RESUMO

The results of autopsy of 184 patients, who died in diffuse peritonitis, are analysed. The impaired leakproof state of the hollow abdominal organs was the most common cause of postoperative peritonitis. Eighty four relaparotomies were performed for peritonitis. In 7 patients, the programmed peritoneal lavage was used. For temporary closure of the abdomen, the polyurethane film was used. In all the patients, the signs of peritonitis were liquidated. Two patients died.

RESUMO

This paper describes a study of the occurrence of T. mentagrophytes var. gran (ringworm) infection in small mammals living in nature and the possibility of the transmission of the aetiological agent from the natural focus of infection to man. The epizootological importance of small mammals is considered from the point of view of their ecological valency, an essential factor in the process of inter-species spread of infection. The concentration of small mammals during winter months in the proximity of human dwellings is due to their search for food and shelter. The barns--the main work place of agricultural workers in winter--were found to contain the highest concentration of small mammals, of the most diverse species and biotopes. They are considered to be the main link in the process of transmission of T. mentagrophytes infection from natural foci to man.

RESUMO

The influence of depth and humus content of soil, on the presence of keratinophilic fungi in 4 layers (1-10 cm, 11-25 cm, 26-40 cm, 41-55 cm) of carbonate meadow, chernozem carbonate meadow and carbonate alluvial soils was studied. Different keratinophilic fungi were found not only in individual soils but also in different layers of the same soil. The greatest number and quantity occurred in soil with highest humus content. These fungi were present in greatest amount in the superficial layers (1-10 cm and 11-25 cm) of all soils investigated.

RESUMO

The occurrence of T. mentagrophytes var. gran. infection of small mammals in their natural habitat was studied. The most common host of the exoanthropic mammals was Clethrionomys glareolus (bank vole); the next most common hosts were hemisynanthropes Sorex araneus (common shrew) and eusynathropes Mus musculus (common mouse). Occurrence of infection increased during the winter months. Because small mammals gather in farm outbuilding during cold weather, man is more likely to be exposed to infection from them during this time. Infection from T. mentagrophytes var. gan. is more likely to occur among agricultural workers than among others. The type of work influences the location of skin infection.
