[Difficult differential diagnosis of malignant melanoma--case reports]. / Obtízná diferenciální diagnostika maligního melanomu - kazuistiky.

Malignant melanoma is one of the most malignant tumours. If it is diagnosed in the early stage, the prognosis is quite good. Timely diagnosis is essential as well as early surgical removal of the tumour in a specialized centre. The aim of the article is to highlight the difficult diagnosis and differential diagnosis of malignant melanoma. The authors describe a rare case of malignant melanoma in an eleven-year-old girl, a neglected finding of malignant melanoma in a young man, the difficult differential diagnosis of malignant melanoma and a case of malignant melanoma arising from a congenital naevus.The incidence of malignant melanoma is increasing worldwide, and it is therefore necessary to bear this diagnosis in mind when performing clinical examination of patients and discovering suspected lesions.

Our experience with operative treatment of malignant melanoma.

The result of studies of the series of patients with a malignant melanoma operated on radically and non-radically in our region was extended to include the time period from 1975 to 1983 and the new findings confirmed the results of our first study from 1983. No difference in the survival rate was found between the groups of radically and non-radically operated patients. The radicalness of the excision of a primary tumour does not influence the time of survival of the patients. This was also confirmed by the evaluation of the series of patients operated only with the non-radical method at our department during the recent years. On the basis of the results obtained within these 29 years in a series of 1800 patients with a malignant melanoma we recommend to perform the surgical treatment of a primary malignant melanoma with the use of a non-radical excision.

[A new therapeutic approach in trophic defects of the lower extremities]. / Nový lécebný prístup u trofických defektu dolních koncetin.

The authors describe the case of a 60-year-old woman patient with a crural ulcer with a traumatic, arterial, venous and lymphatic aetiology. After three-year unsuccessful treatment by conventional methods and surgery a combination of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and plastic surgery was used. This rational therapeutic approach was very effective and the authors recommend its introduction into routine practice.

There is a growing awareness of normal outlook of the male genitalia. Described technique of meatoplasty with reconstruction of the foreskin is a relatively simple but safe method with satisfactory results, both functional and cosmetic, in cases of glandular, coronal and anterior penile hypospadias, applicable in the absence of fibrous chordee.
