[Enterovirus non-poliomyelitis infections in Krasnodar region].

AIM: Evaluation of epidemic situation by non-poliomyelitis enterovirus infections in Krasnodar region in multi-year dynamics and characterization of clinical course of enterovirus serous meningitis in hospitalize patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective analysis of non-poliomyelitis enterovirus infection epidemi process manifestations during 2002-2012 in Krasnodar region territory based on data of Center of Hygien and Epidemiology in Krasnodar Region. RESULTS: Clinical-epidemiologic characteristics of enterovirus infections in Krasnodar region are presented. Landscape ofenteroviruses isolated from the environment of some territories of the region and from the biological material of patients with various diseases is demonstrated. Clinical features ofenterovirus meningitis course are characterized. CONCLUSION: Enterovirus transmission b contact route was established to be the most frequent. A lack of pathognomonic symptoms and awareness o physicians of various specialties regarding diagnostics of this infection are the clinical problems of non-po liomyelitis enterovirus diseases.

[Fungiotoxic properties of steroid saponins from the rhizomes of deltoid dioscorea]. / Izuchenie fungitoksicheskikh svoistv steroidnykh saponinov iz kornevishch dioskorei del'tovidnoi

Experiments were carried to test the fungitoxic effect of steroid glycosides--deltoside and deltonine--(representatives of spiro and furostanol saponins) on the growth of conidia F. solani and zoospores Ph. infestans. Both saponins inhibited the growth of test-objects in a different degree. A correlation between the membranolytic effect of the tested compounds on the mobile envelope-free zoospores of F. solani and their capacity to form cholesterol complexes was established. There was no direct relationship between the degree of fungal toxicity and membranolytic activity of the compounds.

[Study of the structure of bacteriophage DD7 by the small angle of dispersion x-ray method]. / Izuchenie struktury bakteriofaga DD7 metodom rentgenovskogo malouglovogo rasseianiia

The method of roentgen small angle dispersion was used for the study of the structure of bacteriophage DD7. According to the results, phage DD7 is a homogeneous icosahedral particle (with the edge of 410-415 A) with a round cylindrical tail (1700-1750 A in length, 110-120 A in diameter). The lineal sizes of the head exceed those determined by electron microscope approximately by 25%. The thickness of the protein coat of the phage is 25-30 A, that is, 2 times less than that of phages Cd and PB-2. This confirms the assumption that the lipid-containing portion of the phage coat is eliminated by centrifugation in cesium chloride density gradient.

[Phytoalexin activity in apples as an indication of their resistance to phytopathogenic microorganisms]. / Fitoaleksinnaia aktivnost' iablok kak pokazatel' ustoichivosti k fitopatogennym mikroorganizmam

Phytoalexin activity of various apple varieties was measured during their storage at subcryoscopic (-2.3 degrees C) and supracryoscopic (-1.3 degrees C) temperatures. More resistant late winter apple varieties Renet Simitrenko and Renet Champagne showed higher phyto-alexin activity than the autumn-winter strain Calville Snowy. By the end of storage the phytoalexin activity decreased independently on the storage conditions. However, the apples that were kepat at supracryoscopic temperature retained a hight phytoalexin activity. The apples which were kept at -2.3 degrees C showed no phytoalexin activity.
