By primarily adjusting the reagent amounts, particularly the volume of AgNO3 solution introduced, Ag2O cubes with decreasing sizes from 440 to 79 nm, octahedra from 714 to 106 nm, and rhombic dodecahedra from 644 to 168 nm are synthesized. 733 nm cuboctahedra are also prepared for structural analysis. With in-house X-ray diffraction (XRD) peak calibration, shape-related peak shifts are recognizable. Synchrotron XRD measurements at 100 K reveal the presence of bulk and surface layer lattices. Bulk cell constants also deviate slightly. They show a negative thermal expansion behavior with shrinking cell constants at higher temperatures. The Ag2O crystals exhibit size- and facet-dependent optical properties. Bandgaps red-shift continuously with increasing particle sizes. Optical facet effect is also observable. Moreover, synchrotron XRD peaks of a mixture of Cu2O rhombicuboctahedra and edge- and corner-truncated cubes exposing all three crystal faces can be deconvoluted into three components with the bulk and the [111] microstrain phase as the major component. Interestingly, while the unheated Cu2O sample shows clear diffraction peak asymmetry, annealing the sample to 450 K yields nearly symmetric peaks even when returning the sample to room temperature, meaning even moderately high temperatures can permanently change the crystal lattice.

The multiple physical fields of hot mix asphalt (HMA) during the compaction process have a significant impact on the durability of asphalt pavement, and this research aimed to evaluate the synergistic effect of the HMA field compaction of multi-physical field evolution during the compaction process. First, the temperature field, structural layer thickness variation, and structural layer density variation were monitored during field compaction. Second, the evolution properties of compaction thickness were obtained under the synergistic influence of multi-physical fields by temperature field and compaction thickness. Finally, the evolution properties of compaction density were obtained under the synergistic influence of multi-physical fields based on the temperature field and structural layer density. The results showed that the field compaction process could be characterized by three stages under the synergistic impact of multi-physical fields. The cooling of the temperature field presents two-stage characteristics. There were cubic polynomial evolution properties for the temperature field versus time and the density versus temperature field. There was an exponential relationship between the thickness of the compacted layer and the number of mills. The aggregate particles showed different motion characteristics in the horizontal and vertical directions and vertical directions. The vertical displacement was larger than the horizontal displacement under the synergistic influence of multi-physical fields during the three stages of compaction. The migration and reorganization of aggregate particles affected the evolution of the multi-physics fields of the compaction process under the action of different compaction modes.

High level dissolved B, which poses risks to human health, has been widely observed in geothermal water. In the Guide Basin, NW China, a series of geothermal water samples along a fault show a wide range of B contents ranging from 3.14 to 8.33 mg/L, which are higher than the WHO Guideline value equaling 2.4 mg/L in drinking water. To identify the sources and fate of B, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of hydrochemistry and stable isotopes (D, 18O and 11B) of three thermal fields representing three stages of hydrogeochemical evolution (stages I, II and III). From stage I to III, there are trends of increasing mineral dissolution, which is supported by increasing mean reservoir temperature and concentrations of conservative elements (Cl, Na, K, Li and Si). Geothermal water in stage I with meteoric origin and the lowest reservoir temperature has the highest B/Na resulting from silicate dissolution and falls on the mixing line between granitoids and cold water on the plot of δ11B versus 1/B, showing the control of silicate dissolution. However, geothermal water in stage III has lower Ca, B Sr and B/Na than that in stage II. Because of the occurrence of other processes, geothermal water in stages II and III deviates from the LMWL. Compared with geothermal water in stage I, the increased Sr/Ca and decreased B/Ca show that B are removed by both coprecipitation and vapor separation. With the aid of B isotopes, we find vapor separation dominates in stage II, whereas carbonate precipitation dominates in stage III. Overall, a combined use of three isotopes (H, O and B) and three element ratios (B/Na, B/Ca and Sr/Ca) leads to a complete understanding of B cycle and hydrogeochemical evolution in hydrothermal systems.

This paper analyses the interaction between the novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), unemployment rate, stock market, consumer confidence index (CCI), and economic policy uncertainty (EPU) index in China within a time-frequency framework. We compare the changes in economic indicators during the global financial crisis (GFC) and study the different impacts of the two events on China's economy. An unprecedented impact of COVID-19 shocks on the unemployment rate, CCI, EPU index, and stock market volatility over the low frequency bands is uncovered by applying the coherence wavelet method to China monthly data. The COVID-19 effect on the stock market volatility and the EPU index is substantially higher than on the unemployment rate and the CCI. On the contrary, the GFC's impact on the unemployment rate is much greater than that on the EPU index and CCI. Additionally, the impact of the GFC on the economy is more cyclical in the long-term, while the COVID-19 pandemic is a short-term shock with a relatively short oscillation cycle. This study concludes that the economic impact of COVID-19 will not spread into a financial crisis for China and believe that the COVID-19 pandemic is more of a health event than an economic crisis for Chinese economy.

CONTEXT: Valerian extract capsule (VEC) is an effective Chinese patent medicine used for gastrointestinal (GI) diseases. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the detailed pharmacological activity for VEC clinical effects in GI diseases. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into six groups: control, model, and drug-treated (VEC-L, VEC-M, VEC-H, and teprenone). Rats were orally administered VEC (124, 248, 496 mg/kg) and teprenone (21.43 mg/kg) for 3 consecutive days. After 1 h, the five groups (except the control group) were orally given ethanol (10 mL/kg) for 1 h or indomethacin (80 mg/kg) for 7 h. The spasmolytic activity of VEC (0.01-1 mg/mL) on ACh/BaCl2-induced New Zealand rabbit smooth muscle contraction was performed. The C57BL/6 mice carbon propelling test evaluated the effects of VEC (248-992 mg/kg) on intestinal motility in normal and neostigmine/adrenaline-induced mice. RESULTS: Compared with the model group, VEC treatment reduced the gastric lesion index and mucosal damage. Further experiments showed that the pathological ameliorative effect of VEC was accompanied by augmentation of the enzymatic antioxidant system and cytoprotective marker (COX-1, p < 0.01; PGI2 p < 0.05;), along with the alleviation of the levels of MPO (ethanol: 15.56 ± 0.82 vs. 12.15 ± 2.60, p < 0.01; indomethacin: 9.65 ± 3.06 vs. 6.36 ± 2.43, p < 0.05), MDA (ethanol: 1.66 ± 0.44 vs. 0.81 ± 0.58, p < 0.01; indomethacin: 1.71 ± 0.87 vs. 1.09 ± 0.43, p < 0.05), and inflammatory mediators. VEC decreased the high tone induced by ACh/BaCl2 and promoted intestinal transit in normal and neostigmine/adrenaline-induced mice. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: VEC showed a potential gastroprotective effect, suggesting that VEC is a promising phytomedicine for the treatment of GI diseases.

A SiO2@MOF core-shell microsphere for environmentally friendly applications was introduced in this study. Several types of metal-organic framework core-shell microspheres were successfully synthesized. To achieve high stability and favorable catalytic performance, modification and coating methods were necessary for optimization. The improved SiO2@MOF core-shell microspheres were used in the cycloaddition reaction of carbon dioxide and propylene oxide. Dispersion ability was enhanced by the addition of core-shell microspheres, which also produced high catalytic activity. Accompanied with tetrabutylammonium bromide as a co-catalyst, SiO2@ZIF-67 had a maximum conversion of 97%, and the results revealed that SiO2@ZIF-67 could be used for 5 reaction cycles while maintaining high catalytic performance. This recycling catalyst was also reacted with a series of terminal epoxides to form corresponding cyclic carbonates with high conversion rates, indicating that SiO2@MOF core-shell microspheres exhibit promise in the field of catalysis.

COVID-19 not only poses a huge threat to public health, but also affects people's mental health. Take scientific and effective psychological crisis intervention to prevent large-scale negative emotional contagion is an important task for epidemic prevention and control. This paper established a sentiment classification model to make sentiment annotation (positive and negative) about the 105,536 epidemic comments in 86 days on the official Weibo of People's Daily, the test results showed that the accuracy of the model reached 88%, and the AUC value was greater than 0.9. Based on the marked data set, we explored the potential law between the changes in Internet public opinion and epidemic situation in China. First of all, we found that most of the Weibo users showed positive emotions, and the negative emotions were mainly caused by the fear and concern about the epidemic itself and the doubts about the work of the government. Secondly, there is a strong correlation between the changes of epidemic situation and people's emotion. Also, we divided the epidemic into three period. The proportion of people's negative emotions showed a similar trend with the number of newly confirmed cases in the growth and decay period, and the extinction period. In addition, we also found that women have more positive emotional performance than men, and the high-impact groups is also more positive than the low-impact groups. We hope that these conclusions can help China and other countries experiencing severe epidemics to guide publics respond.

BACKGROUND: Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) has attracted increasing attention over the past few decades. We aim to evaluate FAI research and predict research hot spots quantitatively and qualitatively. METHODS: The publications in FAI research between 2000 and 2019 were assimilated from the Web of Science Core Collection of Clarivate Analytics. The retrieved data were evaluated by the bibliometric method. Software CiteSpace 5.7.R1, VOSviewer 1.6.15, and the Online Analysis Platform of Literature Metrology (http://bibliometric.com/) were used to analyze and identify the hot spots and trends in this field. RESULTS: A total of 2471 originals articles that fulfilled the study requirements were obtained. The number of manuscripts on FAI has experienced rapid growth, especially after 2009. The United States of America was the leading country for publication and to the collaboration network. FAI, osteoarthritis, hip arthroscopy, labral reconstruction, pathomorphology, outcome, rehabilitation, and joint cartilage are some of the high-frequency keywords in co-occurrence cluster analysis and cocited reference cluster analysis. Burst detection analysis of top keywords revealed that outcomes, instability, labral reconstruction, adolescent, and risk factor were newly emerged research hot spots. CONCLUSION: The understanding of FAI has been improved significantly during the past two decades. Present studies focused on identifying the optimal method to treat labral pathology, outcome assessment of either surgeries or conservative managements, and predicting midterm and long-term outcomes. Together these studies exert critical implications for decision-making and management for FAI.

BACKGROUND: In pediatric living-donor liver transplantation, lactated Ringer's solution and normal saline are commonly used for intraoperative fluid management, but the comparative clinical outcomes remain uncertain. AIMS: To compare the effect between lactated Ringer's solution and normal saline for intraoperative volume replacement on clinical outcomes among pediatric living-donor liver transplantation patients. METHODS: This single-center, retrospective trial study enrolled children who received either lactated Ringer's solution or normal saline during living-donor liver transplantation between January 2010 and August 2016. The groups with comparable clinical characteristics were balanced by propensity score matching. The primary outcome was 90-day all-cause mortality, and the secondary outcomes included early allograft dysfunction, primary nonfunction, acute renal injury, and hospital-free days (days alive postdischarge within 30 days of liver transplantation). RESULTS: We included 333 pediatric patients who met the entry criteria for analysis. Propensity score matching identified 61 patients in each group. After matching, the lactated Ringer's solution group had a higher 90-day mortality rate than the normal saline group (11.5% vs. 0.0%). Early allograft dysfunction and primary nonfunction incidences were also more frequent in the lactated Ringer's solution group (19.7% and 11.5%, respectively) than in the normal saline group (3.3% and 0.0%, respectively). In the lactated Ringer's solution group, four (6.6%) recipients developed acute renal injury within 7 days postoperatively compared with three (4.9%) recipients in the normal saline group. Hospital-free days did not differ between groups (9 days [1-13] vs. 9 days [0-12]). CONCLUSIONS: For intraoperative fluid management in pediatric living-donor liver transplantation patients, lactated Ringer's solution administration was associated with a higher 90-day mortality rate than normal saline. This finding has important implications for selecting crystalloid in pediatric living-donor liver transplantation. Further randomized clinical trials in larger cohort are necessary to confirm this finding.

Recently, most countries have entered the outbreak period of the novel coronavirus epidemic. This sudden outbreak has caused a huge impact on the global economy, which has intensified the division of globalization and the recession of the global economy. Although the epidemic situation in China has gradually stabilized, the severe situation in the world still inevitably impacts China's economy. Based on the uncertainty of future epidemic, this paper sets up three scenarios to analyze the impact of the epidemic on China's economy. The first is that in June, the epidemic both at home and abroad is under control without rebound; the second is that the domestic epidemic is basically controlled but the foreign situation is not effectively controlled; the third is that the epidemic situation in China has a serious rebound due to the influence of the imported cases from abroad, which destroy the economy again. At the same time, some corresponding guidelines are put forward for the recovery of economy, and to minimize the economic losses as well as accelerate the pace of national economic recovery. In addition, it is believed that these suggestions may have certain reference value to other countries.

With the rapid development of the global economy, crude oil is becoming more and more prominent in terms of national stability. However, oil prices dramatically fluctuate during emergencies. Meanwhile, network search data have been widely used for prediction during the era of big data. Herein, a suggestion is introduced for improving the traditional case analysis. An autoregressive distributed lag model is established, considering emergency and network search data. Moreover, a network attention index of specific emergencies is used to explain fluctuations of the oil price and the influence of this attention is analyzed. Results show: 1) major emergencies have a significant short-term impact on the international oil market and a remarkable influence on the cumulative abnormal return of an event window, and 2) market attention can aggravate fluctuations of oil prices. It is found that the individual network attention paid to each of four emergencies has a significant impact on oil prices. The network attention related to Hurricane Katrina and the Libyan war has positive effects on oil prices. However, the effects of network attention paid to the subprime crisis and the Mexico oil spill of 2010 are negative. The attention paid to the subprime crisis has both the greatest and the longest lasting impact.

Importance: Many indicators need to be considered when judging the condition of patients with infertility, which makes diagnosis and treatment complicated. Objective: To construct a dynamic scoring system for infertility to assist clinicians in efficiently and accurately assessing the condition of patients with infertility. Design, Setting, and Participants: This prognostic study reviewed 95 868 medical records of couples with infertility in which women had undergone in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer at the Reproductive Center of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, in Wuhan, Hubei, China, from January 2006 to May 2019. A dynamic diagnosis and grading system for infertility was constructed. The analysis was conducted between May 20, 2019, and April 15, 2020. Main Outcomes and Measures: Patients were divided into pregnant and nonpregnant groups according to eventual pregnancy results. The evaluation index system was constructed based on the test results of the significant difference between the 2 groups of indicators and the clinician's experience. Random forest machine learning was used to determine the weight of the index, and the entropy-based feature discretization algorithm classified the abnormality of the index and the patient's condition. A 10-fold cross-validation method was used to test the validity of the system. Results: A total of 60 648 couples with infertility were enrolled, in which 15 021 women became pregnant, with a mean (SD) age of 30.30 (4.02) years. A total of 45 627 couples were in the nonpregnant group, with a mean (SD) age among women of 32.17 (5.58) years. Seven indicators were selected to build the dynamic grading system for patients with infertility: age, body mass index, follicle-stimulating hormone level, antral follicle count, anti-Mullerian hormone level, number of oocytes, and endometrial thickness. The importance weight of each indicator obtained by the random forest algorithm was 0.1748 for age, 0.0785 for body mass index, 0.0581 for follicle-stimulating hormone level, 0.1214 for antral follicle count, 0.1616 for anti-Mullerian hormone level, 0.2307 for number of oocytes, and 0.1749 for endometrial thickness. The grading system divided the condition of the patient with infertility into 5 grades from A to E. The worst E grade represented a 0.90% pregnancy rate, and the pregnancy rate in the A grade was 53.82%. The cross-validation results showed that the stability of the system was 95.94% (95% CI, 95.14%-96.74%). Conclusions and Relevance: This machine learning-derived algorithm may assist clinicians in making an efficient and accurate initial judgment on the condition of patients with infertility.

The NOx degradation performance of nano-TiO2 as a coating material for the road environment was evaluated in this research. The nano-TiO2 coating materials for both road surface and roadside were prepared by using anatase nano-TiO2, activated carbon powder, silane coupling agent and deionized water. The impact of varying amounts of coating material and silane coupling agent were evaluated. The road environment of NOx degradation was simulated by the photocatalytic test system designed by the research team. For the road surface coating, the photocatalytic degradation experiments of NO under different radiation intensities were carried out. The results show that the material has good photocatalytic degradation performance, and the proper amount of silane coupling agent can enhance the bonding performance of the material and asphalt mixture. For the roadside coating, sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate was selected as the surfactant to carry out the photocatalytic degradation experiment of NO2 with different dosages of surfactant. The results showed that when the mass ratio of nano-TiO2 and surfactant was about 1:2, the catalytic degradation effect of the material was the best.

AIM: To investigate the association between socioeconomic status (SES) and visual disability (VD) among older Chinese adults. METHODS: We obtained data from the Second National Sample Survey on Disability, conducted in China in 2006. A total number of 192 375 older adults (aged≥65y) were screened for suspected VD via interviews with trained examiners. Those who screened positively for VD were referred to ophthalmologists to obtain a final diagnosis. RESULTS: VD was prevalent among 7.29% of Chinese adults aged 65 and older, and was higher in rural areas (8.71%) than in urban areas (4.82%). After adjusting for SES indicators and covariates, we found that less-educated older adults were more likely to suffer from VD, with an odds ratio (OR) of 2.50 (95%CI: 2.26-2.82) for illiterates, compared with those who graduated from senior high school or above. Older adults who were in the lowest income quintile were more at risk of VD, with an OR of 1.81 (95%CI: 1.68-2.95), compared with adults in the highest income quintile. In urban areas, when compared with adults who graduated from senior high school or above, those who did not continue their education after junior high school, primary school, or those who were illiterate, were more likely to suffer from VD, with an OR of 1.35 (95%CI: 1.51-1.59), 1.84 (95%CI: 1.60-2.12), and 2.63 (95%CI: 2.27-3.04), respectively. Lower levels of income were statistically significant when associated with VD. In rural areas, adults who were illiterate had an OR of 2.21 (95%CI: 1.75-2.79) when compared to adults with senior high school or above education level. Per capita, household income remained significantly associated with VD. Older adults who were ≥85, female, single, and residing in rural areas were associated with higher risks of VD. CONCLUSION: Individual-level SES among the elderly, in the form of education and income, is associated with VD among elderly Chinese adults in both urban and rural areas; however, the association is stronger in rural areas. Further studies are still required to explore the mechanism behind the relationships.

AIM: To evaluate the 2-year efficacy and safety of ab interno trabeculectomy with the Trabectome in Chinese primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) patients. METHODS: This was a multicenter, retrospective, observational study and included POAG patients with or without visually-significant cataracts. The Chinese patients were enrolled from three glaucoma centers and a group of comparable Japanese POAG patients was analyzed from our international Trabectome database. The patients received Trabectome or a combined surgery with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation. The primary outcome was intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction. Secondary outcomes included reduction of glaucoma medications, surgical complications, and success at 2y. Success was defined as: 1) IOP≤21 mm Hg and at least 20% IOP reduction from baseline after 3mo at any two consecutive visits; 2) no additional glaucoma surgery required. RESULTS: A total of 42 Chinese POAG patients from three glaucoma centers were enrolled. Twelve patients underwent Trabectome surgery combined with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation while the remainder underwent Trabectome surgery alone. Thirteen patients had a history of failed glaucoma surgery and were considered as complicated cases. In China data, the mean preoperative IOP was 21.4±1.23 mm Hg. The Trabectome lowered IOP to 17.9±1.8 mm Hg at 2y (P=0.05). The number of glaucoma medications also decreased significantly from a baseline of 2.0±0.9 to 1.1±0.8 at 2y post-surgery (P=0.04). The overall 2-year success rate was 78%, with patients undergoing combined surgery having a higher success rate compared with those undergoing Trabectome surgery alone (100% vs 76%). In Japan data, the mean preoperative IOP was 20.8±7.7 mm Hg. The Trabectome lowered IOP to 12.20±2.0 mm Hg at 2y. The number of glaucoma medications also decreased significantly from a baseline of 2.1±0.9 to 3.4±0.6 at 2y post-surgery. In all patients, no major complications were seen. CONCLUSION: Surgery with the Trabectome appears to be an efficient and safe procedure in Chinese POAG patients in the long-term.

Data aggregation is a widely adopted method to effectively reduce the data transmission volume and improve the lifetime of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In the data aggregation networks, some parameters directly determine the delay of aggregation. In industrial applications, the data generated by different sensors have different requirements for delay or other QoS performance. In the previous study, a common strategy is that all kinds of data is aggregated into one frame when the condition is satisfied with a QoS requirement, which causes excessive energy consumption and severely impairs the lifetime of network. A Differentiated Data Aggregation Routing (DDAR) scheme is proposed to reduce energy consumption and guarantee that the delay could be controlled within the corresponding QoS requirement constraint. The primary contributions of the DDAR scheme are the following: (a) The DDAR scheme makes data with different QoS requirement route to the sink along the different paths. The parameters of the aggregators in each path, such as aggregation deadline (Tt) and the aggregation threshold (Nt), are configured according to the QoS requirements. Accordingly, energy consumption can be reduced without degrading the performance of data transmission. (b) Based on DDAR scheme, an improved DDAR scheme is proposed to further improve performance through fully utilize the residual energy in the nodes which are far from the sink. The frequency of aggregation of these nodes increases by reducing the value of Tt and Nt so as to further improve the energy efficiency and reduce delay. Simulation results demonstrate that compared with the previous scheme, this scheme reduces the delay by 25.01%, improves the lifetime by 55.45%, and increases energy efficiency by 83.99%. The improved DDAR scheme improves the energy efficiency by 33.97% and service guarantee rate by 10.11%.

BACKGROUND: Trabeculectomy is the most efficient surgical treatment. Prevention failure of bleb cicatrix would lead to unsatisfactory postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) controlling and unsatisfactory success rate. The aim of this study was to evaluate the 5-year outcomes of trabeculectomy with a cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel implantation for Chinese glaucoma patients. METHODS: This is a prospective, case-controlled study. Patients who were to be applied first-time trabeculectomy in the Department of Ophthalmology of Peking University Third Hospital between 2010 and 2012 were included in the study. Totally, 60 eyes were randomly assigned to the trabeculectomy group (TA group) or the trabeculectomy with cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel implantation group (TH group). Follow-up was finished at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years after the operation. The statistical index of demographic data, IOP, bleb shape, and any complications or medications or surgical procedures were recorded and assessed by SPSS 19.0 software through independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson's Chi-square test, respectively. RESULTS: The baseline IOP was comparable between the two groups (t= -1.00, P= 0.32) while the postoperative IOP was significantly lower in the TH group at 1, 3 and 5 years' time points (P = 0.00, P= 0.01 and P = 0.01, respectively). According to the Indiana Bleb Appearance Grading Scale, the height and extent of bleb were better in the TH group at all follow-up time points (P < 0.05), however, the comparison of bleb vascularity showed no statistical difference (P > 0.05). TA group had a higher percentage of complications (13% vs. 3%) compared to TH group; however, there was no statistical difference in the comparison of each statistical item (P > 0.05, respectively). The complete success at 5 years was higher in the TH group than that in the TA group (78% vs. 54%, P = 0.03). CONCLUSION: Our results suggested that implantation of cross-linked sodium hyaluronate gel with trabeculectomy was more efficient and would improve the prognosis of glaucoma patients.

OBJECTIVE: Treatment modalities in medically compromised patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are controversial. Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) or stereotactic ablative radiotherapy has been increasingly recognized as a favorable alternative to surgical resection for early-stage NSCLC. Many retrospective analyses compared the efficacy of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) with surgery for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the efficacy between SBRT and surgery regimens for patients with early-stage NSCLC remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy between SBRT and surgery. METHODS: Publications on comparison SBRT with Surgery in treatment of early stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) from 2011 to 2017 were collected. Retrospective trials analyzed the summary hazard ratios (HRs) of overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), local control survival (LC), regional control survival (RC), loco-regional control survival (LRC), and distant control survival (DC) between SBRT and Surgery. The major outcomes measures were hazard ratios (HRs). Meta-analysis Revman 5.3 software was used to analyze the combined Pooled HRs using fixed- or random-effects models according to the heterogeneity. RESULT: A systematic literature search was conducted including14 studies. In this meta-analysis, patients with SBRT achieved inferior OS, DFS, LC, RC, LRC and DC, compared with surgery. CONCLUSION: In this study we found more favorable outcomes with stage I NSCLC treated with SBRT. The surgery had no obvious advantages in this meta-analysis. Although surgery has become the recommended treatment at present, SBRT has potential to be an alternative treatment as a novel non-invasive radiation therapy modality in patients with stage I-II NSCLC.

A sensitive capsaicin sensor was constructed based on a poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) functionalized graphite modified screen printed electrode (PSS-Grp/SPE) in this study. The PSS-Grp and poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) functionalized graphite (PDDA-Grp) were easily synthesized by interacting Grp with PSS and PDDA through sonication, and resulted in negative and with positive charges on the surface, respectively. The prepared PSS-Grp and PDDA-Grp were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and ultraviolet and visible spectroscopy (UV-vis). The electrochemical performance of PSS-Grp in a 50 µM capsaicin solution presented a current density of 33 µA cm-2, which was much higher than the PDDA-Grp of 1.5 µA cm-2. Our study showed that capsaicin could interact better with strong negative charges on the PSS-Grp/SPE surface to give a higher electrochemical response. The direct electrochemical sensing of capsaicin was achieved at PSS-Grp/SPE using differential pulse stripping voltammetry (DPSV) under the optimized conditions.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of Ficolin-A, a lectin complement against Plasmodium berghei in mice model. METHODS: The Mr 19,000 fragment of merozoite surface protein-1 of P. berghei (MSP1(19)) was cloned and then subcloned into the vector pGEX-KG. The recombinants of pGEX-KG-Ficolin-A and pGEX-KG-MSP1(19) were transformed into Escherichia coli BL21, and followed by expression of the protein induced by 1 mmol/L IPTG. The fusion protein was purified by affinity chromatography using Glutathione Sepharose 4B, and then identified by SDS-PAGE and Western-blotting. Five mouse model groups were treated with PBS, GST, Ficolin-A, MSP1(19), or Ficolin-A+MSP1(19), respectively. Each group had eight mice. Mice in Ficolin-A or MSP1(19) groups were injected with 20 microg Ficolin-A or MSP1(19) protein each time, respectively. Mice in Ficolin-A+MSP1(19) group were injected with 20 microg Ficolin-A and 20 microg MSP1(19) each time. Mice in control groups were injected with 200 microl PBS or 20 microg GST, respectively. All the mice received four immunizations at 2-week intervals. Two weeks after the last immunization, all the mice were inoculated with 300 microl Plasmodium berghei-infected red blood cells. On day 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 post-infection, blood samples were collected from three mice of each group, and the Giemsa stained-blood films were microscopically examined. Density of malaria parasites was calculated. The survival rate was evaluated on day 20 post-infection. RESULTS: The recombinant vectors of pGEX-KG-Ficolin-A and pGEX-KG-MSP1(19) were constructed. Purified fusion proteins, Ficolin-A-GST and MSP1(19)-GST, were obtained. Western blotting analysis indicated that the relative molecular mass of fusion proteins Ficolin-A-GST and MSP1(19)-GST was about Mr 69,000 and Mr 41,000. Animal experiments showed that on day 10 after infection, the parasite density in Ficolin-A+MSP1(19) group [(22.2 +/- 1.7)%] was slightly lower than that of the groups MSP1(19) [(33.4 +/- 2.7)%], Ficolin-A [(36.2 3.1)%], GST [(43.8 +/- 4.8)%] and PBS [(45.3 +/- 3.6)%], but the difference was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). No mouse survived in PBS group on day 20 after infection. There was no significant difference in number of survival mice between Ficolin-A group (3 mice) and GST group (2 mice). Six mice survived in Ficolin-A+MSP1(19) group, which was significantly more than that of GST group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Ficolin-A cannot significantly suppress parasite density. However, Ficolin-A+MSP1(19) can increase the survival rate of Plasmodium berghei-infected mice.
