RESUMO
The role of clinical and instrumental studies into the nature of pleural effusion obtained through transthoracic puncture was ascertained in 639 with pulmonary pathology. An algorithm was developed for the application of this method to differential diagnosis of different forms of pleuritis. Etiopathogenetic groups of patients with terminal differentiation of this pathology were distinguished.

To improve the screening system, the early pre-clinical diagnosis, the choice of therapeutic tactics and medicaments for treating some diseases about 1800 patients were investigated with the use of up-to-date technologies. The new method allows the physicians optimizing the process of decision making and improving the significant element of demonstration medicine, i.e. the transformation of investigational results into argumentative practical recommendations. The method's precision reached 93%.

All patients endured cryosurgical operations well. Right-sided pleurisy developed in one patient that was eliminated by single puncture of pleural cavity. Short thrombocytopenia was observed in two patients. At present the patients are under dynamic control and the signs of further tumoral growth in the liver are not revealed. According to the data of ultrasonic investigation and computer tomography the process of connective tissue organization expressiveness of which depends on time of surgical intervention was noted in the areas of hepatic tissue subjected to cryosurgery.

To study the potentialities of CT in the diagnosis of recurrent cancer of the large bowel, 325 patients underwent various surgical interventions for colorectal carcinoma were examined. The surgery-CT study interval ranged from 2,5 months to 11 years. It was found that CT might detect various intra- and extraintestinal relapses and generalize a tumorous process. With this, the efficiency of CT is higher than that of other diagnostic tools in the detection of extraintestinal relapses and generalizing the tumorous process. To timely reveal a relapse the CT interval should exceed 4-5 months.

The authors assessed liquor biochemical indices, mainly enzymes, on day 1-3 of hemispheric ischemic stroke in correlation with brain infarction size in 90 relevant male patients (mean age 70 +/- 6 years). The brain damage was verified by computed tomography with measuring the infarction lesion. The latter in view, the patients were assigned in three groups: with ischemic lesion less than 5.0 cm3, less than 30 cm3 and greater than 30.0 cm3 or/and multiple lesions. The results were compared with those in patients who had suffered hemispheric ischemic stroke followed by discirculatory encephalopathy.
