuación y/o fortalecimiento de los servicios de Salud Mental en hospitales generales, los cuales deberán garantizar la atención sanitaria y social, integral y humanizada, con énfasis en la promoción de la salud, prevención e inclusión social de personas con padecimiento mental

In the present article we will show the results of the workshop known as The First Training Psychiatrists Latin-American Meeting (2012). We will explore as well, the impact of the psychiatric practice on young physicians who look to the specialty. In this article we intend to update existing bibliography on the subject, and share the results of two research studies done by this team: a questionnaire conducted to first year medical residents working in Metropolitan Buenos Aires (2008/9) and a workshop carried out with the participants of the Latin- American meeting mentioned above.
