INTRODUCTION: Concerns regarding bleeding remain in cold snare polypectomy (CSP) for small pedunculated (0-Ip) polyps. The aim of this study was to compare the risk of CSP and hot snare polypectomy (HSP) for such lesions. METHODS: Data on 0-Ip colorectal polyps ≤10 mm were extracted from a large, pragmatic, randomized trial. Immediate postpolypectomy bleeding (IPPB), defined as the perioperative use of a clip for bleeding, was evaluated through polyp-level analysis. Delayed postpolypectomy bleeding (DPPB), defined as bleeding occurring within 2 weeks postoperatively, was assessed at the patient-level among patients whose polyps were all ≤10 mm, including at least one 0-Ip polyp. RESULTS: A total of 647 0-Ip polyps (CSP: 306; HSP: 341) were included for IPPB analysis and 386 patients (CSP: 192; HSP: 194) for DPPB analysis. CSP was associated with a higher incidence of IPPB (10.8% vs 3.2%, P < 0.001) but no adverse clinical events. The procedure time of all polypectomies was shorter for CSP than for HSP (123.0 ± 117.8 vs 166.0 ± 237.7 seconds, P = 0.003), while the procedure time of polypectomies with IPPB were similar (249.8 ± 140.2 vs 227.4 ± 125.9 seconds, P = 0.64). DPPB was observed in 3 patients (1.5%) in the HSP group, including one patient (0.5%) with severe bleeding, but not in the CSP group. DISCUSSION: Despite CSP being associated with more IPPB events, it could be timely treated without adverse outcomes. Notably, no delayed bleeding occurred in the CSP group. Our findings support the use of CSP for 0-Ip polyps ≤ 10 mm.

The use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) is on the rise among young adults, with higher public acceptance than traditional tobacco. A study in Taiwan employed concept mapping to explore risk and benefit perceptions of e-cigarette use among college students. The study involved 100 college students from 11 Taiwanese universities, with 50 being e-cigarette users and 50 non-users. Data collection and analysis were done with the GroupWisdom™ platform. Participants engaged in brainstorming, rating and sorting their perceptions, which were analyzed using multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analyses. The participants' mean age was 19.24 years, and 55% were male. This process resulted in the identification of 10 clusters encompassing 64 statements, with 3 clusters focused on risk perceptions, 6 on benefit perceptions, and 1 dealing with e-cigarette regulations. Notably, risk perceptions were rated higher than benefit perceptions. Non-users held significantly higher risk perceptions and lower benefit perceptions across the nine clusters related to e-cigarette use. Concept mapping proved to be an effective tool for understanding college students' perceptions. These findings can assist health educators in comprehending college students' viewpoints on e-cigarette use and in developing targeted interventions. Additionally, exploring benefit perceptions may enhance students' critical thinking skills regarding e-cigarette advertising.

This study aimed to examine the relationship between social media use, e-health literacy, and the risk and benefit perceptions of e-cigarettes among college students in Taiwan. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted with 1,571 Taiwanese college students, which included four questionnaires to assess participants' perceptions, social media use behavior, e-health literacy, and sociodemographic factors. The data were presented in terms of means, standard deviations, and percentages. Stepwise regression was used to identify factors associated with the participants' perceptions. The study found that 75.01% of the participants were exposed to e-cigarette information on social media, with 31.26% actively searching for it and 15.95% sharing it. Participants had a high e-cigarette risk perception, indicating low benefit perception, but acceptable e-health literacy. Factors such as current e-cigarette and tobacco use, e-health literacy, academic achievement, and sex significantly predicted e-cigarette risk perception, while sharing e-cigarette related information, sex, age, academic achievement, and current e-cigarette use significantly predicted its benefit perception. Thus, implementing effective e-health literacy programs to enhance college students' e-cigarette risk perception is recommended along with a proactive approach to tackle e-cigarette advertising messages on social media, minimizing their sharing behavior to decrease their perception of associated benefits.

AIM: To investigate the continuing education requirements and factors influencing school nurses' needs in relation to medication administration on school campuses. DESIGN: A total of 391 school nurses working in K-12 schools in Taiwan were invited to participate in an online questionnaire survey. METHODS: This cross-sectional study employed a probability proportionate to size technique along with a random sampling method. Data were collected from February to April 2023. RESULTS: School nurses reported a significant demand for continuing education and perceived moderate levels of stress and government support related to medication administration. Among the various dimensions, the highest demand was observed for 'definition of campus medication errors' and 'regulations for campus medical orders.' Moreover, the 'identifying drug interactions' and 'adverse drug effects and referrals' dimensions were identified as the most stressful aspects. Notably, perceived stress emerged as the sole predictive factor for continuing education demand, accounting for 16.1% of the variance. CONCLUSIONS: The study found that there was a significant demand for and moderate stress related to continuing education among school nurses. Therefore, it is crucial for the government and school nursing organizations to develop targeted programs focusing on medication administration. These initiatives should be designed to enhance nurses' capabilities and reduce their stress, thereby ensuring safe medication administration on campuses. IMPACT: Continuing education enables school nurses to acquire up-to-date knowledge and improve the workflow in their practice. This study highlights a strong need for education in medication administration with a focus on 'campus medication error definitions' and 'campus medical order regulations.' The government and relevant school nursing organizations should prioritize the development and implementation of continuing education programs to decrease the school nurses' stress related to medication administration. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to develop and evaluate a scenario-based nutrition literacy (NL) online programme for Taiwanese college students. DESIGN: A randomised pilot trial design was used in this study. SETTING: The study was conducted at a university in Taiwan. The intervention consisted of a five-unit web-based NL programme including videos of real-life scenario-based stories, situational analysis teaching and after-unit quizzes. Theme-related website information and smartphone apps (both iOS and Android systems) were offered for reference in every unit. The NL measure consisted of a self-rated scale, a scenario-based test and a healthy eating behaviour survey. Paired sample t-tests and ANCOVA were performed to test the effects on NL and healthy eating behaviour. PARTICIPANTS: Participants were ninety-eight students, with a retention rate of 98 %. The ratio of men to women was 0·2:1. Most students were freshmen (48 %). RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the experimental group showed significant post-intervention improvements in the NL and healthy eating behaviours after controlling for pretest scores. CONCLUSIONS: This pilot study offers preliminary evidence of the potential positive effects of implementing a scenario-based NL online programme for college students. It offers a possibly novel strategy to enhance health-promoting behaviours in Taiwanese universities. Further research with larger sample sizes and more rigorous designs is warranted to confirm and build upon these initial findings.

Implementation of proton-exchange membrane water electrolyzers for large-scale sustainable hydrogen production requires the replacement of scarce noble-metal anode electrocatalysts with low-cost alternatives. However, such earth-abundant materials often exhibit inadequate stability and/or catalytic activity at low pH, especially at high rates of the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Here, the authors explore the influence of a dielectric nanoscale-thin oxide layer, namely Al2 O3 , SiO2 , TiO2 , SnO2 , and HfO2 , prepared by atomic layer deposition, on the stability and catalytic activity of low-cost and active but insufficiently stable Co3 O4 anodes. It is demonstrated that the ALD layers improve both the stability and activity of Co3 O4 following the order of HfO2 > SnO2 > TiO2 > Al2 O3 , SiO2 . An optimal HfO2 layer thickness of 12 nm enhances the Co3 O4 anode durability by more than threefold, achieving over 42 h of continuous electrolysis at 10 mA cm-2 in 1 m H2 SO4 electrolyte. Density functional theory is used to investigate the superior performance of HfO2 , revealing a major role of the HfO2 |Co3 O4 interlayer forces in the stabilization mechanism. These insights offer a potential strategy to engineer earth-abundant materials for low-pH OER catalysts with improved performance from earth-abundant materials for efficient hydrogen production.

We investigated school nurses' experiences, perceived government support, school nurses' acceptance of responsibility for medication administration, perceived stress, and perceived competence of medication administration and analyzed factors associated with perceived competence. In this cross-sectional study, from February to April 2023, we conducted an online survey of 269 school nurses serving at K-12 schools in Taiwan. The results revealed that although 71% of the participants had prior experience with medication administration, they reported low competence and high stress in areas such as drug interactions, adverse drug effects, and referrals. The school nurses' disagreement with responsibilities for medication administration emerged as the only factor to be significantly associated with perceived medication administration competence, accounting for 22.8% of the variance. We recommend implementing continuing training programs to provide school nurses with up-to-date medication information. Additionally, the development of practice guidelines is suggested as a means of enhancing nurses' competence and reducing their stress levels for the administration of medications.

Cancer cachexia is a multifactorial disorder characterized by weight loss and muscle wasting, and there are currently no FDA-approved medications. In the present study, upregulation of six cytokines was observed in serum samples from patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and in mouse models. A negative correlation between the levels of the six cytokines and body mass index in CRC patients was seen. Gene Ontology analysis revealed that these cytokines were involved in regulating T cell proliferation. The infiltration of CD8+ T cells was found to be associated with muscle atrophy in mice with CRC. Adoptive transfer of CD8+ T cells isolated from CRC mice resulted in muscle wasting in recipients. The Genotype-Tissue Expression database showed that negative correlations between the expression of cachexia markers and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) in human skeletal muscle tissues. Pharmacological treatment with Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC), a selective CB2 agonist or overexpression of CB2 attenuated CRC-associated muscle atrophy. In contrast, knockout of CB2 with a CRISPR/Cas9-based strategy or depletion of CD8+ T cells in CRC mice abolished the Δ9-THC-mediated effects. This study demonstrates that cannabinoids ameliorate CD8+ T cell infiltration in CRC-associated skeletal muscle atrophy via a CB2-mediated pathway. Serum levels of the six-cytokine signature might serve as a potential biomarker to detect the therapeutic effects of cannabinoids in CRC-associated cachexia.

Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic profoundly impacts lifestyle habits and myopia control in children worldwide. This study investigated the changes in eyecare habits, orthokeratology compliance, axial length, and time interval of follow-up visits during home confinement in the COVID-19 pandemic in Taiwan. Methods: This investigation was part of a prospective study undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile application. A semi-structured telephone interview was conducted with parents retrospectively to document eyecare habits and myopia control during the COVID-19 home confinement. Results: Thirty-three children with myopia participated in the follow-up of orthokeratology lenses for 2 years. The children's time viewing digital devices such as tablets and televisions significantly increased during the COVID-19 pandemic (P < 0.05). An analysis using McNemar's test found that the proportional growth of axial length <0.2 mm in 2021 was significantly higher than that in 2020 (77.42% vs. 58.06%, P < 0.05). In the multivariate logistic regression analysis, onset <10 years of age (P = 0.001) and parents with high myopia (P < 0.001) were independent risk factors for the growth of axial length ≥0.2 mm in 2021. Conclusion: The suspension of face-to-face classes and after-school tutorials benefited myopic axial elongation in children during COVID-19 home confinement. The use of digital devices and staying indoors may not be the exclusive reasons for myopia progression. Educating parents about the influence of extra learning classes after school on myopia progression would be prudent.

BACKGROUND: Although cold snare polypectomy (CSP) is considered effective in reducing delayed postpolypectomy bleeding risk, direct evidence supporting its safety in the general population remains lacking. OBJECTIVE: To clarify whether CSP would reduce delayed bleeding risk after polypectomy compared with hot snare polypectomy (HSP) in the general population. DESIGN: Multicenter randomized controlled study. (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03373136). SETTING: 6 sites in Taiwan, July 2018 through July 2020. PARTICIPANTS: Participants aged 40 years or older with polyps of 4 to 10 mm. INTERVENTION: CSP or HSP to remove polyps of 4 to 10 mm. MEASUREMENTS: The primary outcome was the delayed bleeding rate within 14 days after polypectomy. Severe bleeding was defined as a decrease in hemoglobin concentration of 20 g/L or more, requiring transfusion or hemostasis. Secondary outcomes included mean polypectomy time, successful tissue retrieval, en bloc resection, complete histologic resection, and emergency service visits. RESULTS: A total of 4270 participants were randomly assigned (2137 to CSP and 2133 to HSP). Eight patients (0.4%) in the CSP group and 31 (1.5%) in the HSP group had delayed bleeding (risk difference, -1.1% [95% CI, -1.7% to -0.5%]). Severe delayed bleeding was also lower in the CSP group (1 [0.05%] vs. 8 [0.4%] events; risk difference, -0.3% [CI, -0.6% to -0.05%]). Mean polypectomy time (119.0 vs. 162.9 seconds; difference in mean, -44.0 seconds [CI, -53.1 to -34.9 seconds]) was shorter in the CSP group, although successful tissue retrieval, en bloc resection, and complete histologic resection did not differ. The CSP group had fewer emergency service visits than the HSP group (4 [0.2%] vs. 13 [0.6%] visits; risk difference, -0.4% [CI, -0.8% to -0.04%]). LIMITATION: An open-label, single-blind trial. CONCLUSION: Compared with HSP, CSP for small colorectal polyps significantly reduces the risk for delayed postpolypectomy bleeding, including severe events. The aim of this study was to examine the associations between job stressors, COVID-19-related concerns, burnout, and mental health and well-being among school nurses, and whether any of these associations are mediated by burnout. Based on stratified proportional sampling, data collection was conducted by an online questionnaire distributed to 600 school nurses in Taiwan. A total of 256 participants aged between 27 and 62 years (mean = 47.08; standard deviation = 7.28) returned questionnaires. Results showed that burnout was the main mediating variable that fully mediated the relationship between COVID-19-related concerns and mental health and well-being. The effects of job stressors on mental health and well-being included direct negative effects (ß = -.29) and indirect negative effects (ß = -.67) through mediating factors. School health managers should be more aware of burnout and mental health and well-being among school nurses under the impact of COVID-19.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and periodontitis in the aspects of periodontal status, serological markers, and oral microbiome. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty AD and 20 healthy subjects were enrolled in this age- and gender-matched case-control study. Clinical periodontal parameters and serum biomarkers, including amyloid ß42 (Aß42 ), Tau, phosphorylated Tau (pTau), triglyceride, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and anti-Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide (LPS) antibody were examined. The saliva samples were analyzed for oral microbiome composition. RESULTS: Alzheimer's disease patients with Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) ≥1 exhibited significantly more clinical attachment loss (CAL) than those with lower CDR. The levels of serum Tau protein, hsCRP and anti-P. gingivalis LPS antibody were markedly elevated in the AD group compared with the control group. Serum pTau protein level was positively correlated with anti-P. gingivalis LPS antibody titer. Moreover, the increased abundances of Capnocytophaga sp ora clone DZ074, Eubacterium infirmum, Prevotella buccae, and Selenomonas artemidis were detected in the AD group. Interestingly, serum levels of Aß42, pTau, and anti-P. gingivalis LPS antibody were strongly related to the gene upregulation in human pathogen septicemia. CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggested the association of periodontal infection and oral microbiome with AD. Further large-scale studies with longitudinal follow-up are warranted.

Objectives: Between May and July 2021, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic led to a sharp surge in community transmission in Taiwan. We present a three-stage restructuring process of pre-endoscopy triage at the beginning of the pandemic, which can support urgent endoscopic procedures while protecting endoscopy staff. Methods: The pre-endoscopy triage framework was set up with three checkpoints at the hospital entrance, outpatient department, and endoscopy unit, with a specific target patient population and screening methods. Relevant data included the number of endoscopic procedures performed, outpatient department visits, and performing screening methods such as temperature measurement, travel, occupation, contact, and clustering history checking, polymerase chain reaction assay, and rapid antigen test. Results: Forehead temperature measurement and verification of travel, occupation, contact, and clustering history provided rapid, easy, and early mass screening of symptomatic patients at the hospital entrance. During the pandemic, outpatient department visits and endoscopic procedures decreased by 37% and 64%, respectively. The pre-endoscopy screening methods used displayed regional variations in COVID-19 prevalence. Among 16 endoscopy units with a community prevalence of ≥ 31.04 cases per 100,000 residents, 12 (75%) used polymerase chain reaction assay and four (25%) used rapid antigen test to identify asymptomatic patients before endoscopy. Of 6540 pre-endoscopy screening patients, 15 (0.23%) tested positive by laboratory testing. No endoscopy-related nosocomial COVID-19 infections were reported during the pandemic. Conclusions: We present a three-stage pre-endoscopy triage based on the local laboratory capacity, medical resources, and community prevalence. These measures could be useful during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This study explored the structural characteristics, mechanical properties, and oxidation behavior of W-enriched TaWSiN films prepared through co-sputtering. The atomic ratios [W/(W + Ta)] of the as-deposited films maintained a range of 0.77-0.81. The TaWSiN films with a Si content of 0-13 at.% were crystalline, whereas the film with 20 at.% Si was amorphous. The hardness and Young's modulus of crystalline TaWSiN films maintained high levels of 26.5-29.9 GPa and 286-381 GPa, respectively, whereas the hardness and Young's modulus of the amorphous Ta7W33Si20N40 films exhibited low levels of 18.2 and 229 GPa, respectively. The oxidation behavior of TaWSiN films was investigated after annealing at 600 °C in a 1%O2-Ar atmosphere, and cone-like Ta0.3W0.7O2.85 oxides formed and extruded from the TaWSiN films.

In this paper, we present a wound-dressing-based antenna fabricated via screen-printed and inkjet-printed technologies. To inkjet print a conductive film on wound dressing, it must be screen-printed, UV-curable-pasted, and hard-baked to provide appropriate surface wettability. Two passes were UV-curable-pasted and hard-baked at 100 °C for 2 h on the wound dressing to obtain 65° WCA for silver printing. The silver film was printed onto the wound dressing at room-tempature with 23 µm droplet spacing for three passes, then sintered at 120 °C for 1 h. By optimizing the inkjet printing conditions by modifying the surface morphologies and electrical properties, three-pass printed silver films with 3.15 µm thickness and 1.05 × 107 S/m conductivity were obtained. The insertion losses at the resonant frequency (17 and 8.85 GHz) were -2.9 and -2.1 dB for the 5000 and 10,000 µm microstrip transmission lines, respectively. The material properties of wound dressing with the relative permittivity and loss-tangent of 3.15-3.25 and 0.04-0.05, respectively, were determined by two transmission line methods and used for antenna design. A quasi-Yagi antenna was designed and implemented on the wound-dressing with an antenna bandwidth of 3.2-4.6 GHz, maximal gain of 0.67 dBi, and 42% radiation efficiency. The bending effects parallel and perpendicular to the dipole direction of three fixtures were also examined. The gain decreased from 0.67 to -1.22 dBi and -0.44 dBi for a flat to curvature radius of 5 cm fixture after parallel and perpendicular bending, respectively. Although the maximal gain was reduced with the bending radius, the directivity of the radiation pattern remained unchanged. The feasibility of a wound-dressing antenna demonstrates that inkjet-printed technology enables fast fabrication with low cost and environmental friendliness. Additionally, inkjet-printed technology can be combined with sensing technology to realize remote medical monitoring, such as with smart bandages, for assessment of chronic wound status or basic physical conditions.

BACKGROUND: Orthokeratology (Ortho-k) is an effective method for slowing the progression of myopia and correcting refractive error in school children. Although parents of children aged < 10 years play a major role in Ortho-k lens care, they have a generally low level of compliance in performing regular follow-up visits. PURPOSE: This study was developed to analyze the associations between follow-up visits by parents of Ortho-k lens wearers aged < 10 years and, respectively, the Ortho-k-related knowledge of these parents and information resources promoting Ortho-k use. METHODS: A cross-sectional study design was used. Parents of children who wear Ortho-k lenses were recruited through a private Facebook group with 3,500 members in 2020 that was created in 2018 for information sharing and exchange among parents of these children. The following data were collected: demographics of the parents and their children, four-item Ortho-k-related knowledge, information resources that prompted the decision to use Ortho-k, and the regularity of follow-up visits. These data were presented in terms of means, standard deviations, and percentages. Logistic regression was performed to compute the odds ratios ( OR s) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). RESULTS: The study showed that 83.11% had regular follow-up visits. The correct response rate on Ortho-k-related knowledge was > 80%. However, 15.51% of the participants did not recognize axial length as an indicator for monitoring myopia progress, and 10.76% did not know that at least 6 hours of nighttime sleep is required for myopia control with Ortho-k. The most common information resource leading to Ortho-k use was self-acquisition from Internet sources. The spherical equivalent refraction of < -2.0 D was 2.58 times higher in participants with regular follow-up visits than in their peers with irregular follow-up visits ( OR = 2.58, 95% CI [0.22, 5.63]). In addition, acknowledgment of "There is no need to change the Ortho-k lenses regularly as long as there is no discomfort" was 7.19 times higher in participants with regular follow-up visits than in their peers with irregular follow-up visits ( OR = 7.19, 95% CI [1.26, 13.93]). However, participants with regular follow-up visits did not receive Internet ophthalmology advertisements prompting their decision to use Ortho-k 2.62 times higher than their peers with irregular follow-up visits ( OR = 2.62, 95% CI [0.04, 4.29]). CONCLUSIONS: The results support that both information sources and knowledge of Ortho-k use influence the frequency of follow-up visits among parents of Ortho-k lens wearers aged < 10 years. Related support from health professionals in terms of providing appropriate information and guidance is recommended to promote higher rates of regular follow-up visit attendance.

Copper nanowires (CuNWs)-based thin film is one of the potential alternatives to tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) in terms of transparent conductive films (TCFs). However, the severe problem of atmospheric oxidation restricts their practical applications. In this work, we develop a simple approach to fabricate highly stable TCFs through the dip-coating method using reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and CuNWs as the primary materials. Compared with previous works using toxic reduction agents, herein, the CuNWs are synthesized via a green aqueous process using glucose and lactic acid as the reductants, and rGO is prepared through the modified Hummers' method followed by a hydrogen-annealing process to form hydrogen-annealing-reduced graphene oxide (h-rGO). In the rGO/CuNWs films, the dip-coated graphene oxide layer can increase the adhesion of the CuNWs on the substrate, and the fabricated h-rGO/CuNWs can exhibit high atmospheric oxidation resistance and excellent flexibility. The sheet resistance of the h-rGO/CuNWs film only increased from 25.1 to 42.2 Ω/sq after exposure to ambient atmosphere for 30 days and remained almost unchanged after the dynamic bending test for 2500 cycles at a constant radius of 5.3 mm. The h-rGO/CuNWs TCF can be not only fabricated via a route with a superior inexpensive and safe method but also possessed competitive optoelectronic properties with high electrical stability and flexibility, demonstrating great opportunities for future optoelectronic applications.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a chronic and often irreversible disease that requires active self-care to mitigate adverse outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the associations of demographic and disease data, frailty, health literacy (HL), and CKD self-care (CKDSC) in patients with CKD. We conducted a cross-sectional study at two hospitals in Taiwan. A total of 144 CKD patients with a mean age of 66.8 ± 9.1 years were included in the study. Among them, 79.2% were in CKD G3, and the mean time since diagnosis of CKD was 86 ± 48 months. Approximately 62.5% were identified as non-frail. The mean of HL and CKDSC were 11.76 ± 4.10 and 62.12 ± 9.31. In multivariate linear regression analysis, age ≥ 65 years (odds ratio (OR) = 5.67, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.59-9.75), non-frailty (OR = 2.19, 95% CI 0.02-5.40), and high critical HL (OR = 1.43, 95% CI 0.13-2.90) showed significant positive correlation with CKDSC. Therefore, management of patients with CKD should focus on the young population, reinforcing health education strategies that improve critical HL and preventing frailty that may interfere with self-care. In addition, the patient's social support resources should be expanded to achieve the goal of CKDSC.

Objective: A technology-assisted teaching tool with interactive features may improve the outcomes of illegal drug-use prevention strategies. This study explores augmented reality (AR) and paper board games incorporating a brief antidrug educational program for students without drug-use problems to increase their antidrug knowledge, attitude, life skills, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and intention to avoid using drugs. Materials and Methods: A total of 600 students were recruited, and 578 completed the intervention program and pre-and post-tests. The participants were randomly assigned to one of the following three groups: AR board game, paper board games, and comparison groups. The brief educational program consisted of two sessions. Generalized estimation equations were used to assess group differences in outcome variables. The paired t-tests were used to assess improvements in outcome variables of the two experimental groups. Results: The study found that the students who received the brief educational program featuring the AR board game was significantly different from the comparison group in outcome variables, including antidrug knowledge (P = 0.001), life skills (P = 0.004), subjective norms (P < 0.001), perceived behavioral control (P < 0.001), and intention (P = 0.02). The group with the paper board games also revealed similar findings as to the AR board game group in outcome variables, except for antidrug knowledge. There were no group differences in antidrug attitude between experimental and comparison groups. Conclusion: The results of this study support the efficacy of the two types of board games incorporated with a brief educational program. Results suggest that schools can adopt AR or paper board games as learning tools to assist in drug-use prevention programs and reduce the likelihood of students using illegal drugs.

Liquid biopsy test has a better uptake for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. However, suboptimal detection of early-staged colorectal neoplasia (CRN) limits its application. Here, we established an early-staged CRN blood test using error-corrected sequencing by comparing clonal hematopoiesis (CH) of 63 CRN patients and that of 32 controls. We identified 1,446 variants and classified the uniqueness in CRN patients. There was no significance difference in the amount of variant between CRNs and controls, but the uniqueness of variants with defective DNA mismatch repair-related mutational signature was addressed from peripheral blood in early-staged CRN patients. By machine learning approach, the early-staged CRNs was discriminated from controls with an AUC of 0.959 and an accuracy of 0.937 (95% CI, 0.863 to 0.968). The CRN predictive model was further validated by additional 20 CRNs and 10 controls and showed the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive prediction value (PPV) and negative prediction value (NPV) of 0.933 (95% CI: 0.779 to 0.992), 0.95, 0.90, 0.95 and 0.90, respectively. In summary, we develop a CH-based liquid biopsy test with machine learning approach, which not only increase screening uptake but also improve the detection rate of early-staged CRN.
