Two new species of genus Joruma McAtee (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Typhlocybinae) from Viçosa, Minas Gerais State, Brazil.

Joruma abernardesi sp.nov. and Joruma phrolfsi sp.nov. (Typhlocybinae: Jorumini) are described based on specimens from Mata do Paraíso, an Atlantic Forest reserve located at Viçosa municipality. This is the first record of the genus Joruma McAtee in Minas Gerais State, southeastern Brazil.

Two new species of Thraulodes Ulmer, 1920 (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae: Atalophlebiinae) from Southeast Brazil.

Two new species of Thraulodes Ulmer, 1920 are described from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, based on male and female imagos. Thraulodes luisae sp. nov. differs from all other species of the genus by the short and wide penes spines, turning up to apex; triangular shape of styliger plate with median projection abrupt and short with rounded apex; abdominal and legs color pattern; and presence of 2-3 weakly marked cross veins basal to bullae. Thraulodes pinga sp. nov. differs from all other species of the genus by the wide shape of styliger plate with median projection short with wide base and truncated apex; abdominal and legs color pattern; and presence of 1 weakly marked cross vein basal to bullae. 

A new species of Balera Young and redescription of Habralebra gillettei Young (Hemiptera, Cicadellidae, Typhlocybinae) from Viçosa, Minas Gerais State, Brazil.

Balera fiuzai sp. nov. is described based on male specimens obtained from light trap collections at Mata do Paraíso, Municipality of Viçosa, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. An identification key to the species of Balera is given. Additionally, Habralebra gillettei Young is redescribed from the same locality. These specimens of H. gillettei differ somewhat from previously described specimens, but are considered intra-specific variations. Both genera, Balera Young and Habralebra Young, are recorded from Minas Gerais State for the first time.

Thraulodes bonito sp. nov. (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae) from Rio de Janeiro State, Southeastern Brazil.

A new species of Thraulodes Ulmer, 1920 is described from Rio de Janeiro. The species resembles the recently published Thraulodespelicanus Mariano and Froehlich, 2011 (in Mariano et al. 2011) due to the length and width of the penes. However, Thraulodes bonito sp. nov. differs from this and all other species of the genus by the wide penes, the triangular shape of the styliger plate with median projection short and apex rounded, the abdominal color pattern and the presence of 1-3 weakly marked cross veins basal to bullae. The new species is described based on male imagos, female subimagos and nymphs.

Description of the nymph of Massartella alegrettae Ulmer, 1943 (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae: Atalophlebiinae) with a key to Massartella Lestage, 1930 nymphs.

The South American genus Massartella Lestage, 1930 is composed of five species. Massartella alegrettae Ulmer, 1943 is the only species with the nymph unknown. In this paper, we describe the nymph of M. alegrettae based on specimens from the state of São Paulo, Brazil. This is the first record of the species from southeastern Brazil. The nymph can be easily recognized by the gills present on segments I-V, with dark gray membrane and without apical processes.

Leptophlebiidae ocorrentes no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil: hábitats, meso-hábitats e hábitos das ninfas (Insecta: Ephemeroptera) / Leptophlebiidae from Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil: nymphal habitats, mesohabitats, and habits (Insecta: Ephemeroptera)

A família Leptophlebiidae é ainda pobremente conhecida no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, tanto em termos faunísticos quanto taxonômicos e biológicos. No presente trabalho foram reunidos dados biológicos acerca de 14 gêneros (Askola, Farrodes, Hagenulopsis, Hermanella, Hylister, Leentvaaria, Massartella, Miroculis, Needhamella, Perissophlebiodes, Thraulodes, Traverella e Ulmeritoides, além de um gênero ainda não descrito) e em torno de 25 morfoespécies ocorrentes no estado. Em termos ecológicos, a maioria dos gêneros e espécies dessa família está associada a ambientes lóticos ritrais, colonizando áreas de deposição de material orgânico alóctone.

The leptophlebiid mayflies from Rio de Janeiro State are still poorly known from faunistic, taxonomic and biological points of view. In this paper were compiled biological data about 14 genera (Askola, Farrodes, Hagenulopsis, Hermanella, Hylister, Leentvaaria, Massartella, Miroculis, Needhamella, Perissophlebiodes, Thraulodes, Traverella, Ulmeritoides, and an undescribed genus) and about 25 morphospecies from Rio de Janeiro. Most of the genera and species of this family are related to rithral habitats, occupying places with deposition of allochtonous organic matter.

Pukuakanga salignea, gênero novo e espécie nova de Dictyopharidae (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Fulgoromorpha) do Sudeste do Brasil / Pukuakanga salignea, a new genus and species of Dictyopharidae (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Fulgoromorpha) from Southeastern Brazil

Pukuakanga gen.nov. (Hemiptera: Dyctiopharidae) é erigido com base em exemplares adultos de uma espécie nova, Pukuakanga salignea sp.nov., provenientes de diferentes municípios do Estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. O gênero pode ser determinado por uma combinação de características como: cabeça com o comprimento 4,8× a largura da base; ápice da projeção da cabeça apresentando a união das carenas marginais da fronte e do vértice lateralmente a projeção; ausência de carena na tégula; margem anteromediana do pronoto reta; três fileiras de células na membrana da asa anterior; edeago com a conjuntiva bifurcada formando dois pares de tubos e o espinho do pênis apresentando um ramo lateral.

Pukuakanga gen. nov., a new genus of Dictyopharidae, is established based on adult specimens of a new species, Pukuakanga salignea sp.nov., from different municipalities of Minas Gerais State, Brazil. The genus can be determined by a characters combination like: head length 4.8× width of the base; apex of head projection showing the union of marginal carinae of the front and vertex laterally to projection; carina tegulae absence; anteromedian margin of pronotum straight, three rows of cells on membrane of fore wing; aedeagus with the conjunctiva bifurcated forming two pairs of tubes, and the thorn of the penis showing a lateral branch.

The species of mayflies (Ephemeroptera: Insecta) recorded from Brazil / As espécies de ephemeroptera (insecta) registradas para o Brasil

(As espécies de Ephemeroptera (Insecta) registradas para o Brasil). Uma lista da fauna de Ephemeroptera do Brasil, com todas as espécies, gêneros e famílias registrados para o país é apresentada, incluindo os estados para os quais as espécies estão reportadas assim como a bibliografia pertinente. Comentários acerca do estado atual do conhecimento da fauna brasileira também são tecidos. Até o presente momento 10 famílias, 63 gêneros e 166 espécies estão registrados. As famílias Baetidae e Leptophlebiidae compreendem mais de 50% de todos os registros, enquanto as regiões Norte e Sudeste são significativamente melhor estudadas que as demais.

(The species of mayflies (Ephemeroptera: Insecta) recorded from Brazil). A checklist of the Brazilian Ephemeroptera fauna with all species, genera and families recorded from the country, including the states for which every species is reported, and the pertinent reference is presented. Comments on the status of knowledge of the Brazilian mayfly fauna are also provided. Up to date, 10 families, 63 genera, and 166 species are recorded. Baetidae and Leptophlebiidae have more than 50% of all records, while the North and Southeastern regions are significantly better studied than the other areas of the country.

A new leafhopper species, Scaris angrensis sp.nov., is described and illustrated based on an adult male from Angra dos Reis, State of Rio de Janeiro, southeastern Brazil. The holotype is deposited in the entomological collection of Museu Nacional, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The new species seems to be more closely related to S. bahiensis because of its single ventral process on the aedeagal base, being distinguished from that by the apical shape of the stylus. A problem related to the illustrations in the original description of S. nessimiani and S. bahiensis is herein corrected.
