RESUMO

Medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) production from waste activated sludge (WAS) by chain extension (CE) is a promising technology. However, the effects and mechanisms of CE process on the fate of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) remain unclear. In this study, the results showed that the removal efficiency of ARGs was 81.15 % in CE process, suggesting its efficacy in reducing environmental risks. Further, the observed decrease in mobile genetic elements (MGEs) indicated that CE process restricted the horizontal gene transfer (HGT). Complementing this, the increase in soluble organic matters and extracellular 16 S rDNA confirmed that MCFAs production caused bacterial damage. Decreased intracellular ARGs and increased extracellular ARGs further revealed that MCFAs production impaired ARGs hosts, thereby limiting the vertical gene transfer (VGT) of ARGs. Shift of microbial community combined with co-occurrence network analysis demonstrated that functional bacteria without host potential for ARGs were enriched, but potential ARGs and MGEs hosts decreased, showing the role of functional bacterial phylogeny and selection pressure of MCFAs in reducing ARGs. Finally, partial least squares path model was used to systematic verify the mechanism of ARGs removal in CE process, which was attributed to the inhibition of ARGs transmission (HGT and VGT) and shift of microbial community.

RESUMO

In the quasi-two-dimensional superconductor NbSe2, the superconducting transition temperature (Tc) is layer-dependent, decreasing by about 60% in the monolayer limit. However, for the extremely anisotropic copper-based high-Tc superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ (Bi-2212), the Tc of the monolayer is almost identical with that of its bulk counterpart. To clarify the effect of dimensionality on superconductivity, here, we successfully fabricate ultrathin flakes of iron-based high-Tc superconductors CsCa2Fe4As4F2 and CaKFe4As4. It is found that the Tc of monolayer CsCa2Fe4As4F2 (after tuning to the optimal doping by ionic liquid gating) is about 20% lower than that of the bulk crystal, while the Tc of three-layer CaKFe4As4 decreases by 46%, showing a more pronounced dimensional effect than that of CsCa2Fe4As4F2. By carefully examining their anisotropy and the c-axis coherence length, we reveal the general trend and empirical law of the layer-dependent superconductivity in these quasi-two-dimensional superconductors.

RESUMO

This study investigated the anti-aging mechanism of Xiyangshen Sanqi Danshen Granules based on metabonomics, network pharmacology, and molecular docking. The aging mice model was induced by intraperitoneal injection of D-galactose(D-gal). Mice were randomly divided into a control group, model group, melatonin group(MT group), and low, medium, and high dose groups of Xiyangshen Sanqi Danshen Granules(XSD-L, XSD-M, and XSD-H). An open-field experiment was conducted, and the expression of cell cycle arrest proteins(p16) and phosphorylated histone family 2A variant(γH2AX) in the brain tissue was detected by immunofluorescence. The expression of interleukin-1ß(IL-1ß) and interleukin-6(IL-6) in the brain tissue was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Metabolomics analysis was performed on the serum of mice in control, model, and XSD-H groups to obtain metabolic processes and metabolites. The effective chemical components and potential targets of Xiyangshen Sanqi Danshen Granules were predicted through network pharmacology, and the network diagram of "drug-effective chemical components-key targets" was constructed. Gene Ontology(GO) analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) analysis were carried out, and a protein-protein interaction(PPI) network was constructed to clarify the anti-aging mechanism of Xiyangshen Sanqi Danshen Granules. The results showed that the Xiyangshen Sanqi Danshen Granules could significantly improve the aging degree of D-gal mice, significantly improve the total motion distance and the mean motion speed of D-gal mice, and reduce the rest time. In addition, Xiyangshen Sanqi Danshen Granules could significantly reduce the protein levels of IL-6 and IL-1ß and the expression of p16 and γH2AX in D-gal mice. Compared with the model group, 66 differential metabolites(DMs) were significantly up-regulated, and 91 DMs were down-regulated in the XSD-H group. Moreover, four key metabolic pathways(tryptophan metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, pyrimidine metabolism, and lysine degradation) and 16 biomarkers(lysine, tryptophan, indoleacetaldehyde, PCs, LysoPCs, 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, melatonin, etc) were screened out. 58 main active components and 62 key targets of Xiyangshen Sanqi Danshen Granules were screened by network pharmacology. The GO functional enrichment analysis found the positive regulation of gene expression, drug response, etc. KEGG pathway enrichment screening involved diabetic complications-related AGE-RAGE signaling pathway, hypoxia inducible factor-1 signaling pathway, etc. Through the PPI network and molecular docking, six potential core targets of STAT3, MAPK1, MAPK14, EGFR, FOS, and STAT1 were screened.

RESUMO

3-D lane detection is a challenging task due to the diversity of lanes, occlusion, dazzle light, and so on. Traditional methods usually use highly specialized handcrafted features and carefully designed postprocessing to detect them. However, these methods are based on strong assumptions and single modal so that they are easily scalable and have poor performance. In this article, a multimodal fusion network (MFNet) is proposed through using multihead nonlocal attention and feature pyramid for 3-D lane detection. It includes three parts: multihead deformable transformation (MDT) module, multidirectional attention feature pyramid fusion (MA-FPF) module, and top-view lane prediction (TLP) ones. First, MDT is presented to learn and mine multimodal features from RGB images, depth maps, and point cloud data (PCD) for achieving optimal lane feature extraction. Then, MA-FPF is designed to fuse multiscale features for presenting the vanish of lane features as the network deepens. Finally, TLP is developed to estimate 3-D lanes and predict their position. Experimental results on the 3-D lane synthetic and ONCE-3DLanes datasets demonstrate that the performance of the proposed MFNet outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in both qualitative and quantitative analyses and visual comparisons.

RESUMO

Purpose: Recently, hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) has also gained popularity for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Several studies have compared HAIC and Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). However, comparisons between TACE plus HAIC and HAIC are rarely reported. Here, we evaluated the performance of HepaSphere DEB-TACE combined with HAIC (Hepa-HAIC) compared to HAIC in patients with advanced HCC. Patients and Methods: In this retrospective study, we enrolled 167 patients diagnosed with advanced HCC and treated at Peking University Cancer Hospital from May 2018 to May 2022. The cohort comprised 74 patients who received HepaSphere DEB-TACE combined with HAIC-FOLFOX (Hepa-HAIC) and 93 patients who received HAIC-FOLFOX. Over 60% of patients received prior treatments. To avoid selection bias, propensity score matching was applied to the efficacy and safety analyses. The primary endpoints are progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS); the secondary endpoints include objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), and safety. Results: Propensity-matching yielded 48 pairs, and group baselines were almost equal after matching. Median PFS and median OS were both higher in the matched Hepa-HAIC cohort (median PFS: 8.9 vs 5.8 months, p = 0.035; median OS: 22.4 vs 9.5 months, p = 0.027), which was consistent with pre-matching analysis. The ORR in the Hepa-HAIC and HAIC cohorts was 75.0% and 37.5%, respectively; the DCR was 93.8% after Hepa-HAIC and 81.3% after HAIC. There was no treatment-related death. Grade 3-4 ALT elevation was more frequent in the Hepa-HAIC group (33.3% vs 8.3%, p = 0.003), while vomiting was more frequent in the HAIC group (29.2% vs 12.5%, p = 0.084). Conclusion: The Hepa-HAIC group is superior to the HAIC group in metrics of PFS, OS, ORR, and DCR, which indicates the combination of HepaSphere DEB-TACE and HAIC may lead to improved outcomes with a comparable safety profile in advanced HCC.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Fructus Tribuli, the dried ripe fruit of Tribulus terrestris L., has various beneficial effects, including liver-calming and depression-relieving effects. Raw Fructus Tribuli (RFT) and stir-fried Fructus Tribuli (SFT) are included in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2020 edition (Ch. P 2020). However, owing to the lack of specific regulations on SFT-processing parameters in Ch. P 2020, it is difficult to ensure the quality of commercially available SFT. OBJECTIVE: The present study aimed to screen the quality markers (Q-markers) of RFT and SFT and optimize the processing technology of SFT based on the identified Q-markers. METHODS: First, the ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-TOF/MS) technology as well as multiple statistical analysis along with network pharmacology was used to comprehensively identify the Q-markers of RFT and SFT. Then, based on single-factor experiments, the Box-Behnken design (BBD) response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the processing technology of SFT and perform process validation. RESULTS: A total of 63 components were identified in RFT and SFT extracts. Terrestrosin D and Terrestrosin K were initially considered the Q-markers of RFT and SFT, respectively. The optimum processing technology conditions were 208°C, 14 min, and 60 r·min-1 . Three batches of process validation were performed, and the mean composite score was 56.87, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) value of 1.13%. CONCLUSION: The content of steroidal saponin components in RFT was significantly different before and after stir-frying. Terrestrosin D and Terrestrosin K were validated as the Q-markers of RFT and SFT, respectively. The identification of Q-markers for RFT and SFT offered a clear index for optimizing the SFT-processing technology and provided a basis for the quality control of RFT and SFT decoction pieces.

RESUMO

We report the synthesis, crystal structure, and physical properties of a novel ternary compound, Th2Cu4As5. The material crystallizes in a tetragonal structure with lattice parameters a = 4.0639(3) Å and c = 24.8221(17) Å. Its structure can be described as an alternating stacking of fluorite-type Th2As2 layers with antifluorite-type double-layered Cu4As3 slabs. The measurement of electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat reveals that Th2Cu4As5 undergoes bulk superconducting transition at 4.2 K. Additionally, all these physical quantities exhibit anomalies at 48 K, accompanied by a sign change in the Hall coefficient, suggesting a charge-density-wave-like (CDW) phase transition. Drawing from both experimental data and band calculations, we propose that the superconducting and CDW-like phase transitions are, respectively, associated with the Cu4As3 slabs and the As plane in the Th2As2 layers.

RESUMO

AIM: To analyze the risk factors for oxaliplatin (OXA)-induced severe hypersensitivity reactions and identify the recurrence rate of the reactions after an OXA rechallenge in patients treated with hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC). METHODS: Among the 2251 patients treated with HAIC (OXA), 84 patients with gastrointestinal cancer who displayed hypersensitivity reactions between May 2013 and May 2022 were included in this study. Among the 84 patients, 23 (27.4%) developed severe anaphylactic reactions (grade III/IV), and 61 (72.6%) developed grade I/II reactions. We explored the risk factors for severe OXA-induced hypersensitivity reactions. Twenty-seven patients with grade I/II reactions underwent retreatment (HAIC with OXA), and the recurrence rate of the hypersensitivity reactions was determined. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the risk factors for OXA-induced hypersensitivity reaction. RESULTS: In the study, multivariate analysis indicated that the dose of OXA (odds ratio [OR] 3.077, 95 % confidence interval [CI] 1.106-8.558, p = 0.031) was an independent risk factor for OXA-induced severe hypersensitivity reactions. Twenty-seven patients with non-severe hypersensitivity reactions underwent retreatment HAIC with OXA and 14 (51.9 %) experienced HSR recurrence, including 2 (7.4 %) who experienced hypersensitivity shock. CONCLUSIONS: The administration of OXA doses is a risk factor for OXA-induced severe hypersensitivity reactions in patients treated with HAIC (OXA). Rechallenging HAIC with OXA appears to be associated with a higher recurrence rate of the HSR.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Despite advancements in spinal metastasis surgery techniques and the rapid development of multidisciplinary treatment models, we aimed to explore the clinical efficacy of spinal metastasis surgery performed by a combined NOMS decision system-utilizing multidisciplinary team and Revised Tokuhashi scoring system, compared with the Revised Tokuhashi scoring system. METHODS: Clinical data from 102 patients with spinal metastases who underwent surgery at three affiliated hospitals of Zunyi Medical University from December 2017 to June 2022 were analysed. The patients were randomly assigned to two groups: 52 patients in the treatment group involving the combined NOMS decision system-utilizing multidisciplinary team and Revised Tokuhashi scoring system (i.e., the combined group), and 50 patients in the treatment group involving the Revised Tokuhashi scoring system only (i.e., the revised TSS-only group). Moreover, there were no statistically significant differences in preoperative general data or indicators between the two groups. Intraoperative and postoperative complications, average hospital stay, mortality rate, and follow-up observation indicators, including the visual analogue scale (VAS) score for pain, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status, Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) score, negative psychological assessment score (using the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, [SAS]), and neurological function recovery score (Frankel functional classification) were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: All 102 patients successfully completed surgery and were discharged. The follow-up period ranged from 12 to 24 months, with an average of (13.2 ± 2.4) months. The patients in the combined group experienced fewer complications such as surgical wound infections 3 patients(5.77%), intraoperative massive haemorrhage 2 patients(3.85%), cerebrospinal fluid leakage 2 patients(3.85%), deep vein thrombosis 4 patients(7.69%),and neurological damage 1 patient(1.92%), than patients in the revised TSS-only group (wound infections,11 patients(22%); intraoperative massive haemorrhage, 8 patients(16%);cerebrospinal fluid leakage,5 patients(10%);deep vein thrombosis,13 patients (26%); neurological damage,2 patients (4%). Significant differences were found between the two groups in terms of surgical wound infections, intraoperative massive haemorrhage, and deep vein thrombosis (P < 0.05). The average postoperative hospital stay in the combined group (7.94 ± 0.28 days) was significantly shorter than that in the revised TSS-only group (10.33 ± 0.30 days) (P < 0.05). Long-term follow-up (1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year postoperatively) revealed better clinical outcomes in the combined group than in the revised TSS-only group in terms of VAS scores, overall KPS%, neurological function status Frankel classification, ECOG performance status, and SAS scores.(P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: A multidisciplinary team using the NOMS combined with the Revised Tokuhashi scoring system for spinal metastasis surgery showed better clinical efficacy than the sole use of the Revised Tokuhashi scoring system. This personalized, precise, and rational treatment significantly improves patient quality of life, shortens hospital stay, reduces intraoperative and postoperative complications, and lowers mortality rates.

RESUMO

Prognostic features in advanced perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (pCCA) patients who received first-line hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) are unknown. The purpose of our study was to develop an applicable score based on serum inflammatory-tumor biomarkers to predict the survival of advanced pCCA patients who received first-line HAIC. In total, 106 advanced pCCA patients were enrolled as the training cohort. The optimal cutoff values of baseline variables were defined by the receiver operating characteristic method or according to previous publications. According to the results of Cox regression analysis, baseline neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) > 3.19, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) > 10 ng/mL, and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) > 200 U/mL were identified as independent survival predictors, which were used to develop the NLCECA score (NLR, CEA, and CA19-9). When including the NLCECA score in the multivariate analysis, the NLCECA score was the only independent predictor of survival. The risk of survival decreased by 111.9% for each 1-point increase in the NLCECA score. Additionally, the NLCECA score could also predict survival in another 33 patients in the validation cohort (P < 0.001). In summary, the NLCECA score is a potential biomarker system for predicting the survival of advanced pCCA patients who received first-line HAIC.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: There are few studies on the establishment of diagnostic models for diabetic nephropathy (DN) in in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients based on biomarkers. This study was to establish a model for diagnosing DN in T2DM. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, data were collected from the Second Hospital of Shijiazhuang between August 2018 to March 2021. Totally, 359 eligible participants were included. Clinical characteristics and laboratory data were collected. LASSO regression analysis was used to screen out diagnostic factors, and the selected factors were input into the decision tree for fivefold cross validation; then a diagnostic model was established. The performances of the diagnosis model were evaluated by the area under the receiver operator characteristic curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy. The diagnostic performance of the model was also validated through risk stratifications. RESULTS: Totally, 199 patients (55.43%) were diagnosed with DN. Age, diastolic blood pressure (DBP), fasting blood glucose, insulin treatment, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), platelet distribution width (PDW), uric acid (UA), serum creatinine (SCR), fibrinogen (FIB), international normalized ratio (INR), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were the diagnostic factors for DN in T2DM. The diagnostic model presented good performances, with the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, AUC, and accuracy being 0.849, 0.969, 0.971, 0.838, 0.965, and 0.903, respectively. The diagnostic model based on the stratifications also showed excellent diagnostic performance for diagnosing DN in T2DM patients. CONCLUSION: Our diagnostic model with simple and accessible factors provides a noninvasive method for the diagnosis of DN.

RESUMO

Oxidative stress triggered by aging, radiation, or inflammation impairs ovarian function by inducing granulosa cell (GC) apoptosis. However, the mechanism inducing GC apoptosis has not been characterized. Here, we found that ovarian GCs from aging patients showed increased oxidative stress, enhanced reactive oxygen species activity, and significantly decreased expression of the known antiapoptotic factor sphingosine-1-phosphate/sphingosine kinase 1 (SPHK1) in GCs. Interestingly, the expression of Krüppel-like factor 12 (KLF12) was significantly increased in the ovarian GCs of aging patients. Furthermore, we determined that KLF12 was significantly upregulated in hydrogen peroxide-treated GCs and a 3-nitropropionic acid-induced in vivo model of ovarian oxidative stress. This phenotype was further confirmed to result from inhibition of SPHK1 by KLF12. Interestingly, when endogenous KLF12 was knocked down, it rescued oxidative stress-induced apoptosis. Meanwhile, supplementation with SPHK1 partially reversed oxidative stress-induced apoptosis. However, this function was lost in SPHK1 with deletion of the binding region to the KLF12 promoter. SPHK1 reversed apoptosis caused by hydrogen peroxide-KLF12 overexpression, a result further confirmed in an in vitro ovarian culture model and an in vivo 3-nitropropionic acid-induced ovarian oxidative stress model. Overall, our study reveals that KLF12 is involved in regulating apoptosis induced by oxidative stress in aging ovarian GCs and that sphingosine-1-phosphate/SPHK1 can rescue GC apoptosis by interacting with KLF12 in negative feedback.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the genotypes of the pathogenic gene COL4A5 and the characteristics of clinical phenotypes in children with Alport syndrome (AS). METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed for the genetic testing results and clinical data of 19 AS children with COL4A5 gene mutations. RESULTS: Among the 19 children with AS caused by COL4A5 gene mutations, 1 (5%) carried a new mutation of the COL4A5 gene, i.e., c.3372A>G(p.P1124=) and presented with AS coexisting with IgA vasculitis nephritis; 3 children (16%) had large fragment deletion of the COL4A5 gene, among whom 2 children (case 7 had a new mutation site of loss51-53) had gross hematuria and albuminuria at the onset, and 1 child (case 13 had a new mutation site of loss3-53) only had microscopic hematuria, while the other 15 children (79%) had common clinical phenotypes of AS, among whom 7 carried new mutations of the COL4A5 gene. Among all 19 children, 3 children (16%) who carried COL4A5 gene mutations also had COL4A4 gene mutations, and 1 child (5%) had COL4A3 gene mutations. Among these children with double gene mutations, 2 had gross hematuria and proteinuria at the onset. CONCLUSIONS: This study expands the genotype and phenotype spectrums of the pathogenic gene COL4A5 for AS. Children with large fragment deletion of the COL4A5 gene or double gene mutations of COL4A5 with COL4A3 or COL4A4 tend to have more serious clinical manifestations.

RESUMO

This study proposes a new model in which ethanol and acetate produced by dark fermentation are processed by Clostridium kluyveri for chain elongation to produce caproate with an addition of biochar prepared from cornstalk residues after acid pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis (AERBC) in the dark fermentation and chain elongation processes. The results show a 6-25% increase in hydrogen production in dark fermentation with adding AERBC, and the maximum concentration of caproate in the new model reached 1740 mg/L, 61% higher than that in the control group. In addition, caproate was obtained by dark fermentation, using liquid metabolites as substrates with an initial pH range of 6.5-7.5. Finally, the electron balance and electron transfer efficiency in the new model were analyzed, and the role of AERBC in dark fermentation and chain elongation was investigated. This study provides a new reference for the use of dark-fermented liquid metabolites and cornstalk residue.

RESUMO

Ten undescribed diterpenoids namely rubellawus E-N of structural types pimarane (1, 3-4), nor-abietane (2), nor-pimarane (5-6), isopimarane (7-9), and nor-isopimarane (10), along with eleven known compounds, were isolated and identified from the aerial parts of Callicarpa rubella Lindl. The structures of the isolated compounds were confirmed by comprehensive spectroscopic analyses and quantum chemical computations. Pharmacologically, almost all the compounds exhibited a potential inhibitory effect on oxidized low-density lipoprotein-induced macrophage foam cell formation, which suggests that these compounds may be promising candidates in the treatment of atherosclerosis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Transarterial chemoembolization combined with hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (TACE-HAIC) has shown encouraging efficacy in the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We aimed to develop a novel nomogram to predict overall survival (OS) of patients with unresectable HCC treated with TACE-HAIC. METHODS: A total of 591 patients with unresectable HCC treated with TACE-HAIC between May 2009 and September 2020 were enrolled. These patients were randomly divided into training and validation cohorts. The independent prognostic factors were identified with Cox proportional hazards model. The model's discriminative ability and accuracy were validated using concordance index (C-index), calibration plots, the area under the time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and decision curve analyses (DCAs). RESULTS: The median OS was 15.6 months. A nomogram was established based on these factors, including tumor size, vein invasion, extrahepatic metastasis, tumor number, alpha fetoprotein (AFP), and albumin-bilirubin (ALBI), to predict OS for patients with unresectable HCC treated with TACE-HAIC. The C-index of the nomogram were 0.717 in the training cohort and 0.724 in validation cohort. The calibration plots demonstrated good agreement between the predicted outcomes and the actual observations. The AUC values were better than those of three conventional staging systems. The results of DCA indicated that the nomogram may have clinical usefulness. The patients in the low-risk group had a longer OS than those in intermediate-risk and high-risk groups (P<0.001). CONCLUSION: A prognostic nomogram was developed and validated to assist clinicians in accurately predicting the OS of patients with unresectable HCC after TACE-HAIC.

RESUMO

Methods: This was a single-arm historical cohort study of ESCC patients with synchronous or heterochronous LM between December 2014 and July 2021 at the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology. The patients were treated with HAIC for LM, and regular image assessments were performed according to the judgment of the interventional physician. Liver progression-free survival (PFS), liver objective response rate (ORR), liver disease control rate (DCR), overall survival (OS), adverse events (AEs), treatment information, and basic characteristics were observed retrospectively. Results: Overall, a total of 33 patients were enrolled in this study. All included patients received catheterized HAIC therapy, with a median of three (ranging from 2 to 6) sessions. The treatment response of liver metastatic lesions included partial response (PR) in 16 (48.5%) patients, stable disease (SD) in 15 (45.5%) patients, and progressive disease (PD) in two (6.1%) patients, for an ORR of 48.5% and a DCR of 93.9%. The median liver PFS was 4.8 months (95% confidence interval (CI): 3.0-6.6 months), and the median OS was 6.4 months (95% CI: 6.1-6.6 months). Patients who achieved PR at the liver metastasis site after HAIC were more likely to have a longer OS than those who achieved SD or PD. Grade 3 AEs occurred in 12 patients. The most common grade 3 AE was nausea, occurring in 10 (30.0%) patients, followed by abdominal pain in three (9.1%) patients. Only one patient showed grade 3 elevation of alanine aminotransferase (ALT)/aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and one patient suffered from grade 3 embolism syndrome AEs. Grade 4 adverse events, followed by abdominal pain, occurred in one patient. Conclusion: Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy might be an option as a regional therapy for ESCC patients with LM, as it is acceptable and tolerable.

RESUMO

The long-range magnetic ordering in frustrated magnetic systems is stabilized by coupling magnetic moments to various degrees of freedom, for example, by enhancing magnetic anisotropy via lattice distortion. Here, the unconventional spin-lattice coupled metamagnetic properties of atomically-thin CrOCl, a van der Waals antiferromagnet with inherent magnetic frustration rooted in the staggered square lattice, are reported. Using temperature- and angle-dependent tunneling magnetoconductance (TMC), in complementary with magnetic torque and first-principles calculations, the antiferromagnetic (AFM)-to-ferrimagnetic (FiM) metamagnetic transitions (MTs) of few-layer CrOCl are revealed to be triggered by collective magnetic moment flipping rather than the established spin-flop mechanism, when external magnetic field (H) enforces a lattice reconstruction interlocked with the five-fold periodicity of the FiM phase. The spin-lattice coupled MTs are manifested by drastic jumps in TMC, which show anomalous upshifts at the transition thresholds and persist much higher above the AFM Néel temperature. While the MTs exhibit distinctive triaxial anisotropy, reflecting divergent magnetocrystalline anisotropy of the c-axis AFM ground state, the resulting FiM phase has an a-c easy plane in which the magnetization axis is freely rotated by H. At the 2D limit, such a field-tunable FiM phase may provide unique opportunities to explore exotic emergent phenomena and novel spintronics devices.

RESUMO

The mechanism of removing antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistant genes (ARGs) by persulfate was attributed to the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, the potential contribution of decreased pH in persulfate system to ARB and ARGs removal has rarely been reported. Here, the efficiency and mechanism of removing ARB and ARGs by nanoscale zero-valent iron activated persulfate (nZVI/PS) were investigated. Results showed that the ARB (2 × 108 CFU/mL) could be completely inactivated within 5 min, and the removal efficiencies of sul1 and intI1 were 98.95% and 99.64% by nZVI/20 mM PS, respectively. Investigation of mechanism revealed that hydroxyl radicals was the dominant ROS of nZVI/PS in removing ARB and ARGs. Importantly, the pH of nZVI/PS system was greatly decreased, even to 2.9 in nZVI/20 mM PS system. Impressively, when the pH of the bacterial suspension was adjusted to 2.9, the removal efficiency of ARB, sul1 and intI1 were 60.33%, 73.76% and 71.51% within 30 min, respectively. Further excitation-emission-matrix analysis confirmed that decreased pH contributed to ARB damage. The above results on the effect of pH indicated that the decreased pH of nZVI/PS system also made an important contribution for the removal of ARB and ARGs.
