RESUMO

The authors report 2 cases of renal multilocular cyst and review 250 cases reported in the literature, revealing the original features of this benign tumour which has an equal incidence in children and adults with a controversial acquired or malformative aetiopathogenesis, precise histological features, but a difficult preoperative and intraoperative diagnosis despite modern imaging techniques. In the great majority of cases, treatment consists of nephrectomy.

RESUMO

The authors report a case of necrosed carcinoma oif the kidney presenting clinically with fever and a large abdomino-lumbar palpable mass and developing thirty years after functional exclusion of the kidney by tuberculosis. The two particular features were: displacement by the tumour or calcifications in this known mastic kidney, and the poor vascularisation of a necrosed tumour irrigated by an artery of small calibre. The association of tuberculosis and carcinoima, although rare, is no less well known: discovery of a carcinoma in a nephrectomy specimen (for tuberculosis), discovery of tuberculosis in the parenchyma around a carcinoima of the kidney. The rarest possibility remains that of development of a carcinoma of the kidney in a kidney non-functioning and mastic for years, but is sufficiently rare not to be an argument in favour of the excision of all non-functional tuberculous kidneys after adequate antituberculous therapy.

RESUMO

Solid, intra renal tumors of children and infants are in most cases nephroblastomas. All the other types of solid tumors, malignant or benign, are very rare. This observation seems to be the seventh case of intra renal teratoma in the literature. The entire upper pole of the left kidney had disappeared, being occupied by a large tumor which proved to be solid upon specific examinations. Anatomo-pathologic examination, following nephrectomy, proved it to be benign.

RESUMO

A case of intrarenal teratoma in a newborn child is reported. The scarcity as well as the clinical and radiological signs of this lesion are emphasized and the difficulties to distinguish it from a nephroblastoma are analyzed. Solid intrarenal tumours in the infant and the newborn child are in nearly all cases nephroblastomas. All other types of solid tumours (benign or malignant) are exceptional. This induces us to report the present case.

RESUMO

A great many approaches have been suggested to stop the very pronounced hematuria which on occasion complicates bladder tumors and radiocystitis or drug induced cystitis. Some clinicians have recommended instilling diluted formol in the bladder. The writers report on their impressions of this method based on experience with three cases. They elucidate possible procedural guidelines taking into account various intervening complications.

RESUMO

On the basis of three cases, the authors study the problem of perineal urinary fistula secondary to rectal surgery. They first note that little attention has been devoted to these lesions. The clinical and radiological features are described and analysed, in a pathological context. Treatment of these fistulae is difficult if a conservative approach is sought, and the best solution is perhaps nephrectomy or bypass by a Bricker operation carried out either initially or after an attempt at repair has failed.

RESUMO

Amongst infective lesions of the kidney, xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis has a place of its own. Whilst some consider it to be a distinct entity, others classify it within the broad group of the pyonephroses. From a clinical standpoint, lithiasis is common and urinary infection quasiconstant. Radiological appearances and the therapeutic approach differ according to whether it is, as is most common, a generalised form or the much rarer localised form. On the basis of 3 cases, the authors review the principal features of this curious condition.

RESUMO

On the basis of a clinical case, the authors review the principal signs of Bourneville tuberose sclerosis and show the renal manifestations which may be encountered. The most common is the presence in both kidneys of tumours which are hamartomas. In addition, this patient suffered from hypertension and renal insufficiency. Their frequency and pathogenesis are discussed in the context of this disease.

RESUMO

Idiopathic priapism is rare and even more so when it affects a pre-pubertal child. The authors study this curious disorders on the basis of one case and show the value of caverno-spongiosal anastomosis, even when carried out late.

RESUMO

Repairing a pelvic ureter is always an ideal when the kidney above it is still functional. But this operation imposes technical artifices when direct urtero-vesical implantation is not possible. Referring to four cases, the authors show the value of the psoic bladder and compare it with the tubulate vesical strip and vesical bipartition.

RESUMO

Among the entero-urinary fistulae, the most frequent are those fistulae which unite the sigmoid colon and the bladder. Fistulae between the ureter and the colon are ecxeptional as only two spontaneous ureterocolic fistulae have been reported. With reference to one case, the authors review the different complementary examinations which enable making the diagnosis and discuss the therapeutic attitude, which differs depending on whether the kidney above the fistula is functional or not.

RESUMO

In a 25-year-old woman presenting with a right ureteric stenosis, the authors had the surprise to find at operation an extensive tumour of the small intestine. The tumour compressed the ureter and involved the common iliac, artery, requiring a complex surgical procedure with major vessel repair.
