RESUMO
This paper is devoted to the mechanisms of development of chronic atrophic pharyngitis. A method is proposed for studying microcirculation in the mucous membrane at the posterior pharyngeal wall of the patients with this condition using laser Doppler flowmetry. The role of chronic somatic pathology in the development of pharyngeal dystrophy is demonstrated. It is shown that therapy with the synthetic neuropeptide is highly efficacious for the treatment of chronic atrophic pharyngitis.

The author summarizes the original experience with the surgical treatment of gunshot wounds on the neck with reference to the specific approaches for the purpose dictated by the marked variability of the clinical course. An active surgical strategy is proposed depending on the character of tissue lesions, the form and direction of the wound canal.

This paper presents characteristics of prevalence and structure of chronic otorhinolaringologic pathologies among native and alien urban residents of the Republic of Khakassia. A total of 2,607 subjects were selected and examined at random. Results of the cross-section study suggest high prevalence of ENT organ diseases among the examined population regardless of ethnic background. Comparative analysis of prevalence indices in the Europeoids and the Khakass revealed a number of specific differences in the epidemiology of ear, nose, and throat diseases between the two groups.

In 1992-2001 seventeen patients with juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas (JNAs) were treated at Krasnoyarsk Territorial Clinical Hospital. The patients underwent a comprehensive diagnosis involving computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and angiography, followed by tumor vascular embolization. Later on JNAs were surgically removed in 14 patients, a course of radiation therapy was performed. In suspected JNA, the authors consider it necessary to concomitantly use CT, MRI, and angiography, which provides the most complete diagnostic picture of a pathological focus. X-ray endovascular occlusion considerably lowers blood loss, facilitates a complete angiofibroma removal, and affects the tolerability of radiation therapy in inoperable cases.
