RESUMO

In two groups of the persons participating in liquidation of the Chornobyl Power Plant Catastrophe (individuals which suffered from acute radiation sickness and those ones who were exposed to irradiation at doses 0.25-1.0 Gy) in a year after medical treatment the free amino acids, their derivatives, glucose, sodium lactate and pyruvate homeostasis changed in comparison with the control. The causes and possible mechanisms of these substances exchange regulation disorders in the key biochemical reactions ensuring the body organs and systems functioning were estimated. The experimental findings received can be used at planning the further examination and treatment-and-prophylactic measures for the persons which have been affected by ionizing radiation consequently the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

RESUMO

According clinico-epidemiological and experimental data there are positive correlation between irradiation and risk of atherosclerosis development. Taking into account that primary physico-chemical effects of ionising radiation influences on organism were connected with biologically active free-radical and their products formation, its pathogenic role under radiation-induced atherosclerotic injures of cardiovascular system is postulate. The development of atherosclerosis includes some consecutive stages beginning with free-radical activation in arterial tissues and blood. The free radical and their reactive species involves physico-chemical changes in plasmatic membranes and lipoproteins, damages of genome, cytotoxicity (apoptosis or reproductive death) and opposite effect of cytoprotection. The activation of intrinsic recovery/repair mechanisms after above types of injury has been associated with the induction of changes in amount of B,E- receptors and lipoproteins modification, the increase of the complexes lipoprotein-antibody. The subsequent events demonstrate the development of dyslipoproteinemias, the functional and morphological injures, appearance of "foam cells" and atherosclerotic damages of arterial wall.

RESUMO

Microwave resonance treatment (MRT) of duodenal ulcer leads to normalization of relationships between aggressive and defense ulcerogenesis factors. This combines with activation of reparative regeneration of the ulcer lesion. There appears a tendency to a decline in pepsin and hydrochloric acid secretion in the gastric juice, plasmic gastrin concentrations decrease more noticeably, production of protective glycoproteins of the gastric mucus grows as well as of E 2 prostaglandins and plasmic secretin. Typical changes in the quantities of plasmic bombesin, vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (lowering) and gastroinhibitory polypeptide (rising) in the MRT course allow prognostication of case-by-case responses. The highest sensitivity to MRT was observed in functional regulatory biochemical systems (neuropeptides, hormones) of the APUD series. Their reaction to MRT served the basis for biochemical typing of the patients and MRT outcome prognostication.

RESUMO

Superoxide dismutase (SOD) from rat brain cell nuclei has been distinguished. After chromatography on hydroxylapatite Sephacryl S200 and Mono S SOD can be purified 1200 times. It is Mn-depending enzyme, which has molecular weight 10 kDa and firmly associated with transcriptionally active chromatin. SOD is most active at high ion strength (1.2-2 M NaCl). The more sensitive method for SOD activity determination is suggested (modification of adrenaline autoxidation at pH 10.2).

RESUMO

The influence of external single gamma-irradiation with a dose of 1 Gy on the isoenzyme composition of lactate dehydrogenase, malate dehydrogenase, esterase and acid phosphatase in the cytoplasm of rat brain cells has been investigated. Irradiation was shown to cause differently directed changes in the ratio of the isoenzymes under study at different times after exposure. The isoenzyme spectrum of lactate dehydrogenase and malate dehydrogenase was shown to be normalized on day 30 after irradiation, whereas the isoform composition of esterase and acid phosphatase was not stabilized at that time.

RESUMO

Content of lipids, character of chemiluminescence of blood plasma and certain classes of lipoproteins have been studied. Geometrical parameters, nature and quantity of charged groups of lipoprotein particles accessible for titration have been determined 1 and 30 days after a single external gamma irradiation of rats in a dose of 3 Gy. The used irradiation dose exerts an expressed hyperlipidemic effect retained for one month after irradiation. The disturbances in the spectrum of blood lipids and lipoproteins are of hyper-beta and hyper-prebeta lipoproteinemia character. Considerable disturbances of physicochemical properties of different classes of lipoproteins have been detected. They are exhibited in changes of the pattern of free-radical processes, state of the charge of surface ionogenic groups and geometrical parameters of lipoprotein particles. Changes registered by the methods of potentiometric titration and correlation spectroscopy are most expressed in lipoproteins of very low density and those of low density.

RESUMO

Characteristic of lipoprotein spectrum and state of free-radical processes in the animals under action of ionizing radiation and cholesterin diet are comparatively studied. The content of lipids in the blood serum increases on the 5th day after irradiation and then decreases on the 15th and 30th days. Cholesterin diet increases the content of cholesterin under practically unchanged content of triglycerides in the blood serum in all the terms of investigations. Total decrease of the intensity of induced chemiluminescence of the blood serum and erythrocytes after irradiation is shown. Peroral introduction of cholesterin evokes differently directed changes in the light sum of chemiluminescence--a decrease in erythrocytes and increase in the blood serum.

RESUMO

Single external gamma-irradiation in a dose of 0.5-2 Gy as well as the long-term (30 days) internal irradiation caused by the everyday influx of Cs-137 and Sr-85 isotopes to the organism have been studied for their effect on the activity and properties of histone-specific proteinase from the nuclei of the rat brain cortex cells. It is found out that external irradiation induces a dose-dependent increase of the activity during the first 24 hours after irradiation followed by its decrease 7-30 days later. Internal irradiation induces a decrease of the enzyme activity at the 30th day as well. Certain specificity of the studied indices depending on the type of irradiation has been also observed.

RESUMO

Exposure of rats to radiation in a dose of 1 Gy changes sensitivity of chromatin in the cerebral cortex cells to the action of DNAase 1, which promotes an increase of the DNA hydrolysis level and content of dissolved chromatin fractions. A day after irradiation the chromatin structure restores only partially and then (7-30 days after irradiation) it passes into a new, less compact state. The irradiation changes the chromatin ability to aggregation in the presence of Mg2+ and spermidine.

RESUMO

The content of lipids and lipoproteins, the state of free-radical processes and the level of eicosanoids (prostaglandin F-1L and thromboxane B-2) have been studied in the blood plasma and in certain classes of lipoproteins in rats 2 and 24 h after external gamma-radiation in doses of 1.2 and 3 Gy. Hypertriglyceridemia and hyperprebetalipoproteinemia, whose expressivity increases with a radiation dose are revealed. The activation of free-radical processes, an increase of the thromboxane V-2 content and a decrease of the prostaglandin F-1L content are observed with a dose of 1 Gy.

RESUMO

The content of ceruloplasmin, fibronectin and selenium was evaluated in the blood plasma of acute myocardial infarction patients within the first three days after onset if the disease. Results showed a reduction of fibronectin during the first hours after onset of the disease. The content of ceruloplasmin was increased, selenium reduced during the entire period of examination indicating pronounced disturbances of lipid peroxidation in the acute period of myocardial infarction as well as potentiation of antioxidant processes.

RESUMO

Lipid and lipoprotein spectrum of the blood plasma was investigated and phenotyping of hyperlipoproteinaemias was carried out in men exposed to ionizing radiation and suffered from acute radiation illness as a result of the Chernobyl accident. An increase of the total cholesterol triglycerides and content frequency of atherogenic types of hyperlipoproteinaemias in comparison with average levels of population both a year and 3 years after irradiation was observed. No essential differences were found between the obtained indices 1 and 3 years after irradiation which testified to the stability of the revealed disturbances.

RESUMO

Irradiation of rats with doses of 0.5 to 2 Gy was shown to cause dose-dependent changes in the sensitivity of brain cell chromatin to the effect of DNAase I that were manifested by the increased level of DNA hydrolysis and a high content of the chromatin soluble fractions. The chromatin structure was only partially restored 24 h after irradiation. Changes in the chromatin structure were accompanied by the increase in the histone-specific proteinase activity.

RESUMO

The biochemical and physicochemical characteristics of nonrespiratory pulmonary functions were determined in 255 children of school age according to the condensate of exhaled air. As compared to the younger children, those belonging to the senior age groups manifested an increase of specific respiratory moisture loss. As compared to winter, specific respiratory moisture loss in summer was found to be decreased; the condensate of exhaled air was discovered to have a higher content of total protein, elevated concentration of surface active substances in the lung surfactant, and to show a certain tendency towards reduction of the intensity of the processes of free radical oxidation. No sex-associated differences were established between the characteristics under study.
