RESUMO

The paper presents the study on the effect of the industrial xenobiotics against some biochemical indicators, in view to detect, precociously, the probable significant changes. There are presented the medium, minimum, maximum and median value for the following parameters: total proteins, haemoglobin and glucose for 112 workers exposed or not exposed to specific noxae--benzen, phenol, cyclohexanone. The analysis of the results shows decreased values for some workers, even at the inferior limit, in rapport with the normal values, for the parameters studied. These persons have been directed for complex investigations, in view to determine the causes and to establish the adequate treatment.

RESUMO

The first Saint-Spiridon hospital was built in 1757. A pharmacy, managed by Andonie Feierman, was opened in 1765. After his death, foreign pharmacists succeeded one another until 1827, when was mentioned the first rumanian pharmacist, Ioan Padure. Teofil Stenner (1855-1890) held also the laboratory of chemistry and toxicology of Iasi. At the end of the XIXth century a new building was built, but it was destroyed during world war II.

RESUMO

The free radicals resulting from the metabolism of oxygen and some xenobiotics, can induce, when a limit concentration is exceeded, toxic effects due to their action on DNA, enzymes and fatty acids. Therefore, the association of oxygen therapy with drug administration may have a more or less beneficial effect. Thus, in a long-term treatment with drugs which by metabolized release free radicals, the use of exogenous compounds for protecting the human body need to be administered.

RESUMO

The results of a populational study on detecting some early changes in the activity of gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase and alkaline phosphatase under the influence of industrial noxae in synthetic fibers plants are presented. At the same time thiocyanaturia, as an indicator of cian ion detoxication as well as of the noxious effect of smoking, was determined. The individual results showed only significant alterations in the activity of gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase, reason for which the respective individuals were referred to specialized medical institutions for complex laboratory and clinical investigations. On this occasion some alcohol addicts were also detected. The increased thiocyanaturia levels are explained only by tobacco smoking, as the professional noxae were always under the admitted limit.

RESUMO

The inevitable chemical risks present in a synthetic threads and fibres aggregate works determine a careful and permanent surveillance of employees' state of health, especially where the occupational risk is known to exist. Besides the usual labour protection measures, screening for the early detection of some biochemical or biotoxicological changes induced by the contact with the chemical noxae in the labour environment are performed. This paper presents the results of a complex biochemical and biotoxicological screening including about 300 employees working at the polyplants in the melanin section where the major chemical noxa is acrylonitrile. The total proteins, hemoglobin, methemoglobin and cholinesterase activity were determined.
