Finishing and polishing are important factors related to the clinical longevity of resin-based composite (RBC) restorations. The smoother the restoration, the less dental plaque retention is shown, thereby reducing the occurrence of secondary caries and periodontitis (1,2). Finishing and polishing also allow for less surface discoloration which contributes to the esthetic value of a RBC restoration (3)
