RESUMO
Male accessory gland inflammation may interfere with the reproductive potential and can result in the glands secretory dysfunction. Asymptomatic inflammations are difficult to diagnose. This study correlates the white blood cell count in semen to different biochemical markers of accessory gland function, e. g. zinc, citric acid, acid phosphatase, fructose, gamma-glutamyl, transferase to facilitate the diagnosis of asymptomatic inflammation. 230 patients were investigated using the WHO simplified protocol for the infertile couples (project N 84914). Basing on the semen leucocyte number, all the patients were divided into five groups. The semen and biochemical markers were analyzed according to the WHO guidelines including the regression analysis. The data obtained indicate that WBS in the semen correlates closely with reduced concentrations of seminal plasma citric acid and zinc.

Content of cAMP and cGMP was estimated in rat brain corpus striatum after treatment with narcotic analgetic fenaridin and antagonist of narcotic analgetics F1 which are similar chemically. Various concentrations of fenaridin increased the cAMP content, whereas that of cGMP was not altered. At the same time, administration of the antagonist of narcotic analgetics F1 led to an increase in content of cGMP and to a distinct elevation of cAMP content.

Rats with experimental pancreatitis manifest a lowering of the serotonin content in mast cells of the mesentery and connective tissue. Injection of prostaglandin E2 first causes a diminution and then an increase in the serotonin content of mast cells. Prostaglandin F2 alpha produces a lowering of the serotonin content of mast cells.

Increased vascular permeability of the mesentery was revealed in rats with experimental pancreatitis in the stage of pancreonecrosis with hemorrhagic component. This circumstance is related to a great extent to the release of biogenic amines, histamine and serotonine, from mast cells of the "microregion" and to the diminution of the amount of tissue eosinophils, an antihistamine link in the permeability control. Application of sodium thiosulfate improved vascular permeability, normalized the content of biogenic amines in mast cells and preserved the amount of eosinophils in the mesentery because of the protective effect of the drug on the pancreas.

The content of heparin in the blood and mast cell count in rat tissues were studied during different periods of experimental extrahepatic cholestasis induced in rats by ligation of the common bile duct. During cholestasis the blood heparin level proved to increase and the mast cell count fell on the 3rd day, increased on the 7th day and fell again on the 14th day. Correlation between the degranulated and nondegranulated forms of mast cells altered in favour of the latter. The fluctuation of mast cell counts and increase of degranulated forms is considered to be the best result of mast cell irritation produced by bile acids and pigments which accumulated in the organism.
