Caracterización del adulto mayor con urgencia psiquiátrica en el Hospital Psiquiátrico "Luis Ramírez López", Guantánamo 2019 / Characterization of the elderly patient with psychiatric urgency in the Psychiatric Hospital "Luis Ramírez López", Guantanamo 2019

RESUMEN Introducción: En el Hospital Psiquiátrico "Luis Ramírez López" de la provincia de Guantánamo no se han caracterizado a los ancianos atendidos en el servicio de Urgencias. Objetivo: Caracterizar a los pacientes adultos mayores con urgencia psiquiátrica atendidos en el servicio de Urgencias del citado hospital durante el año 2019. Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo y transversal. En el total de pacientes atendidos (N=1 427) se estudiaron las siguientes variables: sexo, edad, área de procedencia, diagnóstico y conducta a seguir. Resultados: El 64,4 % de los pacientes fue mujeres y el 35,6 % fue hombres, los que tenían edades entre 60 y 69 años (57,9 %) y procedían del área sur del municipio de Guantánamo (30,3 %). Fue más común el diagnóstico de trastornos afectivos (32,7 %) y que se les ofreciera tratamiento ambulatorio (81,4 %). Conclusiones: Es elevada la demanda de atención psiquiátrica de urgencia por parte de paciente adultos mayores, sobre todo, porque presentan trastornos afectivos que requieren atención ambulatoria.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The elderly assisted in the urgency service in the Psychiatric Hospital Luis Ramirez Lopez has not been characterized. Objective: To characterize the elderly patients with a psychiatric urgency assisted in the urgency service of the already mentioned institution during the year 2019. Method: A descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study was carried out. The following variables were studied in the total of assisted patients (N=1427): sex, age, area of origin, diagnosis and steps to follow with the patient. Results: 64.4% of the patients were women and the 35.6% men, with an average age between 60 and 69 years (57.9%) and who came from the south area of the municipality of Guantánamo (30.3%). The most common diagnoses were affective dysfunctions (32.7%), mostly with ambulatory treatment (81.4%). Conclusions: It is considerably high the demand on psychiatric attention in urgency service for elderly patients, mainly because of affective dysfunctions that require ambulatory attention.

Introducción: en el Hospital Psiquiátrico Provincial Luis Ramírez López de la provincia Guantánamo no se han caracterizado los pacientes ingresados en la Unidad de Intervención en Crisis (UIC). Objetivo: caracterizar las admisiones hospitalarias en la citada unidad en el periodo comprendido 2015-2017. Método: se realizó un estudio descriptivo y retrospectivo de los pacientes que ingresaron en esta unidad (n=538). Se estudiaron las variables: edad, sexo, procedencia, diagnóstico y estadía. Resultados: la mayor proporción de los pacientes admitidos tenía entre 18 y 23 años (21,9 por ciento), eran del sexo femenino (53,9 por ciento), procedieron del municipio Guantánamo (42,0 por ciento), el diagnóstico más frecuente fue el trastorno de adaptación depresivo (27,9 por ciento) y el 66,4 por ciento tuvo una estadía hospitalaria menor de 7 días. Conclusiones: en la Unidad de Intervención en Crisis se admitieron pacientes en la etapa productiva de la vida, sobre todo mujeres con trastornos depresivos, lo que muestra la pertinencia social de su estudio(AU)

Introduction: the patients admitted to the Crisis Intervention Unit (UIC) have not been characterized in the "Luis Ramírez López" Provincial Psychiatric Hospital of the Guantánamo province. Objective: to characterize hospital admissions in said unit in the period 2015-2017. Method: a descriptive and retrospective study of the patients admitted to this unit was carried out (n=538). The variables were studied: age, sex, origin, diagnosis and stay. Results: the highest proportion of admitted patients was between 18 and 23 years old (21.9 percent), they were female (53.9 percent), they came from the Guantanamo municipality (42.0 percent), the most frequent diagnosis was Depressive adjustment disorder (27.9 percent) and 66.4 percent had a hospital stay of less than 7 days. Conclusions: Patients in the productive stage of life were admitted to the Crisis Intervention Unit, especially women with depressive disorders, which shows the social relevance of their study(AU)

Introdução: os pacientes admitidos na Unidade de Intervenção de Crise (UIC) não foram caracterizados no Hospital Psiquiátrico Provincial "Luis Ramírez López" da Província de Guantánamo. Objetivo: caracterizar internações hospitalares na referida unidade no período 2015-2017. Método: estudo descritivo e retrospectivo dos pacientes admitidos nesta unidade (n=538). As variáveis foram estudadas: idade, sexo, origem, diagnóstico e permanência. Resultados: a maior proporção de pacientes internados foi entre 18 e 23 anos (21,9 por cento), eran do sexo feminino (53,9 por cento), procedentes do município de Guantánamo (42,0 por cento), o diagnóstico mais frequente foi Transtorno de ajuste depressivo (27,9 por cento) e 66,4 por cento tiveram internação hospitalar inferior a 7 dias. Conclusões: pacientes em estágio produtivo de vida foram admitidos na Unidade de Intervenção à Crise, especialmente mulheres com transtornos depressivos, o que mostra a relevância social de seu estudo(AU)

This study addresses the impact of the technical -Scientific Revolution and health investigations in Cuban society as a social problem. It was found a bibliographical review through analysis and synthesis establishing criteria and evaluations concerning to the item. The authors reflected their views on the topic from theirs experiences as researchers and performed reviews of health research for their contributions and their current deficiencies that have changed to the current Cuban society

Evolución histórica de la especialidad de Psiquiatría en la provincia de Guantánamo / Historical evolution of psychiatry as specialization in the province of Guantanamo

Se realiza un estudio sobre la evolución histórica que ha tenido la especialidad de Psiquiatría en la provincia de Guantánamo posterior al triunfo revolucionario de 1959. Los datos se obtienen de entrevistas realizadas a fundadores de la especialidad en dicha provincia Guantánamo y de la revisión de algunos documentos. Con el presente trabajo los alumnos de 5to. Año de la carrera de Medicina cuentan con un material de consulta para profundizar en el estudio del tema Introducción de la Psiquiatría(AU)

A study of the historical evolution that has been the specialty of psychiatry in the province of Guantanamo after the revolutionary triumph of 1959 was performed. Data were obtained from interviews with founders of the specialty in the province of Guantanamo and the reviewing of some documents.
