RESUMO
Collagen's unique properties promise hemostatic potential, but its sponge form's stability and mechanics need improvement. In this study, we developed a series of homeostatic sponges by co-assembling collagen and curdlan at different ratios into hydrogels, followed by freeze-drying treatment. The incorporation of curdlan into collagen sponges has been found to significantly enhance the sponge's properties, including increased porosity, elevated water uptake, improved elasticity, and enhanced resistance to degradation. In vitro cytotoxicity and hemolysis assays have demonstrated the biocompatibility and nontoxicity of composite sponges. In mouse liver perforation and incision models, the composite sponges achieved rapid coagulation within 67 s and 75 s, respectively, outperforming gauze and gelatin sponge in reducing blood loss. Furthermore, composite sponges demonstrated superior wound healing potential in mice full-thickness skin defects model, with accelerated healing rates observed at days 3, 7, and 14 compared to the control group. Overall, collagen/curdlan composite sponge show promise for hemostasis and wound healing applications.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae is a sexually transmitted pathogen highly prevalent worldwide with an increasing trend of resistance to antimicrobial treatment. We conducted this study to trace the susceptibility of N. gonorrhoeae to penicillin (PC), spectinomycin (SPCM), ciprofloxacin (CPFX), azithromycin (AZM), cefixime (CFIX), and ceftriaxone (CTRX) in Guangxi province. In total, 303 N. gonorrhoeae isolates were obtained from patients infected with N. gonorrhoeae in 6 cities in Guangxi during 2013-2015, and the antibiotic susceptibility patterns were analyzed by an agar dilution assay. The results showed that N. gonorrhoeae was susceptible to treatment with cephalosporins, including CTRX (99.7% of isolates), CFIX (99%), SPCM (100%), and AZM (96.4%), and this is the first report of antibiotic susceptibility for AZM surveillance of N. gonorrhoeae in Guangxi. Penicillinase-producing N. gonorrhoeae (PPNG) isolates increased in prevalence from 37% in 2013 to 64% in 2015 (P = 0.068), and tetracycline-resistant N. gonorrhoeae (TRNG) prevalence increased from 23% in 2013 to 44% in 2015 (P = 0.071). High resistance of N. gonorrhoeae to PC was associated with infection in patients at ages 25 to 30 years (P ï¼ 0.05), whereas PPNG positivity (P ï¼ 0.01), and TRNG positivity were risk factors for CPFX resistance (P = 0.0407). Our study provides plausible evidence for therapeutic strategies and N. gonorrhoeae infection control and prevention in Guangxi, China.

All versions of this article have been corrected.] We conduct a theory-driven empirical investigation on whether political behavior, as a coping strategy to perceived organizational politics, creates resource trade-offs in moderating the relationship between perceived organizational politics and task performance. Drawing on conservation of resources theory, we hypothesize that political behavior mitigates the adverse effect of perceived organizational politics on task performance via psychological empowerment, yet exacerbates its adverse effect on task performance via emotional exhaustion. Three-wave multisource data from a sample of 222 employees and their 75 supervisors were collected for hypothesis testing. Findings supported our hypotheses. Our study enhances understandings of the complex resource dynamics of using political behavior to cope with perceived organizational politics and highlights the need to move stress-coping research from a focus on the stress-buffering effect of coping on outcomes to a focus on the underlying competing resource dynamics.
