RESUMO
A 38-year-old man receiving cyclosporine A after bilateral lung transplantation for cystic fibrosis presented with cortical blindness, generalized seizures, and cerebellar edema. Progressive brainstem compression necessitated emergency posterior fossa decompression. Replacement of cyclosporine A with an alternative immunosuppressive agent, FK506, was followed by rapid neurological recovery and dramatic resolution of radiographic abnormalities. The etiology, clinical features, and radiographic findings of cyclosporine A neurotoxicity are discussed. The pertinent literature is reviewed.

Trauma to the cerebrovascular system can result in vascular injuries, such as dissection, pseudoaneurysm, thrombosis, rupture, and arteriovenous fistula. Although the diagnosis of vascular injury is usually considered in all cases of penetrating trauma, it may be overlooked in patients with nonpenetrating trauma. The possibility of vascular injury should be considered in all patients with head and neck trauma, especially those patients with acute or delayed neurologic dysfunction. Although intra-arterial angiography remains the gold standard diagnostic tool, the combination of MR imaging and MR angiography may permit noninvasive diagnosis of vascular injury. Moreover, MR readily provides detection of intracranial sequelae, such as cerebral infarction and intracranial hemorrhage.

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is the prototype of a group of vascular tumors characterized by epithelioid or histiocytoid endothelial cells. Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma of bone is a rare lesion that constitutes fewer than 1% of primary malignant skeletal neoplasms. We describe two cases that illustrate the spectrum of radiographic features seen with this neoplasm, and also present its appearance on magnetic resonance imaging.

Injection of 0.08 microgram/kg of CCK-8 into the anterior cerebral ventricles of the rat produced a significant depression in the rat's motivation for food for at least one-half hour, as measured by running speed to food rewards in a runway and by food intake in a test-meal in the rat's home cage. Doses of 0.04 microgram/kg were ineffective and doses of 0.06 microgram/kg intermediate. There was no effect of 0.08 microgram/kg on running speed to water rewards. Intraperitoneal doses of 8.0 micrograms/kg also suppressed running speed and eating.
