Photoselective vaporization of the prostate in ambulatory surgery.

PHOTOSELECTIVE VAPORIZATION of the prostate is a significant advancement in the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), one of the most common ailments experienced by men older than age 50. MANY MEN WITH BPH who are not candidates for transurethral resection of the prostate because they are undergoing anticoagulation therapy may be excellent candidates for the photoselective vaporization procedure.
