RESUMO

Viral suspensions of herpetic virus were inoculated on different cell cultures: human diploid cells (HDC) and monkey kidney cells--primary culture and cell line--for adapting the virus on these cells and obtaining several high constant titers. The human diploid cells and the monkey kidney cell line have proved to be the most suitable cells for the virus growth; thus an optimum development of the virus with a high constant titer was obtained starting with the 4th passage (10(5.7)-10(6)CPD/50/ml). The optimum conditions provided for the herpetic virus culture have allowed to obtain a herpetic virus stock used as control preparation for testing the efficacy of the "OFTALMOHERPIN" biological preparation for current use in the prophylaxis and therapy of ocular herpes.

RESUMO

192 patients, 72 women and 120 men, aged 18-75, presenting genital herpes, were followed. Among these, 122 formed the test batch, exclusively with Antiherpin, and 70 represented the control batch, treated with other therapeutic preparations. Antiherpin was administered by percutaneous route, by scarification. The following results were obtained: in the test batch 68.02% recoveries, 30.33% improvements and 1.64% statu quo; in the control batch no recoveries were recorded: only 60% statu quo but also 40% aggravations. However, after Antiherpin treatment beginning, even in this batch favourable results were obtained: in statu quo category, 66.7% recoveries, 30.9% improvements were obtained, 2.4% being not influenced by the treatment; in aggravation category 50% recoveries, 42.9% improvements were obtained, 7.1% maintaining their statu quo. During Antiherpin treatment, no case of adverse reaction was recorded, the preparation being very well tolerated by the organism. The above mentioned results prove Antiherpin efficacy in the treatment and prevention of genital herpes, even in the case of the patients previously being administered another treatment type.

RESUMO

In a department for neonates 21 of the 34 children contracted infections with various clinical manifestations within a relatively short interval (approximately two weeks). Three of the children died and pathoanatomic examination revealed aspects characteristic of vascularitis and diffuse hemorrhage in most organs accompanied by infiltration and oedema. From the lethal cases, part of the sick and healthy children and personnel the same bacterium was isolated--Pseudomonas aeruginosa, suggesting an in-hospital epidemic.
