RESUMO

Single metastases of the brain treated from January 1989 do December 1992 at the Neurosurgical Clinic in Sarajevo have been presented. Our approach and selection of patients have also been showed. We have compared our work with current neurosurgical treatment of metastases of the brain. The lung have been the source of the single brain metastases in 67%. Anaplastic carcinoma have been the most common pathohistological diagnosis. Metastases have been found in the cerebrum in 80% cases. Percent of the males patients have been 67%. The most frequently, patients have been ages 40-59. The single brain metastases with good general condition of the patient have been operative treatment indication. Operative mortality have been 12%. All patients have been treated by radiotherapy after operating. Contrast-enhanced CT of the brain have used to make preoperative diagnosis.

RESUMO

A series of 129 cases of spontaneous intracerebral hematomas of ganglio-basal and thalamic localization was studied. Out of the number, twenty were thalamic hematomas. Only hematomas of hypertensive and unknown etiology were analysed. In all patients included in the study, the diagnosis was established using clinical methods and confirmed using radiological methods. Thalamic hemorrhages were treated conservatively, while those of ganglio-basal localization were treated both conservatively and surgically, depending on localization and initial clinical picture. The results of the treatment and quality of life in survivors were directly dependent upon the clinical and radiological parameters.

RESUMO

In a five year period we have treated surgically eight patients with TOS in the Neurosurgical Clinic Sarajevo. We have concluded that there is not specific diagnostic procedure for the verification of TOS and as surgical method of choice we suggest supraclavicular scalenectomy with neurolysis of plexus brachialis and resection of cervical rib, if exists.

RESUMO

Chronic subdural hematoma is a disease with relatively good outcome when treated fairly. Even than, we have sometimes complications in postoperative period. We propose surgical treatment with burr-hole and continued catheter drainage in closed system as the most optimal treatment and prevention of postoperative complications.

RESUMO

The authors report 91 cases of acute posttraumatic coma. The propose undertaking of promptly diagnostic, and consider that the most important is angiographic examination. Excluded the cases of clinical evident brain death of very dad generaly status of patient, they preopse prompt carotid angiography by every case of posttraumatic cerebral coma, in spite of eventual lack the neurological lateralisation. When they havenit time of possibility for angiographic examination, they undertook the diagnostic bur-hole. Early intracranial and intracerebral decompression in the first six hours is, if indication for operation is good line, nowadays unique method for treatment these patients in contemporary neurotraumatology.
