RESUMO
The ovarian cysts are one of the most common affections for females. Besides non-neoplastic functional cysts (follicular or luteal) with relatively small sizes, the neoplastic types, generally benign and that can be ascribed to serous tumors, of 10-15 cm or even bigger should be included. Nowdays, these neoformations are diagnosed relatively early, before they become of big dimensions, even if often they present few symptoms. Then it seems to be interesting to report a case recently observed of an ovarian cyst of 35x45x50 cm and weighing 23 kg in 29-year-old woman.

A case of male breast myofibroblastoma, personally observed, is described. Preoperative examinations have a limited diagnostic value. Only histological study, with immunohistochemical stain, allows to make a right diagnosis and to distinguish this tumor from other, benign or malignant mesenchymal neoplasms.

An internal hernia of the stomach through a gastro-splenic defect is presented. This exceptional condition, that we can include between abdominal internal hernias, induced an high bowel occlusion that needed of emergency surgical treatment. The dilatation of the stomach, the weakness of anchorage structures, its ability to rotation and the emptying kinetic activity posterior actually favoured the incarceration of a part of the posterior wall in a gastro-splenic defect. Detension, hernial reduction and suture of gastro-splenic defect resolved the case: no post-operative complications, the patient was discharged in eight post-operative day.

An experimental model of acute pulmonary edema was obtained in the rat, with over-infusion of normal saline and of plasma: histology demonstrated essential differences between edema from crystalloids, developed in the interstitial space, and that from colloids, affecting the alveoli.

The authors report a case of a ruptured right subphrenic abscess causing a diffuse peritonitis complicating a chronic empyema. The authors recommend active treatment of purulent pleurisies, particularly when they are associated with a bronchopleural fistula.

During acute experimental peritonitis in the rat, the main histological lesions in the liver are represented by venous stasis in the central lobular vein and in the sinusoids; by glycogen mobilization and intracytoplasmic accumulation of triglycerides in the hepatocytes; by activation and hypertrophy of Kupffer's cells.

An experimental model of acute and total venous stasis has been realized in kidney of rat by division of the renal vein. Different grades of histological damage have been observed, from initial interstitial edema with only degenerative changes in tubular epithelium to its final necrosis. On the contrary glomeruli appear less involved.

A condition of acute pulmonary edema was obtained experimentally in the dog, perfusing the lower lobe of the left lung by a roller pump with compatible canine plasma. The edema develops contemporarily to the increase of pressure in the pulmonary artery and the interstitial tissue: it diffuses principally in the interstitial tissue, while after clamping the pulmonary veins it is observed also inside the alveoli.
