Background: Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent gynecological inflammatory condition that may lead to infertility and recurrent pelvic pain. The purpose of this research was to determine the efficacy and safety of Salvia miltiorrhiza-containing Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) combined with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) for postoperative endometriosis management. Methods:Eight databases were systematically searched before October 2021, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web of Sceince, CNKI, VIP, and Wanfang. Finally, all randomized controlled studies comparing Salvia miltiorrhiza-containing CHM paired with GnRH-a to GnRH-a alone for postoperative endometriosis management were included. Results: A total of 10 trials involving 836 patients were reported and analyzed. Compared with the control group, the Salvia miltiorrhiza-containing CHM combined with GnRH-a group showed significant superiority in decreasing endometriosis recurrence (risk ratio [RR] = 0.26; 95% confidence intervals [CI]: 0.16-0.41) and increasing the pregnancy rate ([RR] = 1.96; 95% CI: 1.58-2.44). Similarly, the effect of the Salvia miltiorrhiza-containing CHM combined with GnRH-a on CA-125 serum levels was positive (standardized mean difference [SMD] = -0.79; 95% CI: -1.11 to -0.47). Furthermore, this group showed a significant reduction in adverse effects. Conclusion: The results indicate that Salvia miltiorrhiza-containing CHM may be a viable choice for postoperative endometriosis therapy, with the potential to enhance pregnancy while decreasing recurrence and adverse effects.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a condition associated with the onset of abnormal glucose tolerance during pregnancy. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), microRNAs (miRNAs), and genes can form lncRNA-mediated feedforward loops (lnc-FFLs), which are functional network motifs that regulate a wide range of biological processes and diseases. However, lnc-FFL network motifs have not been systematically investigated in GDM, and their role in the disease remains largely unknown. In the present study, a global lnc-FFL network was constructed and analyzed. Glycometabolism- and hormone-related lnc-FFL networks were extracted from the global network. An integrated algorithm was designed to identify dysregulated glycometabolism- and hormone-related lnc-FFLs in GDM. The patterns of dysregulated lnc-FFLs in GDM were complex. Moreover, there were strong associations between dysregulated glycometabolism- and hormone-related lnc-FFLs in GDM. Core modules were extracted from the dysregulated lnc-FFL networks in GDM and showed specific and essential functions. In addition, dysregulated lnc-FFLs could combine with ceRNAs and form more complex modules, which could play novel roles in GDM. Notably, we discovered that the dysregulated lnc-FFLs were enriched in the thyroid hormone signaling pathway. Some drug-repurposing candidates, such as hormonal drugs, could be identified based on lnc-FFLs in GDM. In summary, the present study highlighted the effect of dysregulated glycometabolism- and hormone-related lnc-FFLs in GDM and revealed their potential for the discovery of novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for GDM.

The determination of imidacloprid with DNA via a resonance light scattering (RLS) technique was developed. The RLS of DNA was remarkably quenched after adding imidacloprid in aqueous medium of pH 2.10. An RLS peak at 311 nm was found, and the quenched intensity of RLS at this wavelength was proportional to the concentration of imidacloprid. The linear range of the calibration curve was approximately 0.02-2 microg/mL with the detection limit (S/N = 3) of 0.02 ng/mL. The imidacloprid in river water, cucumbers, and apple samples was determined. The recovery rates were in the range of 91.9% to 95.20%, 97.2% to 111.3%, and 94.5% to 114.8%, respectively. The mechanism of the reaction between imidacloprid and DNA is also discussed.
