RESUMO

Analysis of the fine structure of glandular-solid tumors of the ovaries of endometrioid and serous genesis was carried out for specification of criteria for differential diagnosis of these tumors. The specific ultrastructural features (homogeneous or heterogeneous cell composition, the presence or absence of villi, tonofibrilos, glycogen inclusions) were shown to be present in areas of formation of glandular structures. Diagnosis of solid variants of endometrioid and serous carcinomas should also take into consideration the rate of occurrence of such ultrastructural signs typical of malignant cells as deep invaginations of the nuclear membrane, extended perinuclear space, increased number of nucleoli and macrosegregation of their content, increased number of myelin figures, polymorphism of mitochondria, cut-up cellular surface, well-developed laminar complex, and hypertrophy of the cytoplasmic reticulum. In serous carcinomas these features occur much more frequently.

RESUMO

In "low cancer" CC57W mouse line studied over a period of 1944--1969 spontaneous leukemias occurred in 0.4--6.8%. During 1971--1976 the frequency of spontaneous leukemias amounted to 33%. Morbid anatomic and hematologic studies showed that aleukemic and subleukemic forms of chronic generalized reticulosarcomatosis with predominant affection of the lymphatic system accounted for the overwhelming majority of systemic diseases of the blood. Electron microscopy revealed virus-like type C particles in the cells of the affected organs.

RESUMO

During histochemical studies of sarcomas, induced in rats by skin implants of ethacryl plastic, fuchsinophil and argyrophil fibres were found as well as the deposits of chondroitin-4-and chondroitin-6-sulfate in the intercellular space of tumors. Electron microscopy enabled determination of collagen fibrilles and collagen fibre bundles even in low-differentiated neoplasms. Based on the histochemical and ultrastructural features in all these disc-induced tumors are referred to as fibrosarcomas.

RESUMO

Seven rhabdomyosarcomas of human soft tissues were studied electron microscopically. Certain ultrastructural features characteristic of tumour rhabdomyoblasts were revealed: atypical fibrillar apparatus, spatially uneven process of myofibrillogenesis, disturbed cyto- and histotypical differentiation ratio and others. These features may be used for electron microscopic diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcomas among soft tissue tumours of low differentiation.

RESUMO

Electron-microscopy examination of 13 soft tissue tumors in human subjects has revealed in four of them, diagnosed histologically as polymorphous-cellular sarcoma, fibrosarcoma, monophase and biphase synovioma, the ultrastructural features allowing them to be classified as rhabdomyosarcomas.

RESUMO

An electron microscope study was made of fibrillar structures in various types of cell elements in mice rhabdomyosarcoma. Different stages of myofibril development were followed in such differentiated cell elements as large spindle cells, large round cells and middle spindle cells. In the former two cells, the evolution has riched a stage of bundles of myofibrills with Z-like bands. The highest degree of myofibril maturation occurs in multinuclear myosymplasts. The occurrence of myofibrils being at different stages of evolution within the same cells is characteristic of tumor myoblasts in addition to an excentric unipolarity of cell differentiation and atypical structure of Z-brands. Cytotypical differentiation (myofibrillogenesis in uninuclear cells) may be the case only in those types of rhabdomyosarcoma cell elements which are able to undergo histottypical differentiation (fussion and formation of multinuclear myosymplasts).

RESUMO

As a result of exploration of the ultrastructure of 5 human rhabdomyosarcomas it was shown that, if present in the cytoplasm, cells of fibrillar bundles consisting of filaments of two types (40-60 A and 100-150 A) and regular aggregations of Z-like bands type present a reliable diagnostic sign of the myogenic origin of tumors. A possibility to determine such undifferentiated microfibrillae in electrone-microscopic study makes it rational to use the method as an adjunct in association with light optics to diagnose malignant soft tissue tumors of occult genesis.

RESUMO

The ultrastructure of different types of cell elements of rhabdomyosarcoma clones induced by 20-methylcholanthrene in mice CC57W is described. Along with general signs of a decreased differentiation typical for blastic cells of different histogenesis (rough endoplasmic reticulum, an abundance of free ribosomes, etc) some types of cell elements of myoblasts are characterized by specific features such as the character of anastomoses, fibrillary structures, etc. Morover, as a pathognomonic sign for tumorous myoblasts at the ultrastructural level could be only the presence of myofibrils with periodic aggragations like Z-bands in their cytoplasm. Since within one clone population both cells with and without myofibrils were encountered, the absence of the latter should not be considered to be a criterion for denying the myogenic nature of such cell elements.

RESUMO

An electron-microscopic study of lymph node cells in patients with lymphogranulomatosis has shown that the ultrastructure of these cells undergo some changes consisting in increased variability of the form and size of cellular organoids, and also being manifested in reticular cells to a greater degree than in lymphoid ones. A compparative study of cell ultrastructure at different stages of maturation and the analysis of literature data on ultrastructural changes in the process of differentiation of various cell types enabled to pinpoint further a conception of the morphological basis of differentiation at a subcellular level and to represent it schematically.
