RESUMO

This study focuses on the teleworking experiences of professional, middle-class, married women with children in Turkey in the context of Covid-19 pandemic. The aim of the study is to understand how switching to telework affected their family and work life during the Covid-19 lockdown. Semi-structured interviews were held during the lockdown measures with 18 women for this purpose. Interview questions include description of an ordinary day before and during pandemic; sharing of domestic chores by the spouses and teleworking experiences during the pandemic. A thematic analysis revealed how their work and family lives have been changed by Covid-19 lockdown. The study has revealed four major themes: women's domestic status during the pandemic, women's work status during the pandemic, status of the husband at home, and women's teleworking experiences. Findings revealed that teleworking regulations that have been implemented due to the pandemic have the risks of detaching women from professional work, precarizing their labor, and consolidating their roles as traditional housewives.

RESUMO

The presence of heavy metals in environmental waters having an important place in the industrial waste is a major threat to viability. Heavy metals are transported to humans through the ecological cycle, damaging many tissues and organs. In recent years, agricultural and food waste can be used to remove heavy metals. At the present study, magnetically modified coffee grains which are alternative to conventional particle systems were prepared and heavy metal removal performances were investigated. The coffee grains used were magnetically modified by contact with water-based magnetic fluid. Magnetically modified coffee grains were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis and electron spin resonance (ESR). Adsorption studies are made with four different heavy metal ions, namely Cu(II), Pb(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II). Adsorption isotherms were determined and heavy metal removal performance of magnetic coffee grains were investigated from synthetic waste water.

RESUMO

The main aim of this research is to develop a profile of a thief. Through a comprehensive survey of property crime suspects arrested in the city of Ankara between 2004 and 2005, the authors have attempted to determine the socioeconomic qualities of those involved in these forms of property crimes. Results of the study show that property crimes are a consequence of low education, lack of occupational skills, and alcohol and drug addiction on the part of the offenders. Because of these factors, theft becomes a way of life for offenders after their first act of property crime.
