Flexible pressure sensors have garnered significant attention in the field of wearable healthcare due to their scalability and shape variability. However, a crucial challenge in their practical application for various healthcare scenarios is striking a balance between the sensitivity and sensing range. This limitation arises from the reduced compressibility of the microstructures on the surface of pressure-sensitive materials under high pressure, resulting in progressive saturation of the sensor's response and leading to a restricted and nonlinear pressure sensing range. In this study, we present a novel approach utilizing multi-level pyramidal microstructures in flexible pressure sensors to achieve both high sensitivity (8775 kPa-1) and linear response (R2 = 0.997) over a wide pressure range (up to 1000 kPa). The effectiveness of the proposed design stems from the compensatory behavior of the lower pyramidal microstructures, which counteracts the declining sensitivity associated with the gradual hardening of the higher pyramidal microstructures. Furthermore, the sensor demonstrates a fast response time of 11.6 ms and a fast relaxation time of 3.8 ms and can reliably detect pressures as low as 30.2 Pa. Our findings highlight the applicability of this flexible pressure sensor in diverse human body health detection tasks, ranging from weak pulses to finger flexion and plantar pressure distribution. Notably, the proposed sensor design eliminates the need for replacing flexible pressure sensors with varying ranges, thereby enhancing their practical utility.

BACKGROUND: Suicide-related theories and a growing body of evidence suggest that suicidal patients may have a tendency toward "short-sightedness"-the preference for immediate gratification when making intertemporal choice-and that social exclusion may exacerbate this tendency in suicidal patients. The present study examined the intertemporal choice performance of suicide attempters under conditions of social exclusion in a sample of affective disorder patients. METHODS: A total of 64 affective disorder patients (22 non-suicidal patients, 24 single-suicide attempters and 18 multiple-suicide attempters) completed an intertemporal choice task in an exclusion or a non-exclusion condition. Social exclusion was manipulated using the Cyberball paradigm. RESULTS: Non-suicidal patients and single-suicide attempters both exhibited an exaggerated preference for immediate rewards in the exclusion condition compared with the non-exclusion condition; in contrast, the multiple-suicide attempters appeared relatively indifferent to the social exclusion, exhibiting virtually identical preferences for immediate rewards in both the exclusion and non-exclusion conditions. In addition, the multiple-suicide attempters exhibited an exaggerated preference for immediate rewards compared with non-suicidal patients and single-suicide attempters in the non-exclusion condition, while the three groups did not differ in the exclusion condition. CONCLUSIONS: Affective disorder patients with a single or no suicide attempts are more short-sighted after being excluded, while those with multiple suicide attempts appeared consistent short-sightedness in both exclusion and non-exclusion conditions. The study provides preliminary evidence of the role of disadvantageous intertemporal choice in the suicidal process. Future research replicate and extend these findings could have implications for suicide prevention and intervention.

Few people have paid attention to community epidemic prevention workers in the postpandemic era of COVID-19. This study aimed to explore the prevalence and risk factors for mental health symptoms in community epidemic prevention workers during the postpandemic era. Mental health status was evaluated by the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7, Chinese Perceived Stress Scale, Insomnia Severity Index, and Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey. The results showed that a considerable proportion of community epidemic prevention workers reported symptoms of depression (39.7%), anxiety (29.5%), high stress (51.1%), insomnia (30.8%), and burnout (53.3%). The prevalence of depression and anxiety in community epidemic prevention workers was higher than in community residents. Among community epidemic prevention workers, short sleep duration was a risk factor for depression, anxiety, high stress and insomnia. Concurrent engagement in work unrelated to epidemic prevention and current use of hypnotics were risk factors for depression, anxiety and insomnia. Our study suggests that during the postpandemic era, the mental health problems of community epidemic prevention workers are more serious than those of community residents. Several variables, such as short sleep duration and concurrent engagement in work unrelated to epidemic prevention, are associated with mental health among community epidemic prevention workers.

A novel laser direct writing lithography equipment system was proposed to realize rapid and µm-precision fabrication on curved surfaces with large curvatures and large sag heights. Through detailed design, analysis, simulation, and measurement, it showed that the system was able to continuously, linearly and rapidly change the focus position in z coordinate. For demonstration, a concentric-circular photoresist grating with a sag height of 5.2 mm and a designed line width/space of 12.5 µm/25 µm was fabricated within 40 s on a convex K9 glass substrate surface with a curvature radius of 32.77 mm. When combining with the movement of the x-y-z stage, the system could fabricate the micropatterns on curved surfaces with larger dimensions. Further, the system possessed the general principles of optics, mechanics, and automation for µm-precision 3D microfabrication.
