RESUMO

Microflora from surgical infection foci of soft tissues was studied in 92 patients with local, 78 patients with spread and 10 patients with generalized forms of pyo-inflammatory processes. Increase of bacterial contamination of surgical infection foci, more frequent detection of gram-negative bacteria, associations of microorganisms, high antibiotics resistance and persistent characteristics of bacteria in spread and generalized forms of surgical infections were found. Increase of persistent potential of infective agents is significant for prolongation of the disease and generalization of infectious process.

RESUMO

The role of hypothalamic nonapeptides in the interaction of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells was studied in the experimental setting. Nonapeptides were found to stimulate the adaptive and regenerative properties of eukaryotic cells and they are likely to have an antimicrobic effect on prokaryotic ones. The paper discusses the modulating role of nonapeptides in the establishment of symbiotic relations in the bacterial agent-host system.

RESUMO

The suppressive action of oxytocin, heliumneon radiation and ultrahigh-frequency electromagnetic waves (UHF-therapy) on the persistence properties of S. aureus has been experimentally established. The effectiveness of the therapeutic actions under study in the treatment of patients with the prognosticated unfavorable course of purulent inflammatory diseases of soft tissues has been shown.

RESUMO

The anticarnosine activity has been found to be widely spread among bacteria, the degree of its manifestation depending on the source of isolation. The fact that anticarnosine activity plays a certain role in the phenomenon of persistence has been proved on the model of experimental staphylococcal infection in rats.

RESUMO

A new selective medium with fusidine for isolation of persistent staphylococci is developed and tried. The medium can be used for detecting the agent (staphylococcus) in mixed microflora in infectious diseases, in screenings for resident Staphylococcus carriership, in bioindication of air contamination, for predicting the course and for monitoring rational therapy of pyoinflammatory diseases in humans and animals in medicine and veterinary.

RESUMO

Virulent and persistent characteristics of staphylococci isolated from 100 patients with various types of course of the abscessed forms of postinjection suppuration were defined. Comparative analysis of 11 biological characteristics of the microorganisms was carried out. An important role of the complex of properties of Staphylococcus aureus was established, including lysozyme, proteolytic, fibrinolytic activities, ability for inactivation of immunoglobulins through their Fc-receptors' binding to protein A, antilysozyme, "antiinterferon", anticomplement activities in determination of protracted character of festering and inframmatory process initiated by them. The model for prognosis of the course of postinjection abscesses was developed with the help of discriminant analysis, being based on the analysis of the informative properties of the pathogen.

RESUMO

The role of Staphylococcus aureus persistence factors as the most informative signs of bacteria in the determination of the specific features of purulent inflammatory diseases has been established. The model for the prognostication of the character of the course of the purulent inflammatory process, induced by staphylococci, with due regard to the complex of their persistence factors has been created.

RESUMO

The study of the relationship of biological characteristics of staphylococci initiating the inflammation with features of clinical course of maxillary sinusitis has found that staphylococci with virulent characteristics determine acute course of the disease whereas the strains with persistent properties cause chronic course of maxillary sinusitis. Clinical isolates from the purulent discharge and the strains vegetating on the mucosa of the anterior part of the nose appeared identical.

RESUMO

The frequency of the residual staphylococcal carriage among the children who live in rural area having different levels and patterns of environmental pollution is estimated. A relationship is found between the frequency of the residual staphylococcal carriage and the rate of technogenic pollution of the ambient air. The findings suggest that the staphylococcal carriage among children may be used as an index of the unfavorable environment.

RESUMO

The species composition of microflora was determined and the etiological role of S. epidermidis was shown in some purulent inflammatory diseases (maxillary sinusitis, urethritis). The role of the complex of S. epidermidis persistence factors in the chronization of the infectious process and the formation of the resident carrier state was established.

RESUMO

The comparative analysis of 16 biological characteristics of staphylococci isolated from specially selected groups of persons with different types of carrier state has been made. Five signs (antilysozyme, anti-interferon and anticomplementary activities, sensitivity to fusidin, microbial contamination) forming the main informative combination have been determined. The diagnostic model of the differentiation of resident and transitory staphylococcal microflora in carrier state has been developed.

RESUMO

The informative character of staphylococcal persistence factors (antilysozyme and "anti-interferon" signs) as the indices of resident staphylococcal carrier state in the microecological monitoring of the aerial environment was determined. In areas, ecologically unfavorable with respect to the occurrence of diseases of respiratory organs and to the level of air pollution, staphylococcal strains with persistence factors were isolated from children 3 times as often as in areas with low levels of morbidity in respiratory diseases and environmental pollution. The background level resident staphylococcal carrier state was determined (8.1%), permitting the evaluation of the ecological loading and the mapping of the monitored territories.

RESUMO

The complex study of factors of persistence, virulence and antagonism in 473 coagulase-positive (CP) staphylococci and 489 coagulase-negative (CN) staphylococci inhabiting the nasal mucosa of resident and transitory carriers, and not carriers of CP staphylococci, was made. In the selection of virulent strains of CP staphylococci the factor of anti-interferon activity seemed to be of greater importance than the factor of antilysozyme activity, but the latter was preferable in the selection of virulent strains of CN staphylococci. Biovars of CP staphylococci with a set of factors of persistence, virulence and antagonism were isolated from resident carriers 1.6-3.1 times more frequently than from transitory ones. The selection of virulent biovars could be made among strains of CN staphylococci with pronounced persistent properties, isolated from subjects carrying no CP staphylococci.
