[Chloroquine--therapy of atopic dermatitis]. / Chloroquin--Therapie der atopischen Dermatitis.

In 1984 and 1985, 62 patients suffering from atopic dermatitis were systemically treated with chloroquine for 3 to 6 months. In 46 of the patients, the therapy resulted in significant improvement, so that all systemic or topical treatment with glucocorticoids could be discontinued. 8 patients revealed moderate improvement, which did not allow the discontinuation of topical glucocorticoids. 6 patients showed adverse reactions, which forced us to stop therapy with chloroquine. 2 patients broke off therapy because of side effects.

[Eccrine porocarcinoma (malignant eccrine poroma)--a follow-up study]. / Ekkrines Porokarzinom (malignes ekkrines Porom)--eine Verlaufsbeobachtung.

We report on a 78-years-old man having suffered from malignant eccrine poroma since 1983. Two years after the first therapy, we proved lymph node and skin metastases which in spite of radiotherapy caused death in 1986.

[Studies of local treatment of psoriasis with a bifonazole-urea combination]. / Lokale Behandlungsstudien der Psoriasis mit einer Bifonazol-Harnstoff-Kombination.

In a biometrically controlled study on psoriatic patients, we investigated the efficacy and tolerability of bifonazole 1% plus urea 20% cream. In each of our ten patients, two lesions were treated over a period of 29 to 40 days (34 days on the average). Therapeutic results were not satisfying with lesions on extremities in comparison to those on head and body. On head and trunk, the size of the lesions amounted to 11.8 and 10.3 cm2, resp., before treatment, 2.8 and 4.3 cm2, resp., after therapy. On the extremities, we only noticed a reduction in size from 15.8 cm2 before to 13.8 cm2 after treatment. In total, the therapy was considered successful in 14 of the 20 lesions. Especially those four patients who predominantly showed lesions of the sebopsoriatic type were well-improved. Thus this therapy is particularly recommended in case of sebopsoriasis.

[Results of skin tests with pollen extracts of fruit trees in patients with pollen allergy]. / Hauttestergebnisse mit Obstblütenpollenextrakten bei Frühblüher-Pollinotikern.

As there have recently been increasing publications on the correlation between tree pollen allergy and fruit allergy, we asked ourselves wether this might be caused by the parallel pollen times of Fagales trees and Rosales trees in our Central European climate. Accordingly, we tested 92 patients positively suffering from Fagales tree pollen allergy with the following Rosales tree pollen extracts: apple, cherry, plum, apricote, almande. 16 out of these patients showed reactions to Fagales pollen but not to Rosales pollen. All the other 76 patients revealed reactions to both the tested pollen extracts. Since these results show our thesis to be false, we have to assume a related (minor) antigen of both tree pollen groups.

[Therapy of rosacea with bifonazole cream--practical experiences over a 2-year period]. / Rosaceatherapie mit Bifonazol-Creme--praktische Erfahrungen über 2-Jahre.

In our first comparative study from 1981/82 on the local therapy of rosacea with imidazole derivates (2) bifonazole cream showed the better results. Since this time we collected experiences with other 87 rosacea patients on this therapy and its variations. We divided these patients into three groups: a) rosacea teleangiektatica, b) rosacea papulopustulosa, c) rosacea ekzematosa. The therapeutical results with 0.1-0.5% bifonazole cream diluted in Ungt. emulsific. aquos., with the 1% bifonazole cream and with the combined bifonazole-metronidazole therapy are reported. Without several of the patients with rosacea ekzematosa we had moderate to excellent results with a long time intervall therapy.

[Therapy and etiology of sebopsoriasis]. / Zur Therapie und Atiologie der Sebopsoriasis.

9 patients suffering from psoriasis vulgaris associated with sebopsoriasis lesions as well as 21 patients showing sebopsoriasis only were treated with 1% bifonazole cream and gel. We found good and excellent results in 86% of the sebopsoriatic, but only in 40% of the psoriasis vulgaris lesions. These results were achieved independently of the galenic preparation. In some of the sebopsoriasis patients, typical lesions were brought about by intracutaneous injection of bacterial antigens like steptococcus viridans and staphylococcus albus; my be, this is a hint on the etiology.

Treatment of sebopsoriasis. A clinical trial--an etiological approach.

1% Bifonazole cream and gel were used for the local therapy of sebopsoriasis and psoriasis in a pilot study with 20 patients. 3 of the 9 patients with psoriasis and 9 of the 11 patients with sebopsoriasis had improved markedly. The mechanisms of the effectiveness of this therapy will be discussed together with the results of some provocation tests with bacterial antigens.

[Treatment of moderately severe virilism of women with Diane and Androcur 10]. / Die Behandlung mittelschwerer Virilisierungs-erscheinungen der Frau mit Diane und Androcur 10.

We report on 20 female patients suffering from acne, seborrhea, hirsutism, and androgenic alopecia during the years 1980-1982 who have been treated with 1 tablet of Androcur 10 (10 mg cyproteronacetate) daily, in the first 15 days applied together with Diane (0,05 mg ethinylestradiol and 2 mg cyproteronacetate). The results achieved after 2 years show an improvement of acne in 80 per cent of the cases, of seborrhea in 95 per cent, and of both hirsutism and androgenic alopecia in 45 per cent each. So this therapy takes its important place between the therapy with Diane alone and the usual supplementary dosis of 50 mg cyproteronacetate (Androcur) daily.

[Local treatment of rosacea with imidazole derivatives]. / Externtherapie der Rosacea mit Imidazolderivaten.

Reports about a good effectiveness of systemic therapy of papular rosacea with metronidazole stimulated us to investigate the value of a local treatment 1) with metronidazole mixed in Ungt. emulsific. aquosum, 2) some other available imidazole-derivative-cremes, 3) a new agent bifonazole. The last substance had a better effectiveness than the others, but the results with all these preparations were well enough to recommend them even in lower concentrations for local treatment of papular rosacea.
