RESUMO

We report a single-beam synthetic gradiometer operated in the spin-exchange-relaxation free (SERF) regime, using the structure of two separate atomic vapor cells spaced 2 cm apart. To improve the capability of the gradiometer in suppressing the common-mode magnetic field noise, we are aiming at investigating the effects of the system parameters on the gradiometer common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR). The mathematical expression for the relationship between the gradiometer CMRR and the two variables including the linewidth ratio and the pumping factor ratio is constructed for the first time, to our knowledge. This means that the CMRR can be optimized by controlling the linewidth and the pumping factor, which is easy to implement in the operation process. As a result, a CMRR of 246 is achieved and a gradiometer sensitivity of 4.5 fT/cm/Hz1/2 is also measured. This method provides a theoretical and experimental basis for the automated operation of gradiometers, and the gradiometer system performance can be tuned to a desired state by simply controlling the linewidth and the incident light intensity.

Electrical cables, often referred to as 'blood vessels' and 'nerves' of the industry, play a vital role in the connection of electrical devices. However, traditional cables that lack distributed filtering functions are usually the primary coupling path for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems. An innovative design for a filtering cable, which incorporates insulated electrical wires coated with a specific defected conductor layer (DCL), enables it to achieve distributed filtering advantages along its axis. Microwave network analysis is employed to build the two-port network model of filtering cable, which efficiently analyzes the cascading characteristics of periodic or aperiodic filtering cables. To validate, the flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) with sawtooth dumbbell-shaped DCL and mounted by capacitors is wrapped around the stripped section of the coaxial cable to manufacture a multi-stopband filtering cable. Simulated and measured results demonstrate that the proposed filtering cable can be effectively suppressed in the stopband, which can be adjusted by changing the values of capacitors.

PURPOSE: To explore the diagnostic performance of renal cortical elasticity expressed by Young's modulus (YM) using the supersonic shear wave imaging (SSI) technique in pediatric glomerular disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Seventy-one children with glomerular disease confirmed by renal biopsy and sixty healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study. Conventional and SSI ultrasound examinations were performed in all individuals for both kidneys. We measured renal length, renal width, renal thickness, parenchyma thickness, interlobar arterial resistive index (RI) and the YM of the middle and lower pole. RESULTS: Regardless of which pole and which side of the kidney, the YM in the disease group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.001). The YM of the middle pole in the left kidney demonstrated the largest AUC (0.936, P < 0.001), and the corresponding cut-off value was 15.48 kPa with a sensitivity of 87.3% and a specificity of 86.7%. There was no significant difference in the YM among different pathological types of pediatric glomerular disease in the disease group, and the same in different grades of patients with Immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy by Lee classification and the Oxford Classification as well as Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis (HSPN) by International Study of Kidney Disease in Children (ISKDC) classification (P > 0.05). We found positive but weak correlations between the YM and renal length (r = 0.299, P = 0.001), renal width (r = 0.408, P < 0.001), renal thickness (r = 0.299, P = 0.001), and parenchyma thickness (r = 0.212, P = 0.015), whereas the YM had no significant correlations with age, sex, BMI, interlobar arterial RI, and laboratory findings (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: SSI technology is a non-invasive and feasible method for the diagnosis of pediatric glomerular disease. However, SSI did not show good performance in distinguishing different pathological types and disease grades in our study.

Objectives: The objectives of this study were to assess the changes in the left myocardial function after chemotherapy for childhood lymphoma and observe the predictive or monitor value for cancer treatment-related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD) by speckle-tracking echocardiography. Methods: A total of 23 children with histopathological diagnoses of lymphoma were included, with age-matched normal controls. Comparative analysis of clinical serological tests and left heart strain parameters in children with lymphoma, including left ventricular global longitudinal strain (LVGLS); global myocardial work (GMW) indices, which include global work index (GWI), global constructive work (GCW), global wasted work, and global work efficiency; and the LS of subendocardial, middle, and subepicardial layer myocardium during left ventricular systole were measured: left atrial strain of reservoir phase (LASr), left atrial strain of conduit phase (LAScd), and left atrial strain of contraction phase (LASct). Results: One-way ANOVA showed that GLS, GWI, GCW, LASr, and LAScd were closely associated with CTRCD and multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that GLS was the most sensitive predictor for detecting patients at lofty risk of anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity. Both before and after chemotherapy, GLS in the left ventricle showed a pattern of basal segment < middle segment < apical segment and subepicardial < middle < subendocardial layer (p < 0.05), and the degree of decrease also showed a regular pattern of epicardial layer < middle layer < subendocardial layer while the difference was not significant (p > 0.05). After chemotherapy, maximum flow rate in early mitral relaxation/left atrial systolic maximum flow rate (E/A) and left atrial volume index of each group were in the normal range, and the values of LASr, LAScd, and LASct slightly increased in the second cycle and decreased significantly in the fourth cycle after chemotherapy, reaching the lowest level; LASr and LAScd were positively correlated with GLS. Conclusion: LVGLS is a more sensitive and earlier indicator to predict CTRCD compared with conventional echocardiography-related parameters and serological markers, and GLS of each myocardial layer showed a certain regularity. Left atrial strain can be used for early monitoring of cardiotoxicity in children with lymphoma after chemotherapy.
