[Postoperative contamination of wounds April-September 1992]. / Ispitivanje postoperativnih kontaminacija rana u periodu april-septembar 1992. godine.

In this paper we have analyzed random sample of 108 nosocomial infections at a surgical services of Clinical Center of University and a State Hospital in Sarajevo during april-september of 1992. The overall rate of nosocomial infections of postoperative wound was 69.45%. Gram negative bacterias were more frequently isolated then gram positive bacteria. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was detected at 20.37% of all wound infections, E coli and Klebsiella Sp. with 12.96%, and Staphylococcus pyogenes with 12.03%. Without a continuous germ control of the hospital flora no calculated antibiotic is possible. Pseudomonas has emerged as an important nosocomial pathogen and this suggest that the epidemiology of nosocomial infections differs from epidemics infections.

[Fractures of the lower leg treated with the Ilizarov method]. / Prelomi podkoljenice lijeceni metodom Ilizarov.

We had 32 patients with leg's fractures treated by Ilizarov method. These of fractures were multifragmentar, unstabily and open fractures with Decolman of soft tissue. Four cases were without damage of skin. 28 patients were with damage of skin. 21 patients had plastic-surgical treatment. Fractures were treated bz Ilizarov method with four of two rings. Treatment were finished in all cases during of period of 6 months to 10 months. Age of these patients were between 30 to 85 years.

[Pseudarthrosis of the tibia treated by the Ilizarov method]. / Pseudoartroze podkoljenice tretirane metodom Ilizarov.

21 (50%) patients suffering on pseudoarthrosis tibia were treated by ilizarov method, from total of 42 discussed in the paper. The ilizarov method in combination with Judet method was used with 21 patients (50.0%) suffering on pseudoarthrosis tibia. Plastic procedures were performed with 12 (28.6%) covering the skin and soft tissues defects, while 10 (23.8) by myocutal lobes. The non-infectious hypertrophic pseudoarthrosis cases were treated only by ilizarov method 14 (33.3%), while the atrophic ones (39.1%) by ilizarov Judet and spondioplastics. Prior infected contact pseudoarthrosis was performed with 9 (64.3%), 6 (66.6%) only by the ilizarov method, while 3 (33.3%) by ilizarov, Judet and spongioplastics were performed with 3 cases (60.0%), while 2 (40.0%) lifting graft. Healing cases (92.9%), but we did not with 3 cases (7.1%). An average time of treatment was three weeks and joints rehabilitation lasted 7 weeks.

[Large defects of the bones and soft tissues treated with the Ilizarov method]. / Veliki defekti kosti i mekih tkiva tretiranih metodom Ilizarova.

We presented 15 cases with the defects and shortening of the lower leg. In 14 cases the defect of the bone and soft tissues was the result of the lower injury, in one case shortening was due to the dysplastic bone tumor. The large defects of the soft tissues were present by all patients, so they could be classified in the Group "D" or Fourth Category of the open fractures All the cases were treated by the lifting graft and Ilizarov external fixator. Eleven of the fifteen cases were treated by the cutaneous and muscle-cutaneous flap for faster and better cover of the soft tissue defect.
