RESUMO

The work was aimed to determine the level of oral dysbiosis of patients depending on the type of prosthetics constructures. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study involved 48 patients with the presence in the oral cavity of fixed dentures from 4 to 6 units with a service life of no more than 3 years. The samples of plaque from the vestibular surface of dentures were collected to determine the microorganisms in the gingival plaque. Bacteriological research was carried out by the multiplex polymerase chain reaction in real time using the Phemoflor 8 reagent kit. The degree of dysbiosis of the oral cavity was determined according to the classification of V. Khazanova. RESULTS: The results of the study of patients' samples did not reveal significant changes in the microbial landscape of the cervical areas. The total bacterial mass in the group of healthy individuals was lower than the total bacterial mass of patients in the investigated group significantly. IV degree of oral dysbiosis with a decrease in the number of lactobacilli, streptococci was characteristic of patients of denture wearers. The II degree of dysbiosis in patients with metal-ceramic structures was established. Patients who used solid cast and metal-plastic structures were diagnosed with II-III degree of dysbiosis of the oral cavity. The worst indicators were characteristic of prosthesis wearers of stamped-brazed structures. CONCLUSIONS: Quantitative indicators of the composition of the microbiota of the cervical areas of denture wearers have significant differences and different levels of dysbiosis of the oral cavity, depending on the type of dentures in the patients' mouth (Tab. 2, Fig. 1, Ref. 21). RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim: To study changes in the chemical composition of the tooth enamel surface when using hydrogen peroxide as a chemical component of the whitening system in combination with professional oral hygiene. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: To achieve this goal, during the study, we studied the enamel of the teeth of the frontal area, which was removed for orthodontic and orthopedic indications. The age of the patients whose teeth were examined ranged from 18 to 44 years. In the experiment, we studied the chemical structure of enamel by a method thatcovered the selection of the study area, with the designation of areas for microanalysis, and subsequent elemental analysis in selected areas of the enamel. RESULTS: Results and conclusions: Analyzing the results of this study, we can make assumptions about the impact of professional dental hygiene on the procedure of photo-whitening teeth based on 35% hydrogen peroxide gel and its subsequent impact on theother clinical indicators, which will depend on the characteristics of functional and structural resistance of the enamel.

RESUMO

Extracellular plaques composed of the hydrophobic peptide amyloid-ß and intraneuronal accumulation of the hyperphosphorylated protein tau (p-tau) are pathological hallmarks found in the brains of most people affected by Alzheimer's disease (AD). In Parkinson's disease (PD), Lewy bodies, i.e., intraneuronal protein deposits comprising the protein α-synuclein, are a typical disease feature. As these hallmarks located in the brain are hardly traceable, reliable biomarkers from easily accessible body fluids are key for accurate diagnosis. The aim of the present work was to review the available literature regarding potential biomarkers of AD and PD in the saliva. The databases PubMed, Google Scholar, LILACS, LIVIVO, VHL regional portal, Cochrane Library, eLIBRARY, and IOS Press were consulted for the literature search. Screening of titles and abstracts followed the PRISMA guidelines, while data extraction and the assessment of full texts were carried out in accordance with the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale assessment. The review shows significant increases in levels of the amyloid-ß Aß1-42 and elevated p-tau to total tau (t-tau) ratios in salivary samples of AD patients, in comparison with healthy controls. In PD patients, levels of α-synuclein in salivary samples significantly decreased compared to healthy controls, whereas oligomeric α-synuclein and the ratio of oligomeric α-synuclein to total α-synuclein markedly increased. Salivary biomarkers represent a promising diagnostic tool for neurodegenerative diseases. Further high-quality case-control studies are needed to substantiate their accuracy.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the research is to study the physical and mechanical parameters of the bases in removable laminar dentures after modification of their surface. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: the studied samples were divided into two groups (group I - acrylic plastics, and group II - acrylic plastics with fullerene С60 nanocoating), 50 samples in each group. The coefficients of water absorption, water solubility, microhardness and deformation characteristics of materials were studied. RESULTS: Results and conclusions: The material covered with fullerene С60 has a lower coefficient of water absorption and water solubility, which amounted to 0.55% and 0.23% respectively, from the initial weight of samples, as compared with acrylic plastics without coating (0.71% and 034%, respectively). The strength parameters of samples of group ІІ were higher by 13.5% as compared to group І. The given results of water absorption and water-solubility show that acrylic plastics with fullerene С60 molecules coating has a lower coefficient of water absorption and water solubility, in comparison with acrylic plastics without coating. This indicates a higher degree of resistance to biodegradation of the modified surface material, in turn reducing the washing-out of residual monomer from the denture, which directly improves the strength parameters of the acrylic plastics and can prevent the development of denture stomatitis.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Introduction: Saving and improvement of population' health is one of the main priorities of the policy in any country. Studying of the level and causes of mortality is a powerful tool for assessing the effectiveness of health care systems. WHO recommends using of the European classification of preventable causes of death that based on three levels of prevention. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The aim of this study is to compare the level and structure of mortality of the population of Ukraine and the Poltava region, to substantiate scientific approaches to the study and identification of those causes of death that can be prevented in order to formulate prevention programs at different level. Materials and methods: In research are used the information from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine and from the Center for Medical Statistics of the MoH of Ukraine. RESULTS: Review: Despite the positive dynamics of mortality in recent years, both in the Poltava region and in Ukraine, the indicators remain extremely negative. About 73.3% of all fatalities in Ukraine are three main types of causes cardiovascular diseases, external causes of death and neoplasms. In the Poltava region, 70.56% of all causes of death are due to cardiovascular disease; neoplasms occupy 13.88%; external causes - 4.87%; diseases of the digestive system - 3,06%; respiratory diseases - 1.31% of the causes of death. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The mortality rate both in the Poltava region and in Ukraine has tendency for declines, but remains rather high. General trends in the structure of causes of death: in the first place are diseases of the cardiovascular system, the second - neoplasms, the third -external causes. Structuring of the causes of death that based on the principle of prevention in Ukraine do not conduct.

RESUMO

The present study analyzed the data concerning the caries prevalence in children born and permanently residing in Chernobyl fallout areas. Setting forth to evaluate if differences regarding the caries prevalence can be observed compared to non-contaminated sites of affected East European countries. Methods used to assess the caries prevalence were limited to DMFT/dmft (decayed, missing and filled teeth) for the primary and the permanent dentitions. The databases PubMed, EMBASE/Ovid, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and eLIBRARY were consulted for the electronic literature search. Screening of titles and abstracts followed the MOOSE guidelines, while data extraction and the assessment of the full texts were performed in accordance to the Newcastle Ottawa Scale. The statistical analysis revealed considerable heterogeneity of DMFT/dmft values (from I2 = 94% up to I2 = 99.9%; p < 0.05) in children of different ages (5-7; 12-15; and average of 12 years). Scattering of the weighted mean differences (95% CI) ranged from -1.03 (-1.36; -0.7) to 6.51 (6.11; 6.91). Although individual studies demonstrated a greater prevalence of dental caries in children residing in radiation-contaminated areas, no conclusive statement is possible regarding the effect of small dose radiation on the dentition. Hence, further high-quality epidemiologic investigations are needed.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Introduction: Increasing of the availability and quality of health care in rural areas is one of the priority directions of public health and regional development policy. The need for reforming of the network of secondary health care facilities is due to the fact, that they are unable to meet the needs of the population in this specialized type of medical care in the conditions of the existing structure and funding system. The aim: to analyze the existing legislation regulating the establishment and operation of hospital districts; to determine the methodology for monitoring and evaluating of the activity of the hospital district on the example of the Poltava region. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: In this work a set of methods is used: system approach, bibliosemantic, legal, logical modeling. RESULTS: Review: A managerial tool capable of tracking the process and demonstrating the impact of projects, programs and development policies is monitoring and evaluation. The basis of evaluation is the creation of different indicators and indexes. The system of these indicators provides an opportunity to assess the social, medical, economic and environmental aspects of development of hospital district. The monitoring and evaluation program should include monitoring of implementation (contributions and activities) and monitoring of the results of work of the hospital districts (short-term and long-term). CONCLUSION: Conclusions: Hospital districts are created with the aim of optimizing of the organization and functioning of the network of health facilities. The Management Board's decision should be based on valid, reliable information on the development of the hospital district. Compliance with the monitoring and evaluation methodology makes it possible to provide the health care system with qualitative and timely data at all stages of its reformation.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Introduction: Basic materials used in the clinic of orthopedic dentistry are high-polymer compounds and have a number of positive properties in certain conditions. The main group of materials for manufacturing of removable dentures is acrylic plastics of hot polymerization. However, such materials can sometimes cause a number of complications. Using removable prostheses, which are made of acrylic plastics can cause the development of an allergic or toxic-chemical reaction of tissues of the prosthetic bed. The question of improving the quality of removable prosthesis is one of the most important problems for many years because of reactions of people's organism they can cause. This aim is achieved by development of new basic dental materials and improvements at various stages of the process of manufacturing removable plate prostheses. The aim: To investigate the possible adverse effect of various groups of basic dental materials on some hematological parameters of white male rats in the Wistar line. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: Experiments were performed on 20 white male Wistar rats weighing 160-200 grams. The choice of this species was based on the literature data on the use of white rats in the study of the biological effects of plastics, solvents, dyes, and others. Freshly made samples of the studied materials were used in experiments, because the maximum allocation of monomer occurs in the first 7 days after polymerization. Euthanasia of animals was performed 7 days after surgical intervention under hexenal anesthesia by blood transfusion from the right ventricle. The object of the study was the venous blood of experimental animals. RESULTS: Results: On the seventh day after substrate samples of basic materials Ftorax, Deflex Acrylato and Vertex ThermoSens intramuscularly into the anterior abdominal wall, white laboratory rats did not have results, such as some unnormal reaction of the animal's organism. A slight increase in the value of the index of spontaneous hemolysis of erythrocytes (5.8±0.5%) in the group of animals, which was sampled with the material "Ftorax" in comparison with the control group (4.6±0.3%), has no statistically significant difference. Similarly, there is no significant increase in the accumulation of TBC-reactants in this group to a value of 4.48±0.28 µmol/l compared with the group of pseudo-operated animals (3.02±0.41 µmol/l), which is not statistically significant. Thus, it can be stated that according to the parameters of free radical oxidation, the biological reaction of the animal organism to the incorporation of the aforementioned materials was not revealed. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The results of the study of the biological effect of basic dental plastics on white rats by stacking samples of investigated material into the anterior abdominal wall evaluated by free radical oxidation and activity of antioxidant enzymes did not reveal statistically significant differences comparing with the control group of animals.
