RESUMO

In 102 cases with arthrographic proven lesion of the medial meniscus clinical, radiological and operative results were correlated. In 10% the lesion could not be found by arthrotomy. These were all cases with lesions in the posterior part of the meniscus, mostly at the basis. It must be assumed, that the posterior portion of the medial meniscus cannot be judged completely by arthrotomy, especially if a ventral approach is used.

RESUMO

75 fractures of the calcaneus were followed up in a long-term study in 64 patients. 27 of these patients were older than 10 years. 22 were operated (or reoperated) later. 16 of these received a double arthrodesis. The early and late results were compared. There was no difference between the results obtained with the surgically treated and the conservatively treated patients (functional or closed repositioning and plaster cast). The late operations are discussed. Emphasis is given to the orthopaedicotechnical possibilities which, in the authors' opinion, should be utilised more often.

RESUMO

The authors have put together their experience of the long-term results after meniscectomy. They came to the following conclusions: 1. A knee joint does not become unstable after removal of a cartilage unless there is another connected lesion. 2. X-ray modifications are to be found on the majority of the patients after meniscectomy, but very often without any clinical sign. 3. The sooner meniscectomy is practiced the better the long-term results are to be expected. 4. A good operative technique is most important to get satisfactory long-term results.
