RESUMO

A study was made of the binding of 125I-triiodothyronine with the sections, nuclei and mitochondria of the euthyroid thyroid under the conditions of adding adrenergic agents, cooling to 0 degree C and freezing to--196 degrees C. It was noted that 125I-T3 got no less with adding unlabeled T3 and thyroxine that might suggest the unsaturated nature of the process. Among the studied adrenergic agents (noradrenaline, neoepinephrine, propranolol, pyrroxane in the concentration of 1 X 10(-4) M) noradrenaline only influenced this process. It stimulated binding and pyrroxane inhibited it. 125I-T3 binding got less at 0 degree C, after freezing to--196 degrees C the preservation of the basal activity of the process and disappearance of the noradrenaline stimulating effect were noted. The results obtained do not confirm assumptions as to the mechanism of thyroid autoregulation function with T3 by the short feedback type.

RESUMO

To treat postoperative hypothyrosis, use was made of implantation of autologous thyroid tissue preserved and stored for 4 to 12 months before patients developed hypothyrosis. It was established that the treatment was followed by an increase in 131I accumulation in the body at the expense of its accumulation by the implant and stimulation of the process in the stump. This was paralleled by a considerable rise in T3 and T4 and reduction in TTH in the patients' blood. The patients substantially improved while the manifestations of hypothyrosis disappeared. The effects detected could be seen throughout the whole observation period (up to 18 months). The patients did not require any additional drug treatment. The data provided attest to the efficacy of autoimplantation of cryopreserved thyroid parenchyma for the treatment of postoperative hypothyrosis.

RESUMO

The paper deals with capacity of tissues of the bull and rat auricle and of the rat deferent duct for trapping L-[3H] noradrenaline and [3H] adrenaline under different conditions of cooling. It is established that at the preliminary incubation temperature of 20 degrees C the intensity of tissues trapping both the hormone and mediator is essentially decreased and [3H] noradrenaline does not inhibit the adrenaline trapping. When the bull auricle tissue is cooled down to 4 and 0 degrees C its capacity for the [3H]-noradrenaline trapping is restored. The rat deferent duct tissue recover its capacity to the [3H] adrenaline trapping after cooling down to 0 degrees C. Freezing down to -20 and 196 degrees C has a pronounced inhibitory effect on the [3H] adrenaline and [3H] noradrenaline trapping by all the tissues under study. Possible thermodependence mechanisms of the adrenergic mediator-hormones trapping are explained.

RESUMO

In cold-unadapted H. molitrix, studies have been made on the electrical activity of the heart during cooling from 28 to 0 degrees. Cooling of the fish results in the increase of the duration of all ECG components and the decrease in their amplitude. The spontaneous activity gradually disappears, first in sino-atrium zone, then in atrium-ventricular one. Sinus rhythm disappeared at the abdominal temperature 3 degrees. The decrease in the heart rate was followed by its complete block without any extrasystoles and fibrillation. Warming of the fish up to the initial temperature (28 degrees) resulted in the recovery of cardiac activity, first in the atrium-ventricular zone, then in sino-atrium one.

RESUMO

The function of the thyroid gland transplanted after being frozen to --196 degrees C was studied in experiments on rats. The gland was transplanted to thyroidectomized animals. Glands frozen without the use of cryoprotective agents and also in the presence of a cryoprotector--polyethyleneoxide with a mol. wt. of 400 (PEO-400) were used. Besides, a study was made of the effect of different rates of chilling on the thyroid gland. In assessment of the gland function a determination was made of tissue respiration, of I-131 consumption, and blood thyroid hormone content. To assess the cryoprotective effect of PEO-400 and for the choice of its optimal concentration the NMR method and roentgenostructural analysis werea applied. The thyroid gland proved to take and to retain its capacity to hormone formation after its freezing to the temperature of --196 degrees C according to a special program in the presence of PEO-400.
