RESUMO

The Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture launched a new e-procurement system for schools, known as SIPLah, in June 2019. This paper introduces a dataset comprising responses from middle school principals to a questionnaire focusing on the quality dimensions of the newly implemented e-procurement system and their acceptance of this technology. The dataset encompasses responses from 3110 middle schools, representing nearly all Indonesian provinces, and offers valuable indicators for assessing the system's quality dimensions and acceptance. These quality dimensions include processing, content, usability, training, and professionalism, while constructs for evaluating system acceptance comprise perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude, and intention to continue using. Data collection occurred from August 31 to September 30, 2023, utilizing an online questionnaire administered via Google Forms. Collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology facilitated the distribution of the survey questionnaire to middle school principals across Indonesia through WhatsApp Messenger. This dataset holds significant potential for research exploring the impact of e-procurement system quality on schools' acceptance and for providing insights to policymakers and government officials regarding schools' perceptions of the system's quality and acceptance. As supplementary material, the dataset is made available to facilitate its reuse and further analysis by the research community.

Batik, a resist-dyeing technique to decorate a special cotton fabric, has been practiced for centuries in Indonesia. Unfortunately, as an informal enterprise, batik industry activities lack work safety and health regulations. This study aimed to identify potential health hazards, including inventorying the chemicals to which the workers are exposed, the PPE profile, and investigating the prevalence of occupational skin diseases (OSD) in the batik industry. A cross-sectional study and an inventory of exposure to the chemicals were done in traditional batik workplaces in 5 districts in Yogyakarta province, Indonesia. The chemicals were classified as potential sensitizers/irritants, and the workers were examined and interviewed using the Nordic Occupational Skin Questionnaire-2002/LONG. Of 222 traditional batik workers, OSD were diagnosed in 61 (27.5%) workers, with occupational contact dermatitis was the most common OSD encountered (n = 23/61; 37.7%) (allergic contact dermatitis n = 7/23; irritant contact dermatitis n = 16/23). A smaller portion of other OSD was also encountered including callus, miliaria, and nail disorder (9%, 6.3%, and 5.9%, respectively). During each step of the traditional batik manufacturing process, the workers are exposed to substances that act as irritants and/or as potential contact allergens. However, only one-fourth of the workers used PPE regularly, particularly during the coloring process and wax removal (wet processes). Traditional batik manufacturing process exposes the worker to various physical and chemical hazards, resulting in a high prevalence of occupational skin diseases, especially contact dermatitis among the employees.

OBJECTIVE: Batik is one of the Indonesian traditional arts made by decorating fabric using the resist dyeing technique. Currently, batik manufacturing serves as an important source of livelihood in Indonesia. However, the production process of traditional batik involves a range of chemicals and some repetitive physical movements, making batik production inseparable from physical and chemical hazards which increase the risk of developing occupational skin diseases (OSD). This study aimed to identify the risk factors related to OSD, including occupational contact dermatitis (OCD), among traditional batik manufacturing workers in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. RESULTS: The study demonstrated that working duration (≥ 8 h daily) and type of work (wet process only) were statistically significant as risk factors for developing OSD. While for OCD, our results found that gender (male), history of atopy, and type of work (all and wet phase only) were risk factors for OCD development among traditional batik manufacturing workers.

The current method used in latex industries to determine the volatile fatty acids contents of Hevea brasiliensis latex is steam distillation. However, the accuracy of the method has been debated for some time. We assessed the accuracy of the method and developed a new, more reliable high-performance liquid chromatographic method of determining acids in latex. The volatile fatty acids (formic, acetic, propionic, butyric, and valeric acids) and nonvolatile organic acids (oxalic, malic, lactic, citric, and succinic acids) in latex are directly determined simultaneously for the first time with high sensitivity and without losses during sample preparation. To avoid errors from derivatization, an acid-resistant Prevail HPLC column and a gradient mobile phase of 25 mM potassium dihydrogen phosphate (pH 2.5) and acetonitrile were employed. Under optimum conditions, the calibrations of both types of acids demonstrated satisfactory correlation coefficients of  ≥0.990, with limits of detection ranging from 0.02 to 395 mM. The developed method demonstrated the profiles of acids in field and concentrated latex of the same batch. Moreover, the evolution of the profiles of all studied acids in both types of latex during a 3-month period was also revealed.

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a group of rare genetic diseases that exhibit mechanical fragility of the skin. This condition will result in the occurrence of skin blisters, skin erosions, and skin ulcerations when the skin is subjected to trauma. In this case report, we present a case of EB and multiple skeletal deformities in a 21-year-old female. She came to our clinic with recurrent skin exfoliations and blisters that occurred since she was 4 years old and multiple bones bowing since she was 9 years old. On physical examinations, we found generalized hypopigmentation macule with erythematous skin. There were numerous bullae and crusted lesions, with erosion and excoriations on the lesions. Laboratory examinations identified low vitamin D 25-OH (8.6 ng/mL). Bone densitometry measurement found low bone density, and X-ray examination found osteopenia and bone bowing. Using whole-exome sequencing, no causative pathogenic sequence or copy number variants in the genes associated with Mendelian inherited disorders were detected. The low levels of vitamin D 25-OH may most likely be the main reason for the occurrence of rickets in this patient aside from the genetic disorder.
