Acute abdominal pain due to internal herniation of the sigmoid colon, fallopian tube and left ovary, a rare presentation of Allen Masters syndrome.

In 1955, Allen and Masters describe a painful syndrome which associates traumatic delivery to laceration found on the posterior leaf of the broad ligament. Herniation through this defect is a rare entity, accounted for about 4-7% of all internal hernias. Normally, it involves the small bowel. The authors present the case of a multiparous woman admitted at emergency for constipation and abdominal pain. The CT scan showed an extremely rare case of internal hernia of the sigmoid colon, fallopian tube and left ovary through a large defect of the broad ligament. The patient underwent a full laparoscopic surgery that allowed the reduction of the hernia and the suture of the defect with very good outcome.

Screening in early pregnancy of some potential diseases has led to the improvement of the health of mothers and newborns. Recommended tests vary from one country to another. We presented the screening recommendations of screening proposed in the " Guide de Consultation Prénatale" (published in 2009) by the GGOLFB and ONE and put it in perspective with the recommendations of the KCE, the NICE of England, the HAS of France and the RANZCOG of Australia and New Zealand. It appears that at the first antenatal visit for pregnant women without particular risk factor, a full blood examination, serological screening for rubella, cytomegalovirus, toxoplasmosis, HIV, HBV the HCV and syphilis as well as an evaluation of the thyroid function are recommended screening tests. Finally, depending on the chosen strategy for gestational diabetes screening, a fasting glycemia might be proposed. As these recommendations are mainly based on studies of low level of evidence, future studies could change the currently proposed screening strategies.

Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix. A rare tumour of the right iliac fossa.

A case of mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix is presented. The clinical feature is a painful syndrome of the right iliac fossa. In our observation, the diagnosis was not allowed by preoperative imaging. Appendectomy was initially performed and completed by right hemicolectomy and lymphadenectomy after histological diagnosis of the appendicular malignant tumour was forwarded. The prognosis of this tumour is generally excellent providing early diagnosis and wide enough surgery.
