RESUMO
UNLABELLED: The data of 20 patients with subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) were evaluated according to clinical and laboratory criteria. We found the following laboratory deviations: elevated BSR, leucopenia, anti-dsDNA, anti-SSA/Ro and anti-SSB/La antibodies, positive LE cells, and elevated levels of IgE and immune complex. Aside from the characteristic skin eruptions in SCLE, the patients showed arthralgia, myalgia, and pronounced photosensitivity. THERAPY: corticoids, chloroquine, and light protection. Regular follow-up examinations are extremely important in these patients.

66 patients with chronic urticaria were examined using a three-stage examination protocol. Stage I. consisted of case history, general dermatological and internal physical examination and routine laboratory tests. Stage II. comprised investigation for focal infections (dental, oto-laryngeal, gynecological, bile culture), determination of AST, acidity tests of the stomach and aimed radiological examinations. Stage III. consisted of immunological laboratory tests (immune complex, Igs, IgE, special IgE determination) and allergological examinations (epicutaneous, intracutaneous probes, Prick test).

The total IgE level was measured by radioimmunosorbent test (Phadebas RIST, Pharmacia) in blood samples of 454 dermatological patients and 26 blood donors aged 14-70 years. The results showed different IgE values in the same groups of diseases. Elevated serum IgE values were observed in atopic dermatitis, drug allergy, discoid lupus erythematosus and chronic dermatomycosis. In drug allergy the average nonspecific IgE level of patients reacting with immediate reaction was higher than the normal value. Tested individually with Penicilloyl G RAST no strong correlation could be demonstrated between the quantity of specific and non-specific IgE.

Polymorphic light eruption (PLE) can be defined as a delayed abnormal response to sunlight. In this paper some features of the presumable immune response were studied in 55 patients with PLE and the results were compared with the findings available in 58 cases with porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT). The mean intracutaneous reactivity index measured by skin tests of delayed type was normal in both diseases. The number of the active and total E-rosette-forming peripheral lymphocytes was significantly lower in the active stage of PLE whereas in remission normal values were found. In active PCT only the number of the total E-rosette-forming cells was decreased. The percentage of lymphocytes with so-called dot-like alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase enzyme reaction was reduced significantly in the active stage of PLE whereas in remission their number was normal. Changes observed in PLE seem to be functional and suggest the involvement of T lymphocytes in some phases of the hypersensitive cutaneous reaction induced by sunlight.

Two different methods: the physicochemical PEG-test and the biological TA-test were administered for measuring the circulating IC-es. The investigations were performed in patients with DLE, sclerodermia, drug-eruptions and vasculitis as well as in control persons. The results obtained by both methods were discussed.

Lymphocyte subpopulations and serum immunoglobulins of patients with drug-hypersensitivity were studied. The results are as follows: Lymphocyte subpopulations: decrease of the E-rosette forming cells was observed in both active and symptom free state. The number of IgE-bearing lymphocytes in patients with drug-allergy was higher than that of the controls. Serum-immunoglobulins: The IgE-level in the serum of patients with drug-allergy was higher in active state than afterwards, but still higher than in the controls but it was lower than in atopic dermatitis patients. The level of the other immunoglobulins was normal.

In penicilline-sensitized mice it was possible to decrease the titers of haemagglutinating antibodies by cholroquine.
