RESUMO

Magnetic-free nonreciprocal optical devices have attracted great attention in recent years. Here, we investigated the magnetic-free polarization rotation of light in an atom vapor cell. Two mechanisms of magnetic-free nonreciprocity have been realized in ensembles of hot atoms, including electromagnetically induced transparency and optically-induced magnetization. For a linearly polarized input probe light, a rotation angle up to 86.4° has been realized with external control and pump laser powers of 10 mW and is mainly attributed to the optically-induced magnetization effect. Our demonstration offers a new approach to realize nonreciprocal devices, which can be applied to solid-state atom ensembles and may be useful in photonic integrated circuits.

RESUMO

Phthalic acid ester (PAE) contamination in popular drink bubble tea has been hardly studied in the world. In this work, a liquid-liquid extraction following solid phase extraction (LLE-SPE)-UPLC-MS/MS method was first established for trace determination of ten PAEs in bubble tea. The developed method was validated with respect to linearity (R2 > 0.992), low limit of detections (LODs, 0.49-3.16 µg/L), and satisfactory recoveries (61.8-127.6%) with a low relative standard derivations (RSDs, 1.1-16.4%), which was also validated for commercial milk. Six out of ten PAEs, i.e., diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), dihexyl phthalate (DHP), and diphenyl phthalate (DPP) were detected in Chinese bubble tea with concentrations ranging from not detection (ND) to 53.43 µg/L, while DEHP, DBP, DIBP, DEP, and dimethyl phthalate (DMP) were detected in commercial milk with concentrations ranging from ND to 110.58 µg/L. The respective average concentrations of DEHP in Chinese bubble tea and commercial milk were 19.40 and 23.46 µg/L, which were over two times that in drinking water quality standards of several countries including Israel, Korea, Oman, and Singapore (i.e., 8 µg/L). Calculated with human estimated daily intake (EDI), the average EDIs of five out of seven PAEs in bubble tea were higher than those in commercial milk. For example, the calculated EDI of DIBP in bubble tea was 5 times that in commercial milk, while their respective corresponding EDIs of DBP and DEHP were over 2.4 and 1.6 times. Based on estrogen equivalence (EEQ) with the unit of ng E2/L, the average EEQs of the ten PAEs in Chinese bubble tea and commercial milk were 14.26 and 17.06 ng E2/L, which were 52.8 and 62.3 times the observed effect concentration that could cause egg mortality of zebrafish. It is evident that the potential estrogenic effect of PAEs in bubble tea and commercial milk cannot be negligible. Given the fact that PAE contamination in bubble tea has been hardly investigated, such study is urgently to be performed in a global view.

RESUMO

Twisted van der Waals structures exhibit a variety of unusual electrical and optical phenomena and could provide a powerful means for designing nanodevices with tunable chiral properties. However, programming intrinsic chiral properties of the film on the atomic scale remains a great challenge due to the limitations of fabrication and measurement techniques. Here, we report a highly tunable large optical activity of twisted anisotropic two-dimensional (2D) materials, including black phosphorus (BP), ReS2, PdSe2, and α-MoO3, by varying the twist angle between the stacked layers. The chirality can be deliberately tailored through the engineering of the symmetry, band structure, and anisotropy of 2D materials, demonstrating the high tunability of the chirality. The results show the highest thickness-normalized ellipticity value (13.8 deg µm-1, twisted ReS2) and ellipticity value (1581 mdeg, twisted BP) among the systems based on 2D materials. It is also shown that the chiroptical response exists in an extremely large spectral range from the visible to the infrared. Furthermore, the twisted ReS2 enabled spin-selective control of the information transformation. These results show that highly controllable chirality in twisted 2D anisotropic materials has considerable potential in on-chip polarization optics, nano-optoelectronics, and biology.

RESUMO

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by synovial joint hyperplasia, joint inflammation, cartilage erosion and bone destruction. Macrophages play an essential role in the pathogenesis of RA, and folate receptor ß (FR-ß) is highly expressed on the surface of activated synovial macrophages in RA patients. Triptolide (TP) has anti-inflammatory properties, and it can protect the cartilage matrix, but its clinical application has been limited due to poor solubility, low bioavailability and systemic toxicity. Therefore, we constructed folate-modified triptolide liposomes (FA-TP-Lips) to target macrophages, thereby treating RA in a safe and effective way. The experiments indicated that FA-TP-Lips had properties of small particle size, uniform particle size distribution, high drug encapsulation and long circulation. Furthermore, FA-TP-Lips showed reduced cytotoxicity, increased cellular uptake and significant anti-inflammatory effects in vitro. It also inhibited osteoclastogenesis. In vivo experiments revealed that liposomes could prolong the circulation of TP in the body, as well as exhibit significant cartilage-protective and anti-inflammatory effects with lower toxicity compared with the free TP group, thereby providing a promising new approach for the treatment of RA.

RESUMO

Cancer is a complex disease associated with multiple gene mutations and malignant phenotypes, and multi-target drugs provide a promising therapy idea for the treatment of cancer. Natural products with abundant chemical structure types and rich pharmacological characteristics could be ideal sources for screening multi-target antineoplastic drugs. In this paper, 50 tumor-related targets were collected by searching the Therapeutic Target Database and Thomson Reuters Integrity database, and a multi-target anti-cancer prediction system based on mt-QSAR models was constructed by using naïve Bayesian and recursive partitioning algorithm for the first time. Through the multi-target anti-cancer prediction system, some dominant fragments that act on multiple tumor-related targets were analyzed, which could be helpful in designing multi-target anti-cancer drugs. Anti-cancer traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and its natural products were collected to form a TCM formula-based natural products library, and the potential targets of the natural products in the library were predicted by multi-target anti-cancer prediction system. As a result, alkaloids, flavonoids and terpenoids were predicted to act on multiple tumor-related targets. The predicted targets of some representative compounds were verified according to literature review and most of the selected natural compounds were found to exert certain anti-cancer activity in vitro biological experiments. In conclusion, the multi-target anti-cancer prediction system is very effective and reliable, and it could be further used for elucidating the functional mechanism of anti-cancer TCM formula and screening for multi-target anti-cancer drugs. The anti-cancer natural compounds found in this paper will lay important information for further study.

RESUMO

Recently, palladium diselenide (PdSe2) has emerged as a promising material with potential applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices due to its intriguing electronic and optical properties. The performance of the device is strongly dependent on the charge-carrier dynamics and the related hot phonon behavior. Here, we investigate the photoexcited-carrier dynamics and coherent acoustic phonon (CAP) oscillations in mechanically exfoliated PdSe2 flakes with a thickness ranging from 10.6 nm to 54 nm using time-resolved non-degenerate pump-probe transient reflection (TR) spectroscopy. The results imply that the CAP frequency is thickness-dependent. Polarization-resolved transient reflection (PRTR) measurements reveal the isotropic charge-carrier relaxation dynamics and the CAP frequency in the 10.6 nm region. In addition, the deformation potential (DP) mechanism dominates the generation of the CAP. Moreover, a sound velocity of 6.78 × 103 m s-1 is extracted from the variation of the oscillation period with the flake thickness and the delay time of the acoustic echo. These results provide insight into the ultrafast optical coherent acoustic phonon and optoelectronic properties of PdSe2 and may open new possibilities for PdSe2 applications in THz-frequency mechanical resonators.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To evaluate isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) status in clinically diagnosed grade II~IV glioma patients using the 2016 World Health Organization (WHO) classification based on MRI parameters. MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred and seventy-six patients with confirmed WHO grade II~IV glioma were retrospectively investigated as the study set, including lower-grade glioma (WHO grade II, n = 64; WHO grade III, n = 38) and glioblastoma (WHO grade IV, n = 74). The minimum apparent diffusion coefficient (ADCmin) in the tumor and the contralateral normal-appearing white matter (ADCn) and the rADC (ADCmin to ADCn ratio) were defined and calculated. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) analysis was carried out to evaluate interobserver and intraobserver agreement for the ADC measurements. Interobserver agreement for the morphologic categories was evaluated by Cohen's kappa analysis. The nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test was used to determine whether the ADC measurements and glioma subtypes were related. By univariable analysis, if the differences in a variable were significant (P<0.05) or an image feature had high consistency (ICC >0.8; κ >0.6), then it was chosen as a predictor variable. The performance of the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was evaluated using several machine learning models, including logistic regression, support vector machine, Naive Bayes and Ensemble. Five evaluation indicators were adopted to compare the models. The optimal model was developed as the final model to predict IDH status in 40 patients with glioma as the subsequent test set. DeLong analysis was used to compare significant differences in the AUCs. RESULTS: In the study set, six measured variables (rADC, age, enhancement, calcification, hemorrhage, and cystic change) were selected for the machine learning model. Logistic regression had better performance than other models. Two predictive models, model 1 (including all predictor variables) and model 2 (excluding calcification), correctly classified IDH status with an AUC of 0.897 and 0.890, respectively. The test set performed equally well in prediction, indicating the effectiveness of the trained classifier. The subgroup analysis revealed that the model predicted IDH status of LGG and GBM with accuracy of 84.3% (AUC = 0.873) and 85.1% (AUC = 0.862) in the study set, and with the accuracy of 70.0% (AUC = 0.762) and 70.0% (AUC = 0.833) in the test set, respectively. CONCLUSION: Through the use of machine-learning algorithms, the accurate prediction of IDH-mutant versus IDH-wildtype was achieved for adult diffuse gliomas via noninvasive MR imaging characteristics, including ADC values and tumor morphologic features, which are considered widely available in most clinical workstations.

RESUMO

It is an important subject with practical significance in modern medical testing about how to obtain various indicators in blood effectively and conveniently. In this essay, the prediction model of triglyceride (TG) concentration was studied based on the fluorescence spectrum of human serum. Firstly, the concept of effective signal intensity was proposed based on the results of wavelet decomposition that the noise signals of spectrum was mainly distributed in the first and second detailed components, and 280 nm was selected as the optimal excitation wavelength for modeling. Secondly, the correlation between fluorescence spectra and triglyceride concentration was studied, which showed that derivative and wavelet decomposition can greatly reduce the multiple correlation of spectrum. Finally, prediction models of triglyceride (TG) concentration were established based on Quantum Genetic Algorithm and Partial Least Squares method, and the result showed that the wavelet decomposition spectral and derivative spectral had better prediction effects because of their lower multiple correlation and advanced resolution, and the Root Mean Square Error reaches to 0.077 mmol/L. In order to obtain the distribution of concentration information in the spectrum, the information density was defined, which indicated that the 3rd layer detailed wavelet decomposition spectrum contains more information of triglyceride concentration. The research results of this essay provide an important reference for the component concentration detection in complex system with multi-component.

RESUMO

Achieving multifunctional van der Waals nanoelectronic devices on one structure is essential for the integration of 2D materials; however, it involves complex architectural designs and manufacturing processes. Herein, a facile, fast, and versatile laser direct write micro/nanoprocessing to fabricate diode, NPN (PNP) bipolar junction transistor (BJT) simultaneously based on a pre-fabricated black phosphorus/molybdenum disulfide heterostructure is demonstrated. The PN junctions exhibit good diode rectification behavior. Due to different carrier concentrations of BP and MoS2 , the NPN BJT, with a narrower base width, renders better performance than the PNP BJT. Furthermore, the current gain can be modulated efficiently through laser writing tunable base width WB , which is consistent with the theoretical results. The maximum gain for NPN and PNP is found to be ≈41 (@WB ≈600 nm) and ≈12 (@WB ≈600 nm), respectively. In addition, this laser write processing technique also can be utilized to realize multifunctional WSe2 /MoS2 heterostructure device. The current work demonstrates a novel, cost-effective, and universal method to fabricate multifunctional nanoelectronic devices. The proposed approach exhibits promise for large-scale integrated circuits based on 2D heterostructures.

RESUMO

Two-dimensional (2D) bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) with van der Waals heterostructures play an important role in the development of future nanoelectronics. Herein, a convenient method is introduced for fabricating a symmetric bipolar junction transistor (SBJT), constructed from black phosphorus and MoS2, with femtosecond laser processing. This SBJT exhibits good bidirectional current amplification owing to its symmetric structure. We placed a top gate on one side of the SBJT to change the difference in the major carrier concentration between the emitter and collector in order to further investigate the effects of electrostatic doping on the device performance. The SBJT can also act as a gate-tunable phototransistor with good photodetectivity and photocurrent gain of ß = ∼21. Scanning photocurrent images were used to determine the mechanism governing photocurrent amplification in the phototransistor. These results promote the development of the applications of multifunctional nanoelectronics based on 2D materials.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are recently identified as gene regulators in mammals and play important roles in carcinogenesis of cancer. For example, circRNA_PTN has been recognized as a biomarker of human cancer and is overexpressed in glioma. The molecular function of circRNA_PTN and its downstream targets in glioma, however, remains elusive. METHODS: Quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis was used to measure the expression of circular RNA pleiotrophin (circ_PTN) and miR-122. 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide, propidium iodide and Annexin-V/propidium iodide assay were performed to determine cell proliferation and apoptosis of glioma cells. Circular RNA Interactome and TargetScan were used to predict the potential microRNA targeting of circ_PTN and the potential targets of miR-122, respectively. Luciferase activity assay was used to validate these interactions. Downstream molecular mechanisms, including SRY-box transcription factor 6 (SOX6), extracellular regulated protein kinases (ERK), Cyclin D1, B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) and BCL2 associated X, apoptosis regulator (BAX), were determined by western blot. RESULTS: Circ_PTN was overexpressed in glioma cells, and its knockdown induced cell proliferation inhibition, cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in glioma cells. The target microRNA of circ_PTN was predicted to be miR-122, the expression of which was negatively correlated with circ_PTN in glioma cells. Moreover, SOX6 was predicted as a potential target of miR-122, and miR-122 overexpression decreased SOX6 expression. MiR-122 inhibitor reversed the tumor-suppressing effects of circ_PTN knockdown, while overexpression of SOX6 impaired the miR-122 overexpression-induced cell growth inhibition and apoptosis. In addition, mitogen activated kinase-like protein (MAPK)/ERK pathway was involved in circ_PTN/miR-122/SOX6 axis. CONCLUSIONS: Circ_PTN acted as a sponge of miR-122 and upregulated miR-122 target SOX6, thus promoting carcinogenesis of glioma cells.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To study the distribution and drug resistance of pathogens causing periprosthetic infections after hip and knee arthroplasty, and to formulate prevention and treatment strategies for drug-resistant bacteria.@*METHODS@#The data of 146 cases of periprosthetic infection after primary hip and knee arthroplasty from 2010 to 2015 were collected, including 111 cases of periprosthetic infection after hip arthroplasty and 35 cases of periprosthetic infection after knee arthroplasty. The culture positive rate, pathogenic bacteria composition and drug resistance rate were counted over the years, and the change trend of pathogen distribution and drug resistance was analyzed.@*RESULTS@#One hundredand eight strains of pathogenic bacteria were detected in 146 cases, and the positive rate of culture was 73.97%. Gram positive bacteria accounted for 55.48%, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus accounted for 25.34% and 15.07% respectively. Gram negative bacteria accounted for 13.01%, including Enterobacter cloacae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. There were 4 cases of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection and mixed infection. The results of culture over the years showed that the constituent ratio of Gram positive bacteria had an increasing trend, fluctuating from 39.13% to 76.47%. The results of drug sensitivity showed that the pathogens were highly resistant to β-lactams, quinolones, clindamycin and gentamicin, and the drug resistance rate was increasing, but it was still sensitive to rifampicin, nitrofurantoin, tigecycline, linezolid and vancomycin.@*CONCLUSION@#Gram positive bacteria are the main pathogens of periprosthetic infection, and the proportion is increasing gradually. The pathogens have high resistance to many kinds of antibiotics, and the resistance rate is still increasing. To strengthen the monitoring of the distribution and drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria is helpful to grasp its change trend and formulate targeted prevention and control strategies.

RESUMO

Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have a very high risk of cardiovascular related events, and reducing complications is an important evaluation criterion of efficacy and safety of hypoglycemic drugs. Previous studies have shown that the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors (DPP4i), such as sitagliptin, might reduce the incidence of major cardiovascular events (MACEs). However, the safety and efficacy of sitagliptin remains controversial, especially the safety for cardiovascular related events. Here, a systematic review was conducted to assess the cardiovascular safety of sitagliptin in T2DM patients. The literature research dating up to October 2018 was performed in the electronic database. The clinical trials about sitagliptin for T2DM patients were included. Two reviewers independently screened literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The primary outcome was the MACE, and the secondary outcome was all-cause mortality. Finally, 32 clinical trials composed of 16082 T2DM patients were included in this meta-analysis. The results showed that: there was no significant difference between sitagliptin group and the control group on MACE (odds ratio (OR) = 0.85, 95% confidence intervals (CIs) = 0.63-1.15), myocardial infarction (MI) (OR = 0.66, 95% CI = 0.38-1.16), stroke (OR = 0.83, 95% CI = 0.44-1.54) and mortality (OR = 0.52, 95% CI = 0.26-1.07). These results demonstrated that sitagliptin did not increase the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with T2DM.

RESUMO

Mineral Chinese medicine is an indispensable part in traditional Chinese medicine, with a history of several thousand years in research and utilization of medicinal mineral resources. It is a summary of the medical experience accumulated in numerous trials, observations and practices during the survival process of people of all nationalities, showing distinctive characteristics. At present, the scope of mineral medicine treatment involves internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, facial features and so on. The mineral Chinese medicine has broad clinical application in many kinds of hemorrhagic diseases, with rich experience in medication and remarkable curative effects. However, there are few papers in modern research, mainly concentrated in the 1970s-1990s. In this paper, the pharmacology and clinical application of mineral Chinese medicine with hemostatic effects in the last 40 years were reviewed, aiming to provide references for its clinical rational use in bleeding diseases, further development and utilization of mineral Chinese medicine resources of traditional Chinese medicine,in-depth study of material basis and action mechanism, and further exploration of mineral Chinese medicine resources. According to the statistics of the major Chinese medicine works,27 kinds of mineral drugs have hemostatic effects. The researches on hemostatic pharmacology of mineral Chinese medicine mainly focus on the analysis of mineral medicine elements and the effect of related elements on hemostasis,as well as the pharmacological experimental study on hemostasis, but the research is not deep-going and comprehensive. The clinical application of mineral Chinese medicine for hemostasis mainly includes digestive tract hemorrhage, hemoptysis, epistaxis, gingival hemorrhage, cerebral hemorrhage,post-abortion hemorrhage, metrorrhagia, uterine bleeding, hematochezia and external hemostasis.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the antidiarrheal effect and the gastrointestinal motility of two kinds of Limonitum with different mineral genesis, so as to select the optimal mineral genesis, and provide a theoretical basis for clinical use. Method: The selected research samples were leaching type and sedimentary type Limonitum with different mineral genesis, including powder, water decoction and dregs. In the experiment, castor oil (0.2 mL/10 g) was used to induce diarrhea, loperamide (4 mg·kg-1) was used for positive control, and then the antidiarrheal activity and the gastrointestinal motility were observed. Result: In the castor oil-induced diarrhea experiment, the diarrhea index of the water decoction (2.5,5,10 g·kg-1) and the dregs (2.5 g·kg-1) of leaching type Limonitum significantly reduced (P-1) of leaching type limonitum and the dregs (2.5,5,10 g·kg-1) of the leaching type Limonitum were significant different at the first defecation (P-1) and the water decoction (2.5 g·kg-1) of leaching type Limonitum, and the total feces weight of the mice were significantly decreased (P-1), the dregs (2.5,5,10 g·kg-1) of the sedimentary, the powder (2.5,5 g·kg-1), the water decoction (2.5,5,10 g·kg-1) and the dregs (10 g·kg-1) of leaching type Limonitum were significantly lower than those of the model group on the intestinal motility, with charcoal as a marker (P-1) of leaching type Limonitum was significantly higher than that of the model group on the content of small intestine contents (P-1) of sedimentary type limonitum, and the water decoction (2.5,5 g·kg-1) of leaching type Limonitum were significantly lower than those of the model group on gastric residual rate (P-1), the dregs (5 g·kg-1) of sedimentary type Limonitum were significantly reduced on the water content of large intestine compared with the model group (P-1 of Limonitum can inhibit the contraction of isolated ileum induced by acetylcholine in rabbits except 0.003 3 g·mL-1 water decoction of leaching type. Conclusion: Mineral medicine Limonitum has a certain therapeutic effect in castor oil-induced diarrhea. Leaching type limonitum has the best antidiarrheal effect.

RESUMO

Objective: To evaluate the quality of Limonitum from different mineral genesis and select its high quality mineral resources by analyzing its mineral compositions and content. Method: The mineral compositions and content of different samples were analyzed by polarizing microscope and X-ray diffraction, and goethite content was taken as the evaluation index. SPSS 16.0 statistical software was used for hierarchical cluster analysis of the mineral compositions in different samples. Result: Limonite, quartz, illite and mica kaolinite were the main components of Limonitum from leaching disseminated type. Sedimentary type limonite was mainly composed of limonite, quartz and albite. Residual-alteration type limonite was mainly composed of limonite, quartz, diopside and carnallite. The content of goethite in limonite was highest (46.4%) in sedimentary type limonite from Jiangxi province, followed by that in leaching-disseminated type from Jiangsu province (17.9%) and leaching-disseminated type from Shandong province (0.5%). The content of sedimentary goethite was higher than 12.0%and the content of leaching-disseminated type goethite was between 0.5%and 18.0%, with significant difference; and the content of residual-alteration type was below 3.0%. Cluster analysis of mineral components in different samples showed that 6 samples of leaching-dissemination type were clustered into one group,3 samples of sedimentation type were clustered into one group, and 2 samples of residual-alteration type were clustered into one group. Conclusion: The quality of sedimentary type Limonitum in Jiangxi is the best. Generally, the quality of sedimentary type is better than that of leaching-disseminated type, and the quality of leaching disseminated type is better than that of residual-alteration type.
